I recently transferred a whole bunch of music from my itunes library on my computer to my xbox but noticed that any tracks in .m4a format can't be listened to. I thought xbmc could read m4a's.

Maybe I should give more details. In itunes on my computer I have some songs that I imported in mp3 format. To import songs with higher quality (but bigger file size) you can go to Edit, click on the tab that says importing, and change "Import Using:" to Apple Lossless Encoder. Music files imported under this setting recieve the extension .m4a. I transfered a number of music folders to "My Music" in xbmc via ftp and only those songs that end in the .mp3 extension will play in xbmc. The songs ending in .m4a show up in their appropriate folders, but when I press the A button to play them nothing happens. How do I remedy this?

I think m4a support is only in newer versions.

They certainly play on mine.

Copied out from iTunes and ftp'd to xbox - all the m4a's work fine.

(my build is recent - less than 2 weeks old.)

Thanks for replying. I just put the 5/30 build on mine. Is that not current enough to support m4a's?
