i'v done alot of reading on cooling the xbox so far i'v come up with mixed results
im able to gather both sides of the goods and bads of doing this and that

now im coming to making a design

1, i found that cutting the harddisk tray is good for the hdd but might affect cpu cooling
2, a hdd fan isn't worth while?

3, a stock fan upgrade 80mm takes away focus of cooling the cpu/mobo etc
4, 80mm fan does not? cool the hdd down?

5, cutting side air-in-take's would mess-up airflow design

6, air - IN - take is most likey not to help

after reading alot of posts tut's i'm confused about fans blowing in and cutting up the hdd tray and/or side panels will help

another thing is the http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/Images/Cool...eatsink_010.jpg
the Nvidia MPCX heat sink upgrade search shows too many mixed results??

im completly lost and need some help
im looking into this air-in-take http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/fan.php

after what i have done i would say that is about the best way to go because your right about the other reasons, but this way it gets' more air out (or in lol) and will keep your system cooler.

It's kinda up to you more than anything and trial and error but you can always wait till someone who has tried this or knows something better can post.

Free bump i guess lol,

Install an 80 mm fan blowing out and hook it up to 12 volts. This way cool your xbox alot. Honestly you shouldn't need any thing other than that unless you're doing something strange.

Ya, an 80mm upgrade would be sufficient, and if you can stand the noise, put it on 12V. The object is to blow hot air out, not suck it in. An intake fan would just blow dust throughout your system, and is probably not a good idea. It could make the xbox run hotter by trapping the air inside.

An exhaust already pulls air in to replace the air its blown out, just keep everything exhaust
