Hey
I was following a guide on upgrading hard drive for xbox. The step i got stuck at was burning the iso.
I created the iso but on the guide it says use nero and cd-rw to burn the iso. The iso is 1.58gb but it won't fit onto a cd-rw. Do i use a different program like DVDdecryptor

what iso are your burning? And if you have an iso that big, you have to use a dvd-r. All you need is the slayers disk, put that in your xbox with the new hard drive in and it will format it and everything for you.

Small hint: Files written by xboxhdm cant be written to by xbox native software (as in, the savegame you have for forza cant be updated if you put it on via xboxhdm!!!)
So take all the shit that requires config files, the savegames etcetc out of the xboxhdm CD, and FTP it onto the HD later.

One more question i forgot to post.
Will the linux.iso file be alot smaller if i remove 1 of my games that is already on the xbox. Right now i have 2 on there Mercanaeries and nba street v3. Is there a specific way to delete games off xbox hard drive?

Dude, just don't include them in ur iso...Here's what u do, start over, just put ur c files, e files (udata and tdata) and ur eeprom.bin in the folders for xboxhdm, then make the iso, should be right around 200mb...then u can burn it to a cd-rw...like someone else said, u can just backup ur saves to ur pc and ur games and apps, emus whatever, then once u build the new hdd, u can ftp back the stuff...that way it won't be read-only...

so your saying just use c folder and udata and tdata in the E folder? When i'm done installing the new hd i'll just transfer the games i backed up from pc to xbox?
So basically I still follow the guide i linked here before but don't use the entire E folder. What about the F folder? What is the F folder? Saved game files?

F isn't anything unless u made an F....F i usually used for games, video, music, can even be dash files (stock and hacked) apps, etc...depends on how u set it up...but the xbox always saves ur games to e:\udata.

That's weird because mine works perfectly and I transfered all my saves using xboxhdm and I'm able to use the saves and save over them....
EDIT: Now I remember that before I put them on cd, I made sure that they weren't read-only. I just checked my files that are backed up in my xboxhdm...

Just wondering. What does locking and unlocking the hard drive do?
Do i have have to unlock the stock xbox hard drive before i take it out?
I'm not going to use xbox live

a xbox without a modchip will only boot a HDD
that is locked to it's "EEPROM KEY"
the bios on the modchip does not care if it's locked or not
but if it's locked it must to it's KEY or it can't unlock it

Now i'm having problems locking the hd with xboxhdm
I pressed option 3 to pick the lock/unlocking option. Then typed in lockhd -a and then it's going through the looking process "looking for dev..." then after a while a message comes up saying linux cd not found.
I think it can't find the eeprom file on the cd. Can someone help me
