NDURE: (Next dimension uber
rmenhal exploit)
Ndure is derived from UEEE. IT uses xonlinedash.xbe from special 4920 MS dash. Instead of looking for fonts in C:/fonts folder, It looks for fonts in C:/xodash folder. This feature enables you to have a unmodified retail MS dash in C drive. It uses more stable fonts than UXE/UDE2. It allows you to run a alternative tray state modded-unmodded setup just like modchips, in unmodded state it has the ability to launch MS dash which will allow easier acces to XBL system. It does not mean that Ndure is safe from XBL banning. If MS checks you HD and finds modified files, they can still ban you.

Official Topic->

WHAT IS IT: Ndure installer installs includes necessary files needed to run ndure on a xbox. This installer includes very basic sets of files and also advance components and configuration for users. You can also use it as a patch for C drive files to replace C drive with fully softmodded files. This readme assumes that you have intermediate knowledge of your xbox although if you follow the instruction carefully, anyone can install the Ndure safely.

IPB Image

USAGE:

1. Core Files: (Default Ndure retail):

Start the installer. Select and output folder. By default the installer uses retail profile. Which means the xbox will boot to homebrew dashboard with power button and MS dashboard with eject button. The default bios is nkpatcher.67 which means F drive takes up to 127GB and G drive takes the rest. Files needed to upload for a softmod setup:

C DRIVE: bios folder (C:\ root), media folder (C:\ root), xboxdash.xbe (C:\ root), xb0xdash.xbe (C:\ root), earnie.xtf and xbox.xtf (C:\xodash\), shadowc folder (C:\ root), xonlinedash.xbe (C:\xodash\), x0nlinedash.xbe (C:\xodash\), x2onlinedash.xbe (C:\xodash)

E DRIVE: dash folder (E:\ root), ndts folder (E:\root), NKP11 folder (E:\ root)

2. Choose between basic and retail softmod:

From the dropdown menu choose Ndure Basic. With Ndure basic configuration, you will boot to homebrew dash with either eject or power button.

3. Patching C drive files:

For this, it is recommended that you have latest MS dash (5960.01 V. 185EAD00). Have all of the dash files in a folder named "C". Next, run the installer with your appropriate choices. As a destination folder, select the parent folder that has your dash files "C" folder in it (don't select "C" folder). The installer will add/rename/delete necessary files and create a complete C drive replacement.

C drive folder before patching:

Audio
fonts
xboxdashdata.185ead00 (includes settings_adoc.xip)
xodash
xboxdash.xbe

C drive folder after patching:

Audio
xboxdashdata.185ead00
xodash ( includes fonts, xonlinedash.xbe, x0nlinedash.xbe and x2onlinedash.xbe)
media
bios
xboxdash.xbe
xb0xdash.xbe ( if you choose retail setup)

UPLOADING TO XBOX:

First make sure that you do not have a 4 MB file called "settings_adoc.xip" in xboxdashdata.185EAD00 in "C" folder or C drive. If there is the 4 MB file, then delete it (but don't delete it if it's smaller). Upload the files with any ftp client. You can batch upload the files if you wish. It is necessary that you upload earnie.xtf (In xodash folder) first and then upload xbox.xtf (In xodash folder). Since all ftp clients uploads files in Alphabetical order, it will upload earnie.xtf before xbox.xtf. Check your ftp log to see the order or you can upload the fonts manually to C:\xodash\ folder.

Corrcet order of font uploading:

NDURE INSTALLER FOR XBOXHDM:

Ndure installer for pc now includes a autoinstaller for xboxhdm. The script allows you to install ndure files generated by Ndure pc installer with xboxhdm.

HOW TO USE:
Create your appropriate Ndure setup. Check the "create xboxhdm installer". Ndure installer will create a folder called "ndure" which have your customized setup. Copy the created "ndure" folder to "xboxhdm/linux" folder. Browse to CD/ndure/ folder, select "ndure" file and hit enter to launch it or you can type /CD/ndure/ndure to launch the script.

Option 1: copies files generated by ndure pc installer. Option 2 completely erases C drive and copy ndure files.
Option 2: Useful if you want a clean ndure installation or you used ndure installer to patch C:\ drive files. Option 2 is recommended if you want to use shadowc, UDDAE and other features without problem.
Option 3: Installs UDDAE.
Option 4 & 5: Backups/Recovers C drive. The backup is compatible with Ndure toolset.

UDDAE (Uber Double Dash Audio Exploit):

OFFICIAL TOPIC: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=444280

WHAT IT IS: UDDAE is reincarnation of Audio exploit. MS Live 2.0+ dash has audio exploit fixed. UDDAE uses xboxdsh.xbe from dashboard version 4920.17cdc100 (Uber dash). This xboxdash.xbe is audio exploitable. This xboxdash.xbe is renamed to settings_adoc.xip and replaced for original settings_adoc.xip in xboxdashdata.185ead00 folder. When dash is running easter egg runs settings_adoc.xip and thus causing audio exploit.

HOW TO INSTALL: Copy xboxdashdata.17cdc100 folder to C:\. Copy settings_adoc.xip from ndure installation folders “xboxdashdata.185ead00” folder to C:\xboxdashdata.185ead00\.
Copy ST.DB from Ndure installation folders E\TDATA|fffe0000\music\ST.DB to E:\TDATA\fffe0000\music\

HOW TO RUN: In xboxdash go to Music>blank soundtrack>Copy>Select>Copy>New Soundtrack><<Eggsβox>>(with two '<' Symbols, capital 'E', beta Accent 'β' and two '>' Symbols)>Done (UberDash starts)>Music>blank soundtrack>Copy>Copy>New Soundtrack>Done
Note: Use kernel specific ST.DB for best results.

HOW TO GET: Now avaliable on Xbins! (/XBOX/Console Based Applications/exploits/_Packages/Kingroachs Installer folder)

I'm anxious to give it a shot. I'm installing NDure right now.
kingroach
check it out.. I just uploaded this.. look at the end of post.
ipodder2003
I'll test it right now and report back. I checked out the beta, but I'll give this a go.

ipodder2003
Finished. I just installed it and it worked great. I restored my original C afterwords to install xbox live, and now I just have to get 007 back from my friend to reinstall it. Major kudos to kingroach and all involved. This is the new exploit of choice!
kingroach
glad it worked out?.. did choose retail setup or just basic files?.. beerchug.gif
krayzie
Nice you made some package out of the ndure so more people can enjoy it. However I don't think the way it's distributed is permitted on these forums (according to the files it contains). I don't wanna be a gamebreaker. It's just some kind of a warning I guess. If you have reasons to convince me otherwise please share them.
ipodder2003
If there's nothing built with the XDK, it's ok though, right? I figure xbins would be better, but for now it seems alright.

I did the retail setup, and generic fonts on my 3944 kernel. Worked wonderfully.
krayzie
Well it (seems to) contain the xonlindedash.xbe which is copyright protected.
ipodder2003
Hmm, I guess that's possible. I didn't actually check. I figured it was just the ueee fonts and the bat files all built into an exe but I guess there would have to be more.
kingroach
I am not distributing any files in the forum.. I am not even distributing files though my email.. Its the way I have been distributing my UXE installer for xboxhdm for a long time ( auto reply email). and it has been fine with mods..
krayzie
Hmmm I wasn't aware of that. Still this quote from the rules:
QUOTE
Posting/Requesting/Offering direct or indirect links to Xbox Game Roms/Backups (on media, including Hard drives or burned media, RAR or Zip File, for download or for sale), MS Dashboard Files, and any kind of (direct, indirect, or Kazaa or Torrent type) link to Xbox XDK Produced Homebrew
clearly mentions (in)direct links are not permitted.
RiceCake
Looks like krayzie beat me to the line.

Either way, I'm kinda leaning to krayzie's side on this situation.

Edit: Your signature also contains an indirect link to copywritten files, unfortunately, since xboxhelp.tk has your Ndure installer directly avaliable.
DaddyJ
Rules are rules wink.gif , but honestly, there are other ways that are more discreet.

BTW, great job on this, another great release.....
kingroach
its not a dircet link.. I mean its an email address.. and not even the email contains any illegal files.. so its a kind of dual link.. X-S frontpage posts news for new dash/installers regularly..and the news contains link to the official website and the website contains dircet link.. anyway.. the email doesnt contain any illegal files..

edit: ok I removed the link ( email).. I will add some other way...
RiceCake
Well, its tough kingroach...the forum rules say one thing while everyone else seems to do another.

The e-mail address though, well, its an indirect link I would say because your clearly offering the Ndure installer to people who message that address.
krayzie
maybe you could do it devz3ro style and add a patch that creates the right files from peoples own dash files.

Maybe, yes lets make this n"oo"b friendly as its setup is a little more involved, but the installer works great king*, checked it on 2 setups 5838 & 5101, all options.

QUOTE(DaddyJ)
if anyone would like the custom font compiler, to include ndure fonts, let me know, if not then im not going to mess with it.

Sorry for being late, i'll take a look at this later. If needed / wanted I can put together a similar exe that was used to create ueee.

pin for now

Congratulations kingroach - mainly for the NDure explanation - you say in your one root post what eh took 22 pages of posts to say. tongue.gif biggrin.gif wink.gif

Contrary to kingroach, not all FTP clients respect the alphabet, since uploading my hack I could easily tell FileZilla likes to upload the /xodash/ folder at the same time as it processes the /media/ folder (Assuming its on a multiple connection upload).

By the way to any newbs, idiots, know it alls, etc visiting this thread - if you can't understand every single word in This Guide On XGuides then don't play with Ndure. UXE works fine.

Anyone releasing a legal package to patch files is welcome to use the bandwidth provided at XGuides.
kingroach
sorry for my late post.. went to my bros. graduation..anyway..Tnx for all your support. smile.gif I removed any direct links from my blog so it should be XS- Friendly now. About the whole linking and illegal files thing.. we all live in a gray world dont we.. I cannt argue with all the mods here.. if there is rules then that should be followed.

QUOTE

I tried to make a noob proof installer.. so that users wouldnt need anything of expect the installer.. A patch can be created for generic use but a patch wouldnt have as many options and configuarations like an installer.

Although technically you can call this installer a patch.. ( can we?).. I mean apatch contains differentiation bits between two files in an crypted form and an installer contains full bits of files in crypted form.. There is no way di-assmble the installer.

Well basically you just have to use a patch to create the right xonlinedash.xbe. then extract all the needed files out of the dash and that's it. The fonts are legal to distribute so in the end people would only have to add some retail (maybe cut it to 5960 only) dashboard files and a replacement dashboard (Evox).

But the best and easiest thing offcourse would be xbins distro. I'm sure Devz3ro can see the use of this (as oposed to many old and/or shitty stuff hosted there) and grant you a submision.
eh.
@kingroach: thanks again dude.

Thank you everyone that helped evolve and develop/test Ndure. love.gif

Primarily wrayal formulated the "retail" setup and Cio the "basic" setup.

SFAIK, "my methods" aren't implemented by this utility - the "fonts" and "starter" setups with their dashupdate.xbe 'safety nets'. Maybe they will be deemed useful for it or others eventually too (such as this awesome sounding work-in-progress of triggernum5's perhaps?) ... only time will tell.
ipodder2003
Glad xbins is being considered.

Here's a huge thanks from me to all involved. I'm playing on Live right now with ndure installed, no problems, big hard drive and all. Way to go guys (at risk of sounding lame), and that sounds like a pretty uber team.

Thanks again.

I think by "over-looking" he ment "look past, fail to notice". Meaning it won't be at xbins.

Edit: N/M Dev cleared this up for me... Great job with the installer.

as i am a totally noob on Ndure installing, i have to ask this:

- nkpatcher will be installed, but i can`t choose between .06 and .67? hmmm, isn`t this needed?
- i whould like to see unleashx to be provided with this installer, along with the great project mayhem III skin. but i can change that for myself, so it`s okay smile.gif
kingroach
I did PM Iriez about a month ago about my other installer ( UXE installer for xboxhdm).. didnt got any reply so I thought he is not here.. I also tried to find him in the xbins irc..

I added a dummy file in my first version of the installer.. then thought what if users tries to update dash files etc. so it might be best if users create their dummy. I will add detail instruction on the tutorial.

for now nkpatcher .06 is installed, right? so this for now is only an installer to work on boxes with hd up to 250gb? i think thats alright for 95% of all softmodding people. but it should be changed for future. as the default dashboard should be changed to unleashx, the best dashboard out there..
kingroach
no it uses .67 nkpatcher.. I used evox to keep the size as small as possible but I will look into unleashx.. If I can get it under 10MB then its fine..
eh.
Glitch:

I tried the awesome "M$ dash conversion" feature; copied my 5960 (185ead00) to a folder, chose that folder name and it added the files into a sub-folder named C.

No worries: I then deleted that C folder, re-ran it, manually removed the '/C' it appended to the folder name and it worked as expected.

Suggestions:

1: could this particular aspect of the installer also create the shadowc.img (that would nearly fill the C-partition)* so that the user wouldn't subsequently be at risk of dashupdate.xbe clobbering it entirely (unless they decide not to ftp the shadowc.img over)?

2: I haven't checked, but if the virtualEEPROM isn't enabled already could it be (and pre-named) but not actually created, so that a "non-overwritable" virtualEEPROM results?

3: could the "retail" setup be the default (instead of the "basic") so the user must uncheck things if they decide not to have the settings required for that?

_______
* It wasn't discussed in the original thread, but for the "retail" setup dashupdate.xbe only clobbers the entire softmod if there's more than 13.6MB free in C. (With less free, as was discussed, it clobbers the /C/xboxdashdata.185ead00 [plus /C/fonts if it exists] folder and contents).
eh.

*

Addendum: In the latter case (or if it's aborted in time), the tray-closed softmod boot remains operational and would be used to re-instate the open-tray retail boot (by deleting the resultant fonts.du and xboxdashdat.du folders then recovering the stock xboxdashdata.185ead00 folder from backup).

I am updating the installer.. with new installer, shadowc will be autometically created.. There will be three dummy file.. shadowc.img which is shadowc and 300MB, and one 50MB dummy and one 4MB dummy.. This will enable future user updates if they want like adding a new dashboard or adding something.. even if they want to install largest dashboard.. they can just remove the 50MB file to make the space..

Where can I find Ndure?
Icare
I have no clue where to find it. I search for "clues" on the blog but, I couldn't find anything, maybe I'm just dumb. Could you PM me or something with an e-mail or whatever?
ipodder2003
Can't request files here.
eh.
Hmm, this thread's "gone quiet" already ... was it the copyright challenges, 'war of the mods' or maybe the reality check?

Can anyone think of a viable way to PREVENT dashupdate.xbe's clobbering the dashboard in retail mode?

It was discussed in the original thread (starting here) but went nowhere. Maybe someone in this thread can overcome that "noob-friendliness" obstacle...
kingroach
does dashupdate.xbe first delet C:/fonts and C:/xboxdashdat.xxx and then create xboxdashdat.du or It first creates xboxdashdat.du and then deletes previous dashboard..

I dont think there will be another update.. since Conker was last XBL punch and it didnt have any updates..

so you are saying with a retail dualboot setup when a dashupdate occurs they still are able to replace the xboxdash.xbe and place a fonts folder with retail fonts. How would they do that with a full C drive? How did your xbox boot after the upgrade? To the dash or to an error screen?
ipodder2003
I haven't filled up my C drive yet. I just overwrote the Evox with my usual XBMC as dash as soon as I got it running completely. When I booted, either eject or power button, just stock MS dash.

What's the best way to fill up the C drive? A shadow C?

halfway thru the thread, and quite a lot after i first pointed out that ndure basic files existed and thus could be used in the same way UXE complete is used by most first time softmodders now.

But hope to see something up soon, at least the work will be able to benefit more ppl now.

Still, i think a nice savegame installer or even a simple NKpatcher bootstrap + small boot ISO to get all this going from the xbox itself would be very nice.

I'll try it this weekend.

Triggurnum is making a gamesave instaleer for Ndure.. But It wont contain the Pre-live fonts.. users need to ftp that..

I chaanged the download page and made it like triggurnums page and blackwars installer page.. so it should be much more easier to get the files now.

@kingroach: so it's not a glitch (it's by design); apologies. Hopefully it was "just a me thing" that others wont do ... but (if you haven't yet) maybe it would be worthwhile clarifing in the readme's "Patching C drive files" section?

Thanks for implementing '1:', confirming '2:' and looking into '3:'.

Btw, I suspect 1.5's shadowc/filler1.img is a too advanced for most to use correctly (without a spoon or hand-hold)...
