I know mods..read the stickies...the problem is I'm too scared to open it up and if something goes wrong, I'll be in real trouble coz. I do not know any xbox specialist in India. Plus its not mine.

The XBOX is PAL version
Manufacturing date is 200-12-10

In the Retail MS dashboard:
K 1.00.4817.01
D 1.00.5659.03

In Evox
Kernel 1.00.5101.01
Hardware Info 00000200

In the Bios identify utility under the Evox Menu
LPC based (SST 49LF020)

Has the retail HDD

To switch on the modchip, I have to hold the power on button until the light turn orange.

White booting, its says Matrix inside

Evox, apps and mochip installs were done by the dealer. The dealer is just a dealer and he said he purchased it from someone and he has no idea on how to update it whatsover.

My friends wants the latest version of Evox installed in his XBOX. Even better he said he wants to install Slayer's Autoinstaller. But for that he thinks that he may have to do a bios update.

So my questions are :

1. What modchip do the xbox have?
2. What is the latest stable bios of this modchip?
3. Are they any possible pitfalls while installing Slayer' Autoinstaller?

Thanks

Raj

i would say its an aladdin with evox m7 and an old version of the evox dash

the bios will be fine, so you can go ahead and run slayers

I thought matrixes did the 2 sec boot enable and had a SST 256k flashrom as well lordvader? Also in my experience with aladdins/evox dash, i've never seen it come up as "LPC based (SST 49LF020)"...and then of course the matrix inside thing, i thought, heck it's a matrix!

Anyway, i'm just asking, since i thought it was a matrix.

matrices turned on by just pushing the power button, then they disabled by hitting the eject button after powering on (eject trick)

plus he said the LED turns orange, thats another aladdin feature

the matrix inside thing was embedded in older versions of the evox dashboard xbe itself, and like the "xecuter2" logo in x2 bioses its no good at IDing a chip

but it is true the matrices had the SST 49LF020 flashrom as well
