Ok I know that I have a 1.4 or a 1.5 version xbox, but I have no way to check the continuity between the two points to make sure which one I have. I also have ordered a Xenium SP Ice chip and it is in the mail. Ok, so my question is, if i have a 1.5 version xbox, will the solderless adapter still be a good choice of installation? I was reading the Iceguide and it said if you have a 1.5 xbox then you should use the pinheader. I have never soldered before so I wanted to use the solderless adapter.

You have a 1.4 (1.5s don't actually exist.)

So your solderless adapter will work fine

IE, they're an excuse for bad soldering.. Every "1.5" I've ever come across was just a 1.4 where the user crappily soldered LPC

OK I am such an idiot. I thought I oredered the Xenium SPICE, but I actually just ordered the Xenium Ice with a solderless adapter (USA maybe?). So will this solderless adapter work on my xbox with no soldering? Here is a link to the site:

yeah that solderless adapter will work fine in a 1.4. If you have a 1.5 (if it exists), it will not since ground and 3.3v are disconnected. You can get ground through the screw tab on the wire loom to the external led, but you will need to solder a wire to a 3.3v source on the mobo.

I wont argue that a 1.5 does or doesn't exist. Personally i have never come across one (though i'm usually too lazy to test continuity on the focus chip boards if im doing a softmod or tsop flash).

So to be honest I don't really know. This has been the first time i have ever heard of it actually not existing. I would have figured that if it was BS, that it would be more widely known around here (like the so-called 1.7).

Don't start this again, 1.5s exist, I know of a few ppl on these forums that have em. They are rare, but DO exist.
