Does anyone know how to tell between a 1.0 and 1.5 modchip??

Also I am having problems reading from the modchip. Do you have to remove the mod chip form the xbox before flashing or reading?

When I read a bios bank it reads past the limit, for example I have BIOS swithes set to on off on off (bios bank6) and when i read the bios it reads past 256K.

Can any one help?

1.5 xbit will have no gold B or Y letters to indicate where to plug in the yellow and black wires (they are there, just in black against a black background so you have to look really hard to see them)

I dont quite understand the rest of your question, but, you dont have to remove the xbit from the xbox before flashing.

I am still having problems reading and writing to the flash. When I select and read bios bank 6, the saved file is greater than 256k. When i Write to a bios location it gets to about 36000 blocks erased thaen says fail to write
