hi, my xbox motherboard was fried and so now my xbox is useless. I had a modded xbox with a 160gb hdd that was locked to that particular motherboard, my questions are, 1) is there any way to save that HDD or to get all my saved games and stuff off of the HDD? I reeally want all those saves ... 2) can the xbox dvd drive be used in another xbox that needs a dvd drive?

the dvd drive can be re-used but you will need the unlock key and/or the eeprom from your fried motherboard to unlock your harddrive.

I dont have either of those 2, isnt there another way?

if you used configmagic to lock it you could use the master password TEAMASSEMBLY to unlock your hdd.

and if you didn't, you'll have to desolder the EEPROM chip and solder it into another xbox. that, or you could go the extreme way and replace the HD's controller board with one from an identical drive - probably not recommended though.

The locked information is on a hidden partition on a platter and just changing the controller board will not unlock it, sorry.

well, you can use the master password and unlock it on your pc or another modded xbox.
