Well, I finally figured out the torrent thing, but slayers has bad tracker info. I found out that "Auto.Installer.Deluxe.v1.01" and above also contain the 5960 Dashboard. So, I am downloading it through torrent right now. Got 200 Megs out of 735 Megs so far.



The reason I am mentioning this, is so people who can't get slayers (like me) will know of an alternative source to get the 5960 Dashboard.

I just remembered. . if you have any recent games you can get a fresh dash using dashupdate.xbe. Get fonts folder and Audio folder from C drive. Now delete shadowc_off.bin file. So, on reboot you will have shadowc enable. Copy Audio and fonts folder in the shadowcx and copy dashupdate.xbe and it will unpack a new ms dash in teh shadowc.

Just figured it out. Those partitions are cache partitions.


The most recent games I have right now are "Fable" and "Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition". They are both copyright 2004, but Morrowind GotYE is a re-release. Will either of these be new enough you think?

Also, the only "Online Enabled" game I have is "Rainbow six 3". I don't have very many games for Xbox yet.

SUCCESS!! I extracted the 5960 Dash from the iso file in "AIDv3.0"and started Ndure again. Then I replaced the entire C drive. Works like a charm. Now that I am finished, should I delete the shadowC_off.bin file from E drive?

yah.. after you remove the file and reboot.. its better if you delete everything from shadowc drive and copy another copy ms dash in shadowc ( only ms dash).. unleashx and some other apps may require it.. buts its not necessary..good to see finaly you got it to work..

Thank you once again. After following this advice, my MS Dashoard works. Before, when I select MS Dashboard in UnleashX, it just booted back to UnleashX. Once I copied the MS Dashboard to shadowC, it booted to the MS Dashboard perfectly, but ONLY if shadowC_off.bin was not present on E. If it WAS there, it just booted back to UnleashX again. It all makes perfect sense now. It's like chasing the white rabbit .

kingroach, i just realised something. the bios.xbe from the
e:\ndts directory does not support CD booting. is it intended
to be this way?

booting cd depends on your dvd-drive.. samsung boots few cd's but thompson and phillips drive doenst boot any cd's.

that's not the problem. the bios.xbe from the PC installer is able to
do a CD boot. but does not when replaced with the e:\ndts copy.

you mean turning the xbox with power button and its booting directly to dvd/cd.. it could be. you can change the option with runtime config option.

use nkpatcher .06 and using xbpartition ( a xbox program) format F drive with 32k clusters.

I have an X3 in there (using solderless adapter) temporarily. Can I just format the hard drive using that? ... or even evox?

I'm wondering if someone can help me here. Someone has given me their xbox to put XBMC on for them as the dashboard. I was told they had a modchip but after checking it out it looks like it's actually a softmod which I'm new to (mine is chipped).

After sniffing around via FTP (using Unleash-X on cdrw) I found there is a shadowc.img file on the E drive, which after some searching on here led me to assume the NDure method was used.

There is no dash whatsoever installed on this machine, in fact the C drive is totally blank (booting without a disc in the drive brings me to the MS service screen). My question is how can I get a dash on here? From what I've read so far I've seen mentioned putting the default.xbe and config.xbe into E:/dashboards, E:/dashboard, E:/dash, or just ROOT E:/. All of these I've tried to no avail.

Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

i am trying to update my bios so i used ndure for PC and it works ok, it just sees my F partition as blank and doesnt see my G partition at all. i dont want to format because of all the stuff i had on them (its a 300gb hd).

i have the partitions enabled in the config.xml and I used the .67 nkpatcher, any ideas why it's not seeing the G part and the F appears blank?

Is there anything special I need to do? I tried just replacing e:\dash\default.xbe with xbmc but when i boot up the xbox it start and a second later restarts, waits, restarts, waits, restarts....

got it, i had some bad config.

now i'm trying to figure out when i boot by pressing the eject button the default ms dash doesn't seem to be comming up, after the logo screen it's just black

Everytime is use Ndure I get folders that are like 350+megs in size. When I connect (via FTP) to my Xbox I only have like 330 megs of room at best when the C drive is clear.

What am I doing wrong?

When I do just the base files, and don't transfer ShadowC, the Xbox appears to boot, but just goes to a black screen and sits.

Lastly the light is Orange.

did you copy the files corrcetly ( earnie.xtf before xbox.xtf).. there might be some extra files in C drive.. Make sure your C is retail first.

not everything but it plays the games.

i want to make a fresh instalation on other disk, need the eproom.
Can't ftp to my xbox, and don't know how to extract the eproom.
Anyone can give me an help on this.

is there any reason you cant ftp.. you can backup teh eeprom with evox.. You could take out the eeprom by hotswapping and copying the eeprom with xplorer 360.. buts its 100 times easier if you ftp.

I wiped the C drive. (Making sure the one file settings whatever was greater than 4 megs first)

Once I did that I used Ndure, selected the right Kernel version and uploaded the corresponding files. I made sure Ernie went up first.

I still got a yellow light.

Seems like it is trying to load the modified dash, but doesn't display anything.

Interesting.. this time it comes up with the Xbox Live Account Management screen.

Where I can setup my account or network.

Last update.... I tried a different dash but no luck.

Maybe it has a yellow light because it is trying to load the dash but whatever is responsible for that isn't working?

Where did you copy the dash?..if you can boot burned disks ( games/ boot cd's).., Boot a boot cd and make sure there is a dash in E:\dash\ folder.

the thing is everything we have tried has just loaded the green xbox bubble to emblem then a BLACK screen with a Yellow light on the front of the xbox. it freezes b4 it gets to the dash everytime. so we cant load a burnt game to check. and the one time it did load through there it loaded an xbox live account registration page and froze. we know what the kernal version is and everything else we just cant get a dash to load. any suggestions?

Hi dudes well I'm new to the forums and well i want to mod my Xbox, Now I want to install Ndure Softmod Through Xboxhdm on it but I can not find NDURE 3.0. I have been on xbin.org it is not there it just redirects here the link on here is wrong also, also that xboxhelp.tk site that is linked here too so did many google searches, so it must be available if it is kept on being liked to this post. I have downloaded Krayzie Ndure Pack but there is no .exe in it so i have been searching the internet for about 5 hours trying to find it, so if any one could message me on how to find it and point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.

No that is the problem. It will only boot retail.

If we let it boot with no game, then it goes to a yellow LED, but nothing on the screen. And stops there.

does doing a IGR ( LT+RT+back+start) does anything when you hit the orange led?.. if not then th eunleashx default.xbe can be corrupt..I think somewhere in this thread, someone had this problem. He made a new cd with fresh install files and it worked fine after softmodding with the new cd.

I have a 1.1 Xbox that softmodded with the old font exploit with Phoenix loader a long time ago. It was sitting gathering dust for a while. It got into the clock loop once so I quite nervous taking the power off.
Stumbled on this thread during over the Xmas break and think to myself "what the heck, I give it a go since I have a spare 320G available". My Xbox had an old dash (I think 4920), so pop in Halo2 to update to the latest one. Then follow the instructions and out come a spanking brand new modded HD. Plug it into the xbox and my jaw dropped when saw the UnleashX dash boot up. Excellent work.

I would like to reverse the LED back to normal green colour - sorry, yellow is not my fav colour .
Must I simply use the nkpatcher10 (or 11 ) and change the configuration accordingly?

extarct it, you will find a file called config_runtime. Open the file with notepad. Look at this section:



change the first option to GREEN. Run the file make_runtime.bat (first delete nkp_config.bin file). This will createa new config file. Just drop the file in E:\ drive. Or you can compile a new bios by changing config file and replacing the bios file in C:\bios\ folder. ( to see real C, you need to run E:\ndts\default.xbe file)..

Done. Back to green again.

Has there been any instability problems after this modding method? It just hangs, some things work fine, and others don't. Couple of games seems run fine, but one game which works on other xbox just hangs this box after couple of seconds from starting. It dies on opening shoutcast stream or while playing videos too. I'm a bit clueless atm. I've done three boxes with ndure installer. All of them work fine, except this one. Only difference with the one is that we changed hard drive to bigger one, 250GB if I recall.


What bios is included in ndure installer? Is it changeable? Should it work fine with larger HD's? Is there other things which could cause instalbility?

Ok, I need a question answered. Does this involve opening your Xbox or computer AT ALL, because you mentioned nothing about either of those two and said a lot about burning CD's.

if you use a gamesave and FTP then NO need to open anything...otherwise YES

use a gamesave installer.......

no need to delete nkp_config.bin (it's overwritten)
in this version (VGA10) the file need to be in E:\NKP11\ (look at the read me)

Look at the xboxhdm for dummies link in my sig. It has picture explaining how to connect xbox hard drive to computer. Opening xbox is easy.. just open the 6 screwes that are in the back. go to xbox-scene.com and in the tutorial section, theres tutorial on how to open xbox.

you cant download splinter cell that works for softmod.. you have to buy one if you want to do gamesave exploit.

Ok, I read the tutorial and it said to hook it up to "primary slave"...I think. It didn't explain WTF that was.

i want to ask some question. I tray intstall softmod with ndure installer for pc ower hboxhdm. I create backup but i dont make a copy to cd. And now after all instalion i have this:
i boot xbox unleashx, ftp in and in backup directory E\backup i can't find eeprom.bin file.
I try get this file with ConfigMagic but this program don't want to work. Maybe it's problem in virtual c and virtual eeprom:(
So, it is any posibility to get eeprom without one time more hotswap?

you need a already modded xbox for ftp transfer..
