I haven't played my XBOX in a while so I hooked it up and gave it a go. When I cut it up it makes a slight revving sound and then it cuts, off. MS sent me my replacement cord, but it did the same thing. WHats going on. I tried using my XBOX on four different outlets to see if it was just something wrong with the outlet but it difintely seems to be my console. ANy answers?

id say the psu is stuffed. it can do that if it hasnt been used in ages.

you can get a new psu reasonably cheap, so get one and it should work a beaudy

check the solder points on the power supply...same thing happend to me, I discovered the solder had broken.

Also, check fuse on psu.

if it was the fuse, then it wouldnt power up at all

M$ replacement cords r a waste of time n effort. go get 1 from ur local electrical store & try that (dont get 1 with any safety features!!). if it still does it, ur looking at a replacement PSU. if there is any fizzing noises the PSU is probably a foxlink & needs a solder fix.
