Hello, when i first got halo2 and tried to sign in it said it would not be able to due to modifications on my xbox. So i borrowed my grampa's xbox until i got this all sorted out. I tried googling it but no help. Then i gave up and put it to the side, but no im back to fix it. Ok i have a 120gb Maxtor harddrive loaded with about 30 games and a couple movies. I also have an alladin advance LIVE modchip installed by someone else. Also a thompson 1.4 im pretty sure. Im a novice to intermediate modder, i can do pretty much everything exept the sodder, flashing bios or installing other dashboards. Can someone please help me get my xbox back online?

PS - Xlink dont cut it for me(im an intense competitive gamer).

so thre really isnt much you can do, now is there?

youll need a new, stock hard drive and a virgin eeprom, install both of those and youll be good for Live

alternatively, you can get a new hard drive of any size, a virgin eeprom and a new gamertag/Live account

Wait wait wait wait....your grampa has an xbox?!
Leprickahn
well i still have my old stcok xbox harddrive, but is there anyway in the world i could have my 120gig drive and still play on LIVE(with my games on and shit).
ChuckBales
Im pretty sure if you boot with the chip off and the retail disc in the drive you can play live, i dont think you can play games on live off of the hd, as you would need the chip on to access those backups
Leprickahn
Thats exactly what i did to get banned. i turned off the chip then popped in the disc and im banned.
Otrice
well that doesn't make sense, i do that all the time and it works fine.
Leprickahn
So do you guys think if i got a new eeprom(help needed), then just turn off the chip and put the retail disc in i could play on LIVE?

deacon187
nope youll still need a new hard drive too, and a new gamer tag if you want to use a larger drive

youll need a new stock HD and a new eeprom

you probably got banned becuase you upgraded your HD(Live detects HD changes after youve signed up, so if you signed up under your stock HD then upgraded to the 120 Live will ban you)

and now that you have been banned your gamertag is flagged, so any use of a non stock HD will result in another ban, which is why you must use a stock HD

you can still keep your 120 and use it offline

if you get anew Live account (that isnt flgged) youll be able to use a large HD, but you still wont be able to used your banned 120, youll need a new one

its all layed out in the marriage theory 101 ythread linked in my sig
