Now is this possible on Duox2's by cutting or removing one of the pins or traces?

Write cycles are inhibited by holding any one of OE# = VIL, CE# = VIH or WE# = VIH. To initiate a write cycle, CE# and WE# must be a logical zero while OE# is a logical one.
From the data sheet.
That means tie #WE high to write protect the rom.

hmm rather dont see y installers bother flash protecting chips, if customer fucks up flash just charge them like $10 to fix it, they dont like it bad luck.
