Hi,

My samsung 605b drive won't eject. When I press the eject button, I can hear a small noise from the dvd drive to tell to eject but it won't. I was wondering if someone knows any fixes for the trays assembly.

In my workplace I can also get a samsung cdrom (not dvd) drive that looks the similiar as the 605b. If the solution above doesn't work, I was wondering if I can get parts from the cd drive if it works or not. Thanks.

Make sure the tray isnt bumping into the top of the case. If you have recently done any changes the inside, this may cause it. Try taking off the to piece and give it a whirl.

I already have taken the lid off from the xbox and it still won't eject. Well, already have disassembled it but without luck.

my samsung drive started doing this, its all in its positioning, nothing technical.

My Samsung is doing this now too when I press the eject button I hear the gears trying to eject the tray. I press the eject button many time to get the tray open sometime it opens other times it wont even open. I have to poke front with a pin to get it to open. I tried opening the drive and when the DVD drive casing is off the tray opens like normal but when I put the case back on the tray gets stuck again. I don’t want to buy a new Samsung if this one reads my stuff perfectly its just tray. sad.gif

Ha, fixed it. It turns out that the motor belt to the tray was missing. I got the belt from the samsung cd rom drive and it is working now. This belt looks like a cheap rubber band and is probably prone to breakage and wear.

i have a samsung 616t that acts like this sometimes, it takes a good whack on the top of the drive to get it to open.

Supposedly, the magnets used to hold the tray closed are sometimes too strong for the motor to overcome, and the drive tray gets stuck.

You can replace the original belt with a smaller one (if you have braces the itty bitty rubber bands for those work great) that will get more grip.
