ok i might softmod my xbox this is what i plan to do.

1.) use mechassualt saves to get the stripped down version of linux on the box

2.)after it installs put use a install cd of xebian and install that...
(go to xbox-linux.org for the tutorial i am using)

is that pretty much it?

oh ya what is with evolution x, do i need that for a dashboard? or will the normal one be alright...

Oh. I see, thought you were looking for a uxe softmod, I don't really know of anyone here that uses that, as most people go with a uxe installer. Try the SEARCH button on top of page.

what do other softmods allow me to do?? are there any others that use the mechassault gamesave exploit?

Krayzies uXE installer is considered the best by most. look in the game exploit section in these forums. you can get it in the "usual places" look below. read FAQS and pinned topics, well i gotta go, hurricane is comin'

You could use Softmod Installer Deluxe and Auto Installer Deluxe, burn AID to disc transfer the SID mechassault file to memory card then to your unmodded xbox, run the game and load the exploit. Once this is done run AID and add all the apps you want. READ the instructions carfully as this is just a QUICK runthrough of how to do it, there may be a few more steps, I use Agent Under Fire buts it should be the same. Takes about 5mins in total to do, done about 12 boxes now and never had 1 prob. If you need help PM me.
