Hi,
I've been playing with my box for about 6 month now and have a strange problem with the DolbyDigital (DD) feature.

My hardware:
XBox 1.1 (with X2 lite)
Advanced AV Pack
Optical connection to Yamaha DD-receiver

The beginning:
In the ms-dash I set up the Audio with Surround=yes, DD=yes, DTS=yes! Everything worked fine (games, XBMP,...).

The problem:
Approx. 3 weeks ago I wanted to play MK Deadly Alliance. I got no sound. So I checked the receicver, optical cable, AV-Pack,... everything seemed allright. I started XBMP, started a movie, the receiver switched to DolbyDigital and I had sound. Then I started MKDA again, the receiver switched to DD - but no sound. Then I connected the 2 RCA Audio-Out from the AV-pack to the TV and... sound was there.

Then I turned off the mod and started ms-dash. Inserted a game and started it... receiver turns on DD and... no sound (except TV).

Then in the setup I disabled DTS - same problem no matter if original game or from HD. Receiver switches to DD and no sound, TV plays sound.

Then I also disabled DD in the setup and... I had perfect sound coming out my receiver (still over the same optical cable) but only in Prologic.

I got a new AV-pack, same shit. By the way... at all times where DD was enabled, when watching a movie with XBMP the receiver switched to DD and I had sound, only those damn games didn't work.

Why does my DolbyDigital doesn't work anymore? Any suggestions out there? Please help
Michael

I have the same setup as you do. I have a Yamaha receiver also the only difference is that I have a v1.0 Xbox. I really don't have any ideas to help yet, but was curious to know if you have this problem with your mod chip off. Does this problem occur the same with both the chip on and the chip off?

DAAAAAAAMN! You know what.... I grr.gif

Do you have children? If yes - watch out! blink.gif

It took me many days to see what that damn box was doing. Mod on, mod off, Surround enabled and disabled. Tonight, after a really long time I wanted to watch a movie on DVD and guess what - yes - there was no sound except the centerspeaker. huh.gif

Then I started checking on the receiver and after some time I finally found the problem. Somebody (guess who) must have switched the receiver from speaker A to speaker B. That caused the "no sound except center" problem, since there is no speaker on B conected. It was so simple that I overlooked it for weeks.

But hey... learned again... check the most obvious things first! beerchug.gif

And I really thought my box was screwed up! Please don't laugh too loud now laugh.gif

Thanks
Michael

You know, as awkward as that sounds, that has happened to me before. It just wasn't with my Xbox, but with my regular DVD Player. It's funny how you can figure things out when you ask others for help... smile.gif

I had the exact same problem 3 days ago!!! I thought my new Digital Surround Sound System had gone down but I tested with another source and it was fine, I turned DTS off, then went back to it nada, turned it back on, all of a sudden sound back, now I beleive I know the problem as I have a Recording Studio and had a problem like this with my Yamaha 01V. Its to do with digital signal being extremly volatile to electricity spikes and surges. Power surges/spikes knock out digital connections, so you need a mains filter, or spike/surge protecter! When this happened to my 01V I phoned tech support and the bloke told me that, when I investigated further it turned out that my fridge in the kitchen (different room) was spiking when it turned on! Hope that helps for future peeps too.
