I use XBMC as my dash and UnleashX as an app for the Copy DVD option. I have no problem ftp-ing on my xbox using Qwix with XBMC as my dash

why dont you just use the DVD2XBOX application on your XBMC..
fuCt..
have u tried the 2.o build by t3ch? u will convert for all u cheaters it has a buikt in trainer updater,no more evox needed, and the new dvd menu support is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love xbmc i just wish it was easier to allow the G: drive without having to create an xml. xbmc is WAY better than Evox and Avalaunch. i especially love the ability to play music and the screensavers are really nice too. as far as skins go i give the edge to Evox, but who really cares about the skins anyways, it's funcionallity thats important

I believe you had to do that with the older versions of XBMC.

You can use trainers in XBMC now.
roormonger
You'll understand why I said that if you read the top post.

I just switch from UnleashedX to XBMC as the main dashboard simply because XB360 skin. Once you see this skin you don't want anything else. Everything else pale in comparison...i don't care what other dash offer.
Kick In Da Door
Well xbmc is what made me mod the xbox, and i like the pmiii skin better than the rest, but i think the home page should be redone.
edwinmcdunlap
XBMC is awesome... I used to use EvoX, but as soon as EvoX booted I would launch XBMC; so I figured I'd just set XBMC as my default dash laugh.gif
Jibbajaba
I use XBMC with the 360 skin and love it. I haven't tried any of the other dashboards but I see no need to. This one does what I need. (I don't use trainers, or as we called them back in the day, 'Cheats').

forgive my ignorance, but if i set xbmc as my main dash, and i need to update it with the newest version, do i need to take any extra steps to ftp to it? the fear of locking myself out of my xbox is the only reason i dont set it as my default dashboard.

Good question, I do it by DVD burning, so I would like to know too. Also I haven't changed to XBMC because it doesn't have (or at least I thing it doesn't) a good notepad, hopefully integrated with the file browser (I can't FTP to the XBox), the game saves manager and maybe something I may be forgetting.

It's funny how the black stuff is in style now with OSX Leopard and Vista. Project Mayhem 3 looks better and better everyday smile.gif

I still love mc360 though

I just switched to XBMC from UnleashX... cleaner interface, plays all my roms and games & I got my weather setup! If only I can use Live... (is the ring suposed to be green?)
cr1ms0n
the reason i use evox as main is...... I never update it..... so nothing should go wrong on boot software wise.

If you have a duel bank mod chip, flash a new bios (X2 5035) to the extra bank using FlashX. X2 5035 looks for an .ini file (that comes with the BIOS) on the F: drive that will direct it to boot from any drive. This will alow you to easyly and safely boot to XBMC on your F: drive with out any of those funny shortcuts on your C: drive.

Yes, you have to either cold boot or multiboot (see: Krazyie extras) with the original xbox dash.
Bomb Bloke
When I first modded, the installer I used gave me a choice between Unleash and EvoX. I chose the former, but eventually ditched it over XBMC (as I was loading it up nearly every time I turned on the X-Box anyway).
hackmaster
i perfer to use xbmc, but i use avalaunch so i know the machine starts. i would like to see a startup app that first tries xbmc, but if the user holds 'a'then it starts another dash, like avalaunch or whatever. does it exist?
Rotfloljfk
I use Unleash as my dash cus it has better copying/moving/deleting speeds, but I use XBMC once I'm all done in Unleash.
shadowfire36
i use uix .. i lke the look of it and how my music turns on when cut the xbox on ...

i actually like the xbmc with the 360 dash in place .... just need to figure out skinning , relplace icons, and to have music when turningon ...it would be easier since my girlfriend knows how to navigate the 360 ...she always get confused with xbox and uix

Absent Blakout
I do. Best dash I ever seen.
bmurf
Everyone that uses UnleashX or EvoX as their dash and XBMC as an app has it backwards.

I use XBMC as my dash. It is really so much better than everything. I run UnleashX as an application. UnleashX has a better FTP client and is faster for file management and it can edit txt and xml files.
0794
i use unleashx as my dash because of the FTP speed and it is so much easier to update XBMC

also unleashx allows you to change the video modes for HDTV...

So does XBMC as of today.
Rising Threat
What can you NOT do with XBMC? It's the most versatile and robust dash for the Xbox console to date. It does everything; why would you ever dream of using anything else? Hats off to the design and development team. You guys must know a thing or two... ;-)

XBMC is the Bomb anything else just doen't cut it.
Look at how much development went into this dashboard; Skins, Visualisations, Audio and video Player, DVD Navigation Menu, Custom Backgrounds, Rss Feeds,......The list could go on.
Plus you can see where Microsoft got there inspiration from with the XBOX 360.

I am using the XTv Skin and its just sweet.
NeoMorph
I use EvoX as a loader becuase I download XBMC SVN's and have multiple copies of XBMC running (one I know works ok plus a test version). The main reason I still use EvoX is because I know if I screw up XBMC with the modding I can still boot up and fix the problem.

gordo1111
I use XBMC as the primary dash and UnleashX for secondary just in case something goes wrong.
nugznmugz
I've used just about every dash worth mentioning and some not worth it. I leave avalaunch on my box like the others said for Qwix and speed boost, but I only use it as an app. XBMC is my first choice these days, having seen how far it's come from it's inception. I was using UnleashX for a while, and it's a dash with a ton of potential, but XBMC just makes my Xbox into the Freakishly awesome Media Console it should have been from day one!

BTW it think it's funny how many people are so sceptical about XMBC as a dash, it's the most updated, most integrated, most attractive, most fun, most supported, and god damnit the BEST dash around. Personally I can say that you're a fool if you don't at least give it a shot.

I wish UIX hadn't died though, that was a cool concept.
reab
The XBox, XBMC and car navigation are the best inventions of the last decades.
Oh and hacking too.
And Ren&Stimpy

Using xbmc as my dash a while was using unleash x but found i was just loading xbmc all the time so decided to cut out the middle man. Not really playing games on the xbox since i moved onto the 360. The only downside is that i cant copy a game disc to the hard drive with it so have to keep unleash x on the hd to do that every now and then.
hekso
I use Evox on (softmodded boxes) for my Boys and some of their friends as well But used it on My Box for an hour till i played with XBMC and have used XBMC ever since XBMC seems to be more entertaining and a little better if you like messing around watching movies and for music and looks a lot better on a 60 inch plasma than the other dash boards we currently have at our disposal come on guys it does almost everything and works great with a Xenium Gold Mod Chip i have four boxes one Evox one Avalaunch and two XBMC and all of my Boys Preffer XBMC But Dont get how to use it Yet
And it is going on the 2nd year with XBMC

XBMC rules, my life has never been the same since. the ability to stream music and videos from your PC, is worth it alone. then the MC360 skin makes it look great. and to the people saying they still use evoX to use trainers, XBMC supports trainers, and even if you can't get them to work, you can download Xored's Trainer Launcher (don't have the link, sorry, google it).
Ralob
XBMC is my main Dashboard. It is the best thing since sliced bread tongue.gif
NineT9mustang
r u guys kidding me jeez.

evox>xbmc. evox is much better than xbmc

i hear xbmc devs release new builds only once a week, what lazy ppl
qwerty12
I use UnleashX because of the simplicity but I do love XBMC as an app happy.gif
Bart_NL
Offcourse I use XBMC as my dashboard, I haven't found a feature that another Dash can do and XBMC can't.
Lush
XBMC is the best dashboard going...
Hoppy
I use my Xbox now primarily as a Media Center, so XBMC is a perfect choice.
mysticrider92
I use XBMC as my dash, it is probably one of the best programs I have seen in a long time. When I first softmodded my Xbox, I used EvoX, then tried Avalaunch and liked it, but neither are near as good. I have a friend (who actually got me into Xbox modding) who uses Evox as his dashboard, but I don't think he has seen XBMC yet.
Martomo
On most of my Xbox's and Dual Boots I use XBMC happy.gif
Media, Games, Trainers, Scripts, awesome skins, what do you need more, and it work in debug aswell tongue.gif
J8son
If you are even remotely interested in a "digital" representation of your movies, music and games (the wide icons, etc are awesome) then XBMC is the ONLY choice. I not only have a theater on my Xbox but I have an arcade as well.

The only thing better than XBMC on the original Xbox will be XBMC for the Xbox 360. In time...in time... smile.gif
