you bought a modchip without doing any research what-so-ever? all of the questions you just asked can be found in the tutorial section on the front page. also, the button can help you.

check out the makers website, teamxecuter.com they have some good tutorials, you can get the bios from xbins. Yea you should have read up more, i knew every single step before i bought my chip and saved all the info to my computer.

i never bought it yet, i am doing my reserch for asking help. i dont know what im looking at when im doing this..idk if what im looking at is the right thing thats why i asked.

Look up News Bin Pro on Google. Also, you must have an account. Time Warner usually gives one for free with Road Runner. If you have RR, your server name will be news-server.triad.rr.com (sub out triad for where you live, like NYC, etc.) (You might not need to add .com) You wont need a login name or password

with this new 'bios' or 'modchip' installed, does it come with all the software i need to burn dvds and backup my games so to speak.

thats what dashboards and apps are for. the bios just lets you run those programs. after you install the modchip you will problably have to flash a new bios onto the chip adn then you can put dashboards adn apps, etc. on ur hard drive. theres lost of info in the tutorials section of xbox-scene.

i have my xbox hooked up to my router right now...how do i get into it to copy the drives over yto my computer?

i prefer xbox media center but evox (evolution x) is a good one to start with. is your modchip installed yet? if so the first thing you should do is reflash the bios

install modchip, flash new bios, then install HDD?

if i used my crossover cable from xbox directly into pc how does that work?..any software i need to download?

ok your getting there. heres how it works. you need to ftp(sorta) you bios over. therell be instructions on the website which it seems u already found. u can use a crossover cable to directly connect your pc to your xbox or use two straight thru cables and a switch/hub/router to connect. once u get new bios flashed, you then want to make an evox boot disk. Basically that means ur putting a dashboard on a cd. you want to do this because evox lets you ftp into you xbox. You use an ftp program (flashfxp, smartftp, cuteftp, etc.) to connect to your xbox and transfer files. like i said theres TONS of tutorials on ftping and on making an evox boot disk. u should problably read the ftp one first, so you know what ips to assign. after you can ftp and stuff you wanna back up ur hdd, then u wanna find a program to format a new hdd, or IF its supported (i know x3 does) you can have your bios format ur new hdd. either way you need all the files from your stock hdd to put onto ur new hdd. once again theres TONS and TONS of knowledge out there. just search for it.

also, in that thread people are talking about banks? what are banks? and r they important? i see people r installing numorius bios'es... why? dont i just need the 3.01? they are talking about a 512 and other stuff.

when looking for a harddrive..what interface do i look for? ata 100? or ata 133? or doesnt it matter?

i dont personally have expierence with slayers but it seems to be teh easiest way to go. slayers is basically everything i explained in a nutshell. it has some dashboards on and (i think) automatically puts the dashboards on ur hdd. u can get slayers at xbins. as for the banks, the modchip comes with x amount of memory. this memory is usually split up into different sizes, like 256K, 512K, or 1mb( which would be 1024k). these different sizes make up the banks. the bios file you download will be one of those sizes, im guessing 512k. the bios that comes with it will also be one of those sizes, however the bios will not fill up all teh memory. you want to keep teh flashbios because it makes it easier to reflash your bios in the future if you ever need to. i kept my flash bios in its original bank and put my new bios in a different bank. when xecuter comes out with a new build all i have to do is switch banks and i can use the flash bios to update/flash my other bios. thats why you would want to switch banks. as far as switching banks goes on teh x2 i dont know, but the x3 has an external switch. you can probalbly find something at xecuters website

as for slayers, you would want to burn the xiso using nero, put it in ur xbox, follow the instructions, and then ftp with one of the programs.

edit: ata 133 is faster but you can only take advantage of the added speed if you put in a new ide cable? just make sure you dont get sata or serial ata

he says bank 1 has the flashbios 301...and bank 2 has 303

so does x24983 go into bank 3? or do i overright bank 1 or 2?

if bank 3 is a 512k bank. you could just overwrite bank 1 or 2. yes you need a ftp program but you cant ftp ur xbox until u have a new dashboard or have flashed a new bios onto ur chip(if the bios has built in ftp, if not use a dashboard)

i would download that new bios put it on a dvd-r pop it in my xbox and it should install automatticly?

run the bios that comes on the chip. it will prompt for the dvd if thats the way you want to go. i think its easier to use a crossover cable all you need is internet explorer.
