I don't think extra ram support is added in the nkpatcher features. It's pretty much not used in games anyways.

figured that might be the case...not used in games, but it is used in StepMania and MameOx128.

alright, moved my question to the ndure area.

Thanks Krayzie for the brillant installer and your time!!!
Thanks A Murder of Crows for your help also!!!

Please look over my plan and tell me if I missed anything. This seems easiest for me.
I have xbox with ldots ude2 mod installed. I just got a new 300gb hard drive that I want to install
with Krayzie Ndure Installer 1.1_MA.
1. Take C folder from slayers 2.6 and put that in C folder of xboxhdm. This should give me a
clean version of C and upgrade my dash to 5960.
2. Ftp Udata and Tdata folders from xbox to E folder of xboxhdm. This should save all my regular
game saves. Replace Udata/4d530017/62D648EBF155 with Krayzie's 1.1 MA save.
3. Put EEPROM.bin in eeprom folder of xboxhdm. I got this from configmagic.
4. Create iso with xboxhdm. Burn disc. This disk should create stock xbox with 5960 dash and
Krayzie 1.1 MA game save installed. No need to use memory card.
5. Install 300gb hard drive as the only hard drive in pc. Boot with disc. Run xboxhdm. Build hard
drive from scratch. Make F. Lock hard drive.
6. Place new hard drive in xbox. Boot. Put in MA game. Run Krayzie MA save. Install Krayzie 1.1,
choose basic install with unleashx as dashboard. Ftp the Krayzie Extras folder into xbox E/apps.
Reboot and choose "Krayzie Extras" from apps. Choose nkpatcher 67 to create a G partition.
Format F and G with either Krayzie Extras or unleashx. Done

Yes, good start. But instead of using 1.1_MA, take your 1.1_MA and update it with the 1.1.1 update kit.

Yes, except again, use 1.1.1 instead.

3 is fine,

4 you can do a *LOT* more with. If you have a DVD Burner and a spare dvd-rw disc, why not go all the way? Create an E Drive folder, and in that folder put in your Apps, Emulators, Icons, smaller Games, or even your own dashboard with your own settings & skins. If you do your own dashboard, rename the folder Dashboard2 so that the installer does not overwrite it and so that it is easily renamed back to Dashboard when the mod is installed. No need to FTP in Krayzie's Extras, you can just copy the folder to E:\Apps and have it sitting there ready for you when the system starts up.

Want to go even further? get the system set up completely (don't forget to set the basic options in the official MS dashboard before you begin the mod proceedure), then go into Extras and run Professional mode. From pro mode, FTP your completely modded C drive to your xboxhdm C folder, replacing the files that were there. Then go into E:\ and copy the "backups" folder to the E folder on xboxhdm. reburn this and keep it safe... if you decide to go bigger, or your hard drive fails for any reason, run this new version of xboxhdm instead....when you use it, the drive will be 100% pre-modded for this xbox, and will just need to be locked down. You can even use this to install on another xbox, just remember to change the eeprom in the eeprom folder with the one from the system you want to mod. Remember to enable all your settings in the M$ dash first. Also, when the mod is installed, run the Extras and update the virtual eeprom.

QUOTE

5. Install 300gb hard drive as the only hard drive in pc. Boot with disc. Run xboxhdm. Build hard
drive from scratch. Make F. Lock hard drive.

5. Install 300GB hard drive as PRIMARY MASTER and as only hard drive in pc. Boot with disc, option 1. WHen loaded, type xboxhd at prompt. choose option 1 (from scratch). Make/Format F drive. Copy files from C and E to new partitions. Upon completion, Reboot, then choose Option 3 to lock drive. type "lockhd -a" at prompt. if you get a command successful, you are done with step 5.

QUOTE

Done

Nope.

6. Place new drive in box, leave box open just in case...it sucks to have to undo all the screws if the drive didn't lock or copy everything. turn on box with no game. choose basic settings, try to enable all options if possible (Dolby digital, DTS. enable Progressive scan modes by turning them "on" the pulling both triggers and clicking on both thumbsticks simultaniously). Choose your prefered video format (normal, letterbox, widescreen). *MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE YOUR PROPER TIME ZONE!!!* I've had issues with the virtual eeprom not updating the actual eeprom, so make sure you have everything enabled that you want beforehand. NOW run MA. Install Krazyie's 1.1.1 (you did update it, right?), choose basic install with unleashx. Follow on screen instructions.

Run Krayzie's Extras from Apps. choose Format Options, then "Format G Drive". if you want to have a multiboot setup, choose "launch Extras" and choose your multiboot. turn system off and back on again. Enable G drive in UnleashX's Storage settings. Clear cache. If you installed a custom dashboard, do the nessescery steps to place it in E:\Dashboard.

When all works well, turn off the system, screw the drive and the case down.

You are already using nkpatcher .067 when you install the mod....going into extras will allow you to change it from .067 (F and G drives) to .06 (only F drive). No need to do this on your setup.

Now you are done.

EXTRA CREDIT:

WHen you know the new drive is working fine, take the old drive out of the system and Unlock it with the same disc (option 3, then "unlockhd -a" from prompt). reboot and build a drive from scratch again. Relock afterwards if you want a spare drive in case your new one dies. Keep unlocked if you want to sell it, (don't build E drive if you decide to sell it....no need for anyone else to have your save game info).

Thanks for the help A Murder of Crows,
I just have finish fixing this following your advice, and it works again.
I just have to restore the xbox to stock with the creation of the rescue disc and then remod cause though it let me in to the msdashboard via evox and upgrade the sc saves, when I try to restore and unmod the xbox, krayzie´s installer tells me that there was an error (just say that last action is deleted) and just don´t let me in to the msdash anymore, but I can let in evox.
So, just prepare and burn the iso of rescue disc with the backup c drive of my first krayzie´s installation,
then I just got to remod again and it work flawlesly.
This time it´s better that I don´t put the dual boot to his console, hehe biggrin.gif
Is it really necessary to install the 1.1.1 update ?

Thanx again for your help.
PS. Answering your question, nop, the xbox wasn´t be mooded before

I have three questions.

Krayzie said on p68:

You are aware the update virtual eeprom is only to be used after you changed the real eeprom on the chip first right?

I thought that the "update virtual eeprom" was only used by people who got banned from
MSlive and had to change their eeprom to a new one to sign up again. And for people with
modchips. I did not think I had to update my virtual eeprom because I have no modchip and have
never been on MSlive.

I have never heard of this "pull both triggers and click both thumbsticks" thing to enable progressive
scan modes. Can I just go into MSdash and enable DTS,DD,480p,720p,1080i without using the "pull
both triggers and click both thumbsticks" thing?

3. What is the Progressive vga option in Krayzie's extras? I thought that the xbox automatically changes
video output(480p,1080i,etc) for each game. I use XBMC to play dvd movies and thought it
also outputs movies in progressive mode. Do I need to enable the Progressive vga option from
Krayzie's? Or should I not mess with that?

Thanks again!

I suggest it as it adds in the ability to turn off the mod, allowing use friend's list and voice chat in unmodded mode. Also, i don't see the point in spreading around outdated mod installers. Everyone who does a mod at this point in the game should use the best stuff out there.....hell, i even remodded my personal box last night for this very reason.

Krayzie sort of mis-spoke there.....

The EEprom file of each xbox is individual. If you use my "Pre Mod" method on another xbox, the virtual eeprom will be from the base machine, in other words, the original machine you pulled the ShadowC.img file from. This will cause problems, especially if the virtual eeprom is from a 1.5 or earlier and the mod is on a 1.6. It's always best to update the virtual eeprom so that the virtual eeprom is a copy of the real eeprom of the system the mod is being installed to. This makes sure that changes you make using the virtual eeprom are reflected in the real eeprom. It doesn't seem to work for Time Settings (my real eeprom was set to +2GMT for some reason, even though my virtual was set to -8GMT....time servers saw the real eeprom setting and updated my time to +2...VERY annoying), however, so be certain to set the Real eeprom with all your settings BEFORE the mod, just to be safe

THere are some technical exceptions to doing this. I freshmodded a 1.4, kept the virtual eeprom file, and then flashed the real eeprom to match my base system. this allows me to use hard drives locked to 1 eeprom on 2 different systems, but since the virtual eeproms are different, it still allows me to run LAN games over my network, so long as i'm running in modded mode.....if i had updated the virtual eeprom after changing the real eeprom, the 2 systems would have the exact same MAC address, and the network would get confused when assigning DHCP IP addys. perhaps a bit too technical to talk about here....but it is useful.

it's a featue of 5960. the MS dashboard is now in 480p, set via eeprom. enabling the modes will allow the xbox to display those resolutions, but the dashboard will still be in 480i. do the thumbstick thing to enable the MS dash in 480p mode.

Note that there is a difference between Progressive and Progressive VGA. Unless you plan on using a VGA monitor, there is no need. If you *DO* use a stanard VGA monitor, enable the switch. If you use an HDTV instead, the xbox will send out the right signal as long as you have the right cables.

Krazyie

I've chatted with some people and have come to the conclusion that some program in the installer has to be enabled for 128MB in order for me to utilize it with the soft mod.

the question i have now is, which program(s) need it, and is it possible to impliment this as an option in the installer. Since the Ram Delimiter program is an exe, the only way it can be in-cluded as an option is to do a 128MB version of the installer....I figure either the programs involved in nkpatcher itself, or unleashx needs it, but i can't get an answer as to which.....all i know is that StepManiaX couldn't see the extra ram while the soft mod was engaged....that leads me to believe it is related to NDure/NKPatcher, possibly BIOS related.

Also, would you have objection to me going into the installer and doing some minor updates? I'm currently using the latest UnleashX and a customized config.xml. Would also like to imbed 1.1.1 and correct the "carefull" typo....perhaps get it upped as an official 1.1.1 package or something.

If i can get a go for that, i'd like to know where all the copies of UnleashX are in your installer.
krayzie
I don't know how the app works. I know some linux kernels also delimit the ram so I guess the bios/kernel needs to be altered/patched.

You are ofcourse free to do what you want with the package. Maybe I'm doing some other minor updates later on and I'm thinking I will release it complete and officially when they all done.

Well, i have to find the right person to talk to.....normally i'd expect NDure Protagonist to have chimed in with an idea or 2 by now. There are several things i'd like to know....does NKPatcher patch the bios as it's loading (flubber) or afterwards. if it's before, it's theoretically possible to set it so that the patch can change the color of the flubber, or possibly even enable LCD screens....which, if it happened, i'd get rid of my chip.

but i degress. my main operating mode is chip on while i'm home, chip off otherwise. The main uses of the system are for running emulators and xbmc. i want to make sure i can use all my ram, so if you got ANY idea as to why a program that has the ability to see 128mb can't see it (i think bios limited, perhaps nkpatcher needs a tweak), please let me know. would love to hear anyone else who runs softmodded and has a 128mb upgrade.

Can you tell me where in your installer is each copy of UnleashX?

thanx much
krayzie
The exploit kicks in when xboxdash.xbe loads it's fonts. Then nkpatcher is launched and the kernel is patched. The bios boots to xboxdash.xbe so there is no way to edit anything before xboxdash.xbe loads (including the bootlogo).

And like I said before the ram is probably limited inside the kernel. If you find the app that is normally used to delimit it or maybe a bios that supports all 128 mb and you show it to xman then maybe he can implement it in nkpatcher.

And there is only one unleashx in my package. It's in the main folder named unleashx.xbe

Ravenmx74
You´re rigth A Murder of Crows, I upgraded both and are working fine.
Now I have a different problem that I see in both, but in mine are more obvius. I don´t know if are problem of hardware or what.
Games like Fifa06 looks like have a little freeze in certain parts of the game (even playing with my original games), I think I got to ask this in the hardware forum.

I found the app in the Usual Places, under Dev. i'll pass it to xman if i can. thanx for the heads up.....now, which xman do i pass it to?? there seems to be 14 of them lol

So....the default.xbe that is used as the first menu in the installer isn't UnleashX? Same for the Extras? I was going to go thru the whole package and use the newest UnleashX version, if for no other reason than because it was slightly smaller.
esskater9515
i have a problem that seems strange

somehow i f-ed using the installer and managed to completely not allow ms dash to load at all through unleashx menu or even deleting the entire mod

from wut i was tolld and understand is the only option is to copy original C: files back(i used files in slayers) and delete the old, and deleting all of e: except for udata and tdata

i did this and it booted me to an unleashx dash with only launch dvd tab, if i use the gamesave exploit it acts as if the mod is still on the harddrive(which it might be) and it will not allow me to remove because there is no backup of C: on E:(since i deleted it)

idk wut the hell to do now, since i cant ftp nemore and ms dash will not run and i have no way of even putting evox or unleash x back

seems odd that the original files will not boot ms dash when all files r present.....obviously im missing something huge here please some1 help!!!!!
esskater9515
could it possibly be because i wasnt supposed to delte the dashboard folder in e:?? this seems like a problem noone else has had because i am new to this stuff, altho i have read for HOURS, and have not found nething similar so if ne1 can tell me, its be greatly appreciated biggrin.gif
krayzie
@esskater9515: yeah you deleted your dashboard. You can still ftp to fix it. If your settings don't match just change them. Or optionally you can use the rescue disc to restore your dash.

@A Murder of Crows: there is only one unleashx inside each folder (gamesave installer, Extras and Rescue disc. Within those folder various parts and xml's are copied/renamed to make the menu look different throughout and after the installation. And I would pass it to the xman that made the latest nkpatcher additions. You will probably have the biggest chance with him.
esskater9515
hey thankx for the help guys...i figured it all out all right for some reason when i deleted the c: and parts of e:, they were restored once i rebooted my box very odd then about 2 or 3 hours later i was able to connect and ftp again idk y it wouldnt let me connect before....somethin f-ed up happened but i just redid the steps i took and it saved the replaced C: and e: the second time for some reason

I would say no. the default nkpatcher is set to .067 for a reason. this is to protect newbies from hard drive corruption.
krayzie
Actually you can. I just defaulted it to 67 because of the countless questions from newbies on what type of nkpatcher to take.
To default it to 06 just grab 06.xbe out of extras\files\nkpatcher\ and put it in your gamesave's files\nkpatcher folder and rename it to default.xbe replacing the existing one. Remember to rar back up the files folder after the replacement

Perhaps i mis-understood the question...i thought he was asking if YOU would re-release the package so that it defaulted to 0.6 instead.

Duh....next time i need to Keep It Simple, Stupid.
krayzie
Well yeah another reason to default it to 67 is that it is compatible on all hd sizes and .06 usually has a 250 gb limit so I personally would not release it defaulted to 06

Thank you A Murder of Crows for your help!!!

I finally installed my 300gig hard drive with your instructions and all went well with your help.
I installed with Krayzie MA 1.1 which I updated with 1.1.1 like you instructed.

I just have a few questions:

1) I could not find any menu item that said "update virtual eeprom". How do I do this?

2) I could not find any setting for clearing the cache, should I just ftp in and delete contents
of cache folder?

3) After install, I launched the Extras and Formatted F and G. I don't know if they were really
formatted because there was no onscreen indication of the formatting process and nothing
seemed to happen. There are no games etc. installed and I have F=123gb free and
G=155gb free. I thought I was suppose to have F=137gb and the rest on G.

4) I did not see any menu item that said "professional mode" , Is "professional mode" when I put in
MA game and load "run linux" save and the led turns red?

5) I put MA game in and loaded "run linux" . Then I ftp'd in and copied the modded C and E folders
as a backup like you suggested. I think that I can put these in xboxhdm or rescue disk to make a
backup, but what about the D folder? I have never seen a D folder. Should I add this folder to
xboxhdm?

Thanks again!!!

Copy over Krayzie's Extras to your apps folder, then run it. First option after that is "Launch Extras" which really should probably be "Launch Advanced Extras" or something like that. That's where you update the virtual eeprom.

I found an unleashx script here in the forums that i copied and put into an "Accessories & Settings" sub-menu on UnleashX. Should be pretty easy to find, even with the crappy google search. Add that script somewhere to your main Config.xml file for UnleashX, found in "E:\Dashboard." This of course assumes you are not too much of a newbie with xml editing.

Otherwise, again go into Krayzie's Extras, and Launch Extras. You'll find it there.

QUOTE

3) After install, I launched the Extras and Formatted F and G. I don't know if they were really
formatted because there was no onscreen indication of the formatting process and nothing
seemed to happen. There are no games etc. installed and I have F=123gb free and
G=155gb free. I thought I was suppose to have F=137gb and the rest on G.

If you go into the Settings Menu, you can go to the storage option and "enable G Drive". do it in each place you see the "Settings" option, including Krayzie's Extras and "Launch Extras". You might also want to do it in "Update Virtual Eeprom"

QUOTE

4) I did not see any menu item that said "professional mode" , Is "professional mode" when I put in
MA game and load "run linux" save and the led turns red?

Again, use Krayzie's Extras and then "Launch Extras". Pro mode is seen there.

QUOTE

5) I put MA game in and loaded "run linux" . Then I ftp'd in and copied the modded C and E folders
as a backup like you suggested. I think that I can put these in xboxhdm or rescue disk to make a
backup, but what about the D folder? I have never seen a D folder. Should I add this folder to
xboxhdm?

Nope. For UnleashX, "D" is your "D"isc drive.

Thanks Kayzie for everything!!!

hey krayzie - top work mate...

thought i'd crack out the old xbox and give it some new life... i'm a n00b to softmodding but i'm a sysadmin so know a little... wow - that was easy! man if only fixing all the crap my users do to their machines was that quick!

30 mins and done - that in-cluded cutting up a controller to make a usb cable and popping down to the local video store to get a copy of splinter cell!

rookie mistake - chose evox as the dashboard - should have read up on it first 'cos avalaunch & unleashx look much better...

anyways - can you tell me what order your modded bios loads the dashboard files? (i wanna keep evox on there in case i f*ck it up) but read that gets executed after the avalaunch xbe but before the unleashx xbe, but i thinbk this was for the xectuor bios? so is there anyway i can keep evox on and put unleashx on too without hassles of dropping down to my 'has absolutely nothing useful apart from cp and mv' linux install to rename the files?

again top work... so much spoonfeeding its funny... next thing u'll be going round to people's houses to do it for them! lol

sorry - too fckin early to be at work... just read my post - doesn't really make sense wink.gif

what i was trying to ask is does the ndure mod launch dash files in the following order?

avalaunch.xbe
evoxdash.xbe
mxmdash.xbe
unleashx.xbe
xboxdash.xbe

if so, is there an easier way of making unleashx load before evoxdash without dropping to linux to rename the evoxdash away...

hope that makes a bit more sense... its early YAWN

Hey there.

I *MIGHT* be wrong on this, not having checked the ndure installer/threads all the way thru, but i do have a chip, and from what you posted, you are thinking that the NDure method is using a chip bios.

It's not. NKPatcher is patching the STOCK bios in memory to "activate" a modded state. If you notice in your File Manager, Unleashx.xbe doesn't exist.

NKPatcher patches the BIOS, and at the end is set to launch E:\Dashboard\default.xbe

So....if you want to keep your Evox but do not want to use it as your dashboard, make a folder called Evox in Apps, *COPY* the files from E:\Dashboard over to E:\Apps\Evox, and then FTP or Copy over Unleashx to E:\Dashboard2. Once the files are there, especially Config.xml and default.xbe, delete E:\Dashboard and then rename E:\Dashboard2 to E:\Dashboard. Reboot, and you'll have UnleashX as your dash, and in the Applications folder on the main menu you will find Evox. You can do this for any app/program you want, though the best ones are UnleashX and Xbox Media Center.

Do it this way since you are a newbie...when you feel you've advanced far enough not to make silly mistakes that kill dashboards, you can delete the dashboard folder contents and copy over a new dash.
licous
Thanks - I see what your saying about the softmod doing things a different way to the chip - i should have done some more reading on the way nkpatcher works...

My post might not have made sense - it was very early :-( it was actually more to do with automating which dash started up at boot... I currently have UnleashX, EVOX, Avalaunch and XBMC (which is awesome - I've been using mediaportal on my htpc for ages) in folder E:\Dashboards - what I meant was that I currently have to drop down to my linux console (custom debian install) by going Apps > LicousLinux and then doing the cp/mv commands to copy/move around the dashboards to the correct locations...

I was looking for a way to choose at startup - similar to GRUB/LILO etc (obviously these wouldn't work)... Avalaunch has an option to hold down right trigger at startup to load a different dash, but I was going for a menu of all of them if possible...

I've only been at this a day so I'm definitely a n00b lol - I can't seem to find any info on a bootable dash selector... I guess its possible there isn't one - i can't see it being that difficult so maybe I could whip one up (do you know if any of the dashboards are open source? - that would help!)

PS - I know it seems strange wanting to choose between dashes at boot rather than just running them from Apps, but this is a development box - the only way to learn is to do stuff others haven't spoonfed...

Cheers

You know, even on a chip, you only can normally specify 1 altboot path...that's kinda why the dashboard is there...but i see what you are getting at.

What i would do, in your case, is ....set AvaLaunch as your main dash, with Alt-Trigger going to (Insert Dash here), then go into Krayzie's Extra, launch Extras, and set triple alt dash. Follow the instructions to Put a folder into called "AltDash" in and put (Insert Dash3 here) in that folder. That would give you Ava to start when you press the power button, Dash2 when trigger was held down when you press the powerbutton, and Dash3 when you use the eject button. If you have a disc with a habibi signed key on it that happens to have a dash on it, you get dash4 on that disc.

Another thing you can do is setup config.xml in unleashx to choose between different dashes, and use that as a "launchpad".....

but to be honest:

1 - if you are going to do that, you might as well just stick with UnleashX as a main dash and launch other dashes from it. All a basic dashboard really does is this anyway....give a list of apps that run when selected.

2 - i *REALLY* don't see the point in choosing between 3+ dashes at startup unless they can NOT be worked with together....when my system is done, it will start with UnleashX on power and dev stuff on eject. I never use AvaLaunch anymore as the only things it does that UnleashX doesn't is shoutcast (which i can get via XBMC anyway) and direct Qwix Support (Qwix being so buggy on my system that i don't use it for much anyway).

I don't use XBMC as a dash because you currently can not nest folders into each other in My Programs, which makes it REALLY unorganized if you have 30+ emulators. Nothing Evox does short of backing up the eeprom is exclusive to Evox...you have trainers in XBMC now...you can format with UnleashX....and if you install Krayzie's, it backs up the eeprom for you in the begining...anything else (lock/unlock, more eeprom stuff) really shouldn't be attempted by newbies, and for that kind of stuff there's ConfigMagic...So, i consider Evox and AvaLaunch outdated at this point...and XBMC should only be used as a dash if security gets beefed up (should be for 2.0) and if nested folders become a reality for organizational purposes (which i was told was never going to happen).

3 - None of this discussion directly deals with Krayzie's installer...you've moved past this topic, and should probably refer your questions to NKPatcher and NDure threads....which will probably tell you about the same thing i did (though i reserve the right to be wrong on this)....you can probably change the folder that NKPatcher uses to launch a dashboard, but it will still only be able to launch a dash from one place, unless dual/triple boot is in effect.....and i'm pretty sure you will still need either a custom written xbe or a script of some sort to change which dash is in that folder, and to run a script like that, you'll have to use UnleashX, which would essentially defeat the purpose of what you are trying to do anyway...

ok bud, well thanks for the info... its not NEEDED to quad boot all four, just curious to see if i could... no huge gain to be had other than learning how things work...

i'm off home to pop in a half tb drive - seems simple enough as i already have eeprom/hd key etc...

thanks for info...

It's VERY simple. i just did that myself actually....was really neat to see that the contents of my 300gb drive fit on my new G drive with 100gb still left over in G, and 137gb still left in F.

Xbox1=120gig UDE installed
Xbox2=300gig Krayzie ndure 1.1.1 installed

1) Take the modded C folder from xbox2 and put it in xboxhdm C folder.

2) Take E folder from xbox2, then replace UDATA and TDATA folders with xbox1's UDATA and TDATA,
put MA_krayzie 1.1.1 save in UDATA,and put this modified E in xboxhdm E folder.

3) Put eeprom.bin from xbox1 into xboxhdm eeprom folder.Make iso. Burn iso.

4) Put hard drive in PC, run xboxhdm, unlock drive. Turn off PC.

5) Reboot,choose make from scratch,format C,copy C, format E, copy E.

6) Reboot, choose locking, lock hard drive.

7) Put hard drive in xbox1. Should boot up modded with all my games still on F with all my saves. Update
virtual eeprom. Change font to match new kernel.

Thanks

Make sure the MA 1.1.1 save is virginal, aka never run. You'll have xbox2's version of it in the UDATA folder from xbox2 when you copy it over, and if you launch the save it will not give you the option to install. other than that, so far so good. be aware that it is *POSSIBLE* that you may have to change nkpatcher to 0.6 if your games do not show up.

Now, what *I* would do.

1. Get a Router.
2. Make sure to have a backup of xbox1's eeprom on your PC.
3. Set all settings on xbox1's eeprom
4. Setup both xbox systems on network and turn on AutoDetect.
5. Use FTP Browser in UnleashX to copy your legal backups from Xbox 1 to xbox 2.
6. coldboot xbox1 with exploitable game and get to the game exploit menu. THis should give you access to Real C on xbox 1, assuming UDE used a ShadowC.img
7. reboot xbox2 and access Krayzie's Extras, Launch Extras, Professional Mode. This gives you access to Real C on xbox 2
8. Using Xbox 2, FTP in and Delete C drive in Xbox 1.
9. Using Xbox 2, copy xbox2://Real C:/*.* to Xbox1://Real C:/
10. Do same for E:
11. Reboot and update Virtual Eeprom

This should have the same effect, only without the need for the PC, which i find cumbersome unless nessescery.

I did not think that this was possible!

My xbox1 uses the ldots UDE1 , no virtual C drive. I thought about replacing the C and E of xbox1 with C and E of xbox2 by using ftp from my pc,but I think that if I ftp into xbox1 while its running evolutionx dash and delete its C or E it would kill xbox1. Just like if I ftp into a windows pc and try to delete its C drive with all its windows operating system files. Am I wrong about this?

Xbox1 uses a dual boot. If started with the eject button, a MXM menu pops up with some options like
install, uninstall. Maybe this is at a more basic level, like DOS. Maybe I can ftp in during this screen and
change C and E without problems. I will check into this idea. What do you think?

Thanks again

I replace the contents of C and E all the time while running. I'd say, just make sure you are using a default skin in UnleashX and you should be fine.

No, it's not like windows....in the case of the xbox, the xbe file for the dash is loaded into RAM completely, as is the patched bios.....so deleting and replacing those files won't be a problem at all. You just want to make absolutely sure you do things right....make that rescue disc.

In my "tool set", i have the following:

1 - Extras disc (Apps, Emulators, Custom Dashboard, Icons, Homebrew Games)
2 - Extras Disc 2 (Apps, emus, dash, icons, homebrews, only with all apps/emus set up for a box with no F)
3 - Rescue disc (Stock C drive, Game Saves, may expand to in-clude updated E stuff)
4 - Rescue disc 2 (Modded C drive, apps, emus, icons, dash)
5 - Generic C 1 (XboxHDM disc on DVD-RW, stock C drive - NO EEPROM!!)
6 - Generic C 2 (as above, only pre-modded C drive - NO EEPROM!!!)
7 - Eeprom Specific C (xboxhdm that i make on a case by case basis on dvd-rw. No hard drive files, just eeprom. burns in 13 seconds).

eventually, i want to see if i can update krayzie's installer a lil bit so i can eliminate some of my steps....i use a customized UnleashX config.xml file and i'm tired of deleting the stock one. I also use an updated version of UnleashX than what is in-cluded in the installer....Also thinking about adding in the ability to access the file manager from the main exploit menus, by means of passcode....

I transfer the C and E from the Krayzie modded xbox to xbox1, it would already be modded when I
reboot it and I would not have to run the save. I'm trying to do this without using a game because of the

Ah yes...well let me correct some things here....the way you described things:

QUOTE

sounded like you were doing this:

Take entire E Drive from Xbox2
Replace UDATA/TDATA with xbox1's
Put Exploit save in UDATA <-- Sounded like you were going for a clean mod, even though i SAW you say Modded C.

Anyway, i wrote that post when i should have just gone to bed. You wanted to copy the exploted save from xbox 2 and put it on xbox 1. You were right, that is the correct thing to do in your case.

though (and i may be wrong here), i don't think it would have mattered which way you did it if you wanted it premodded....the key was getting Real C copied....once that and an E:\Dashboard exists, you're modded....you don't have to access the save for much of anything.....and if you do access the save, it should give you the option to "Switch Menu"

I have found, however, that using a non-virginal save on a stock xbox leads to nothing....which is why i suggested what i did....somehow i forgot you were going for pre=mod.

A Murder of Crows,
Thanks for your help!

I ended up taking the good dvd drive from my new xbox and putting it in the old xbox. I then ftp'd in and replaced the C folder with a clean C from Slayers 2.6,then I deleted everything off the E except UDATA,TDATA and Cache, then I put Krayzie MA 1.1.1 in the UDATA. After reboot, I had a stock xbox with 5960 dash. I then put in MA game and ran Krayzie 1.1.1. I then put the dvd drive back in the new xbox. Everything went great.

I want to connect this xbox to a lcd pc monitor. Can you point me to a good thread about doing that?

Thanks again for all your great advice!

http://www.x2vga.com/

that will get you to VGA via component. can't tell you much about LCDs in general. My LCD has SVideo Inputs, but my xbox runs on a Mitsubishi MegaView Pro 37.....a CRT PC monitor...if the LCD uses analog VGA, you are fine....if it uses DVI, you'll need at LEAST an adapter.

Also, if your xbox is 1.6, you may find that not all your apps/emus/programs work right. Krayzie added in support for the VGA patch, but i do not remember if it was automatic (i think it was) or if you needed to turn it "On" in Extras, Advanced Extras, or Save.

I suggest a 1.4 xbox....the only problem i have with Progressive scan modes are with games that don't support it.
kana007
A Murder of Crows,

Thanks for the info. I will consider that adaptor.

I have one game that is giving me problems after this mod. The game is Serious Sam. The problem
is that it will not play from the hard drive in 480p. The sound is good but the picture is a mess. It will
play from the dvd drive in 480p no problem. It will play in 480i if I change setting in MS dash to 480p=no.
I cleared the cache, changed to the correct font, deleted the contents of X,Y,Z. I transfered the game to hard drive using dvd2xbox, unleashx filebrowser, from pc to xbox with FlashFXP. My other xbox can play this game from hard drive in 480p with no problems.
I updated the virtual eeprom. Could that have anything to do with it?

What could be causing this?

Thanks
