*SIGHS*

1. Find/Download Krayzie's NDure Installer 1.1 from the usual places
2. Get into your box via FTP and delete the save game files for the installer and exploit
3. Follow previous instructions to create a rescue disc.

if you don't understand these instructions, you'll need to go back and learn basics. there is a newbie forum just for that, though you will be told to SEARCH and READ THE TUTORIALS

Learn these:

How to FTP
How to access The Usual Places
How to use Qwix

I've read thru the TSOP guides and can not find out one tiny piece of info.

someone came to me with a tsop'd box and would like it updated. I only use your installer.

is there an easy way to remod his box, keeping his bios and such, but using your installer?

thanx

Hey, What exactly does he want updated? The Apps on his HDD? The BIOS on his TSOP? Dashboard??

It was modded over a year ago. it uses AvaLaunch as a dashboard, and that's outdated anyway. he wants the box to match the one i just modded for him (Krayzie's 1.1, unleashX with my personal settings).

So, I'd say it would be fine to take it back to stock and just soft mod, but we don't have the tools, so i'd like to do whatever i can to get it 100% updated (Bios and dashboard) and using Krayzie's.

thanx for any info...i don't do TSOPs, and from what i can tell, i'm glad for it

I installed the softmod via Krayzie's ndure 1.1. Wow! What a great program!

I now would like to upgrade the HD. Can someone please point me in the right direction for a good, reliable tutorial and/or recommended program?

I made a rescue disc. Krayzie's 1.1. instructions indicate that one can use a rescue disc to set up bigger HDs.

Can I just attach the new HD, put the rescue disc in, and follow the onscreen instructions?

Thanks much. biggrin.gif

i cant get live to work for some reason... installed the dual boot... and i cant get live to work on a cold boot either... is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Dudditz
Had a quick question, didnt know where to post.(new to the forum)
I love the fact that you can leave the dashboard in a modded state due to the retail game boot option.
Question is:Am I still safe fom XBox Live with a 160GB hard drive installed?
I have multiple drives in my XBox and Live is enabled on all of them, yet I would like to disable the Live option on my larger drive.(obviously)
If I booted to a retail game on my 160GB drive, does it still have LIVE access? If so, how would I disable it?Since the M$ dashboard is virtualized, could I simply corrupt the network settings (ie provide unreachable DNS or IP) before I installed Krayzies package, therefore having XBox Live restricted in the virtual drive?
mitov
Hi everyone...

I am completely new here...and have no idea about all of this technical thing. What exaclty is Softmod? Will it make my xbox play any types of games, ie back ups?

If yes, how do i do this? Where can i find the files to do this? I tryid the soldering ones, but i managed to muck up my xbox by pulling half of its motherboard tracks out. Luckly, very luckly, i repaired it.
krayzie
@A Murder of Crows: the nkpatcher will probably fail t load on a hacked bios

@saunderm: read the pinned topics. there are tutorials

@dom0012: are your network settings ok? read the readme

@Dudditz: you can only go live with hd's if that xbox was never connected to live before. also when the mod is active any live connection will be blocked. this block won't be active on retail coldboots though. the best connection blocker is unhooking your network.

@mitov: read the pinned topics

My unit is a v1.0 with 4817/4920. The ndure 1.1 minimal install went swimmingly, and thanks to Krayzie and others for such an amazing piece of work.

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but I've read a whole bunch of the tutorials and the "things you need to know abt xbox" thread and a lot of this thread, and I still don't have a good clear understanding of the following:

I've never been on xbl and have no immediate plans to. Do I need to worry about getting a dashboard 5960 (I assume that xbl just updates you when you get on) and getting dual or tri boot working? If I ever did want to get on xbl, what would I have to do?

Thanks.

i'd just update my dash if i were you. you can use any newer live enabled game to update. I used Jade Empire and Dead or Alive Ultimate.

just get stock 5960 dash files from slayers 2.6. put them in the msdash folder in the extras folder and select add msdash files in the extras menu

Yo Krayzie, thanks, great installer...the only thing I'm disappointed about is that you removed the multiboot option from the instalelr (yes, I know its in the extras, but its more work for lazy me biggrin.gif)

I installed Krayzie's Ndure v1.1 installer.

I plan on moving the xbox from one location to another, which means I will have to unplug it.

Is there anything special I should do to prevent clock issues? Will unplugging the xbox screw up the softmod?

Thank you.

There should be no issue with the clock. I've heard that all these new exploits and software packages are not prone to the clock loops.

I've left my Softmodded box unplugged many times and all it wanted was to reset the clock. no problem at all smile.gif
krayzie
the clock loop problem has not been an issue for ages. you could leave it unplugged forever if you want to.

No. Create an Extras disc or copy the Extras folder over via FTP. Run the extras, then choose Multi-Boot options. choose Dual-Boot with Live Dashboard, reboot and you are golden

Im having problem using Action Replay. I downloaded the Krayzies installer, according from the readme file i should just transfer the file to the AR, but how? should I rename the zip file? I tried rename the zip file it works, meaning the software of AR(actiona replay) can recogniez the file, but if I don't it will not appear on the list. How did I rename it? I took one from the list in save folder. I move the original save and replace it by Krayzies save files and rename it. And that's the time I can put the save file into memory card.

After saving the Krayzis save file into AR mem card. turn on the xbox and save the two file into xbox hd. I inserted my Original SC. what I noticed though is if I connect my xbox to internet the "Donwload Levels" activates if I don't I can't access it. WHY? so what I did is keep in connected to net or in network. but once I select the donwload levels. it ask me to subscribe to XBOX LIve. why?

compare this to old installer v1, once I select load levels Linux apprear but here it ask me to subscrib.

can somebody help me here pls. I believe I'm on track I'm just missing something I guess.

I would really appreciate your help on this.

Thank You

You asked a lot of questions in a couple of statements. here's the breakdown:

Action Replay
----------------
1. Download Krayzie's package based upon what game you are using (Splinter Cell in this case)
2. Download the Action Replay software
3. Install Action Replay to your PC
4. Connect cable and action replay mem card. Install drivers as nessescery
5. format the Action Replay or Memory card.
6. open Krayzie's package and "drag n drop" any zip file in the folders marked Save to the Action Replay software. Action Replay should recognize the files as Splinter Cell and Linux Installer.
7. Drag n drop the files one at a time (there isn't enough space for both) to the Action Replay.
8. Delete any game saves for your chosen exploit game as well as any previous Linux or softmod installer related game saves.
9. Copy over the save game from the action replay cart.
10. repeat steps 7 thru 9 for Save 2

Running the installer
-----------------------
11. Read the Readme file in Krayzie's package. read any txt or nfo file you see. this should tell you everything. if not, please see 12.
12. go back to step 11. if you have done this 3 times and still need help, go to step 13.
13. Using splinter cell original disc, start the game, choose "load game" then choose linux profile and then "checkpoints"

ive used SID to softmod xboxs, done over 30 by now, never had any problems with it. In spite of this, everyone seems to point towards your software when talking about the best softmodding solution. What does this software offer me that SID doesnt? Thanks a ton
krayzie
I don't know much about sids as I never really used them other then I looked at the scripts. But mine certainly has much more features and is more stable and has a very different approach into getting an xbox softmodded. The sid menu structure is like a big list in where you have to select all the steps yourself and mine is more like a guided process with not many options (apart from optional customizations). If you feel content with sid and you know what to do cuz taking wrong option will get you an erroring xbox like many allready have faced (especially with older sids) and you don't want more features (multiboots to several dashes, dash managment, professionall mode, eeprom tools, led controll, fan controll, video controll and more)I suggest you stick with sid.
bronxbombers2k6
Hi Krayzie (and all the fellow softmodders out there),

I just want to let you know that I have used your installer (Krayzie Ndure Installer v1.1) to successfully softmod my xbox this past weekend. Thank you sooo much for making the softmod such a simple and painless process.

I was so worry that I was going to turn my xbox to a huge paperweight, but everything went so smooth and well.

Thank you again.

zimdba
I'll echo bronxbombers2k6 and say that the process was quick and easy. I was up and running with Ndure 1.1 and XBMC within a couple of hours.

Question:
How do you switch between the default dashboard (UnleashX) and Evox? All the files were there with the 1.1 installer, but the only instructions were: "copy to the DASHBOARDS folder." OK, which files? Which needs to be named default.xbe? This is after loading up the Krayzie extras.

Thanks.
krayzie
You need to manually add your favorite dashboard to that folder. Just get a copy of the dash you want from the usuall places.
zimdba
so the entire contents of the RAR file then, right?

Is 3935 the latest build?
gigertick
the latest version of the NDURE installer. will it support hard drives larger than 137GB ? is it totally xbox live safe ?

krayzie
obviously. be not afraid to read

I jsut successfully modded my xbox. Wow, it was much easier than I expected. I have a question though, now that i've just modded my xbox, how can I ftp to my xbox? I tried using FileZilla and had xbox/xbox as my username and password. I am allowed to ftp with my xbox, right? It says I should backup the eeprom to my computer hard drive, so I'd like to do that.
krayzie
search for some ftp tutorials. there are plenty

Has anybody used the rescue disc feature? I just tried it (copied files from modded state... entered the savegame feature first to properly access the shadow img [I made the mistake of not doing that before smile.gif ]), and when I did a "restore system," it successfully copied all of the files and rebooted fine, but it went straight to an xbox live menu. I couldn't get out of it. No big deal (just remod to get back), just wondering if this has been encountered before. I thought this would be nice for somebody I softmodded for.
A Murder of Crows
I've used the rescue disc before, but i use it more "genericly"

i take the basic (unmodded) C drive files, the dashboard, and the save games and put those on the disc. This way, should anyone need/want to, they can unmod their system, say if the mod goes haywire.

i COULD make the rescue disc remod the system, but i felt that wouldn't be too smart since each person has a different eeprom. i'd have to make a different disc for each mod, where as this way i can just make a single disc for everyone and remod with the same game.

On a side note:

Krayzie: any word about the missing Live features yet? i'm very curious as to how we can get those back, such as voice chat, etc.

Also, with the Extras disc, there isn't a need for NDTS anymore, right?

thanx

I have searched and tried a few ways, but none have worked. I even recently tried flashxp, but it did not help any.

I tried:

I was stuck on the :

1) Open NETWORK CONNECTIONS in the Control Panel - Bring up the properties of your Local Area Connection (If you do not have this icon then set up a LAN using the wizard)

2) Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties

3) Select "Use following IP address" and enter:
IP: 192.168.1.4
SUB: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.0.1

I followed those steps. but lost my connection to the internet until i changed them back to default.

I then searched on google and found a few other ways to connect, but none seemed to work.

Do you have a router?
Is DHCP enabled on your Xbox's settings?
if you are using UnleashX and the basic skin, you should be able to see the IP address of the xbox on your screen. It will say IP: 192.168.-.--- or something similar.

using flashfxp on your windows pc, type that address into the "Quick Connect" area for Address. user and pass is "xbox" without the quotes. Sometimes it helps to use Passive mode.

chowyo123
ok, i've got it. I set flashxp to passive, reset my router, and open a port and it seemed to work. Thanks.
Flagmax
Ok I am not an expert here but here is what I know.

First, you must have the "right" hardware connection. If you are directly connecting your XBOX to you Computer, then you Must use a "crossover" network cable. They look like other cables but they have few wires twisted at one ends. The regular cable you use to connect Computer to modem/router/hub will not work. Once you do the connection directly with the crossover cable, your Computer will say "Local Area Connection" as status connected. Watch the right buttom of the screen where the clock for a popup when you plug the cable in. You can also go in Network Connection in Control panel. Verify that its connected before doing anything else.

If you are using a router then you use the regular cables.

Now its time to setup the software correctly. First things to remember, you must use the "Same" Subnet mask and Gateway IP on your Computer and XBOX. And the Computer IP and XBOX IP must have the first three number the same.

Example:
<Computer>
IP: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 - Same as on XBOX
Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1 - Same as XBOX

<XBOX>
IP: 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 - Same as Computer
Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1 - Same as Computer

So you see the IPs are different only in the last number. So in the XBOX select "STATIC" ip and then input the three things. Save and Reboot. On the Computer, go to Control panel and Network Connections. The right click on Local Area Connection then select Properties. Scroll down in the box that says "This connection uses the following items" to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Double click on it and switch the radio button to "Use the following IP" and type in the three things in my example. Then press OKs twice. At this point you should restart the Computer but might work without. Finally open up some ftp client and type in the XBOX ip, port 21 and xbox for user and password. You should see C,D,E..... folders which are your XBOX drives.

Few notes about connecting with the router. The Gateway ip and subnet mask you use must match with the routers gateway ip and subnet mask. Usually it either Gateway IP: 192.168.1.1 or Gateway IP: 192.168.0.1 and Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, based on few routers I've used.

Well good luck, hope this helps.

Yeah I got it to work from an unmodded state as well. I just figured they could use "restore from hard drive" to accomplish that as well. Thanks for the reply. We'll see if anybody has successfully used a rescue disc for a modded state. My guess is nobody has/will reply.

Again I have no live (at least not on my xbox1) so it's very hard for me to guess how such things work and test such features features.
If I'll have some spare time i'll fix up some switch on/off script so people can load live in completely unmodded state.
and what is a NDTS?

Well, looking at things, it seems that maybe some of the offcial MS/LiveDash is either disabled or missing, causing the issue....i can't think of a logical reason for it to not work the way things are done.

NDTS was NDure Tool Set, which was how i got that new eeprom flashed to my system. it bypassed the ShadowC.img file, and i believe with the Extras disc it isn't nessescery anymore, but i want confirmation before i start removing it from my install package.

thanx!

In extras there is a proffesional mode bypassing virtual C and eeprom so no I don't see a need for a ndure toolset.

if someone can explain clearly what is not working and if it's loaded by xboxdash or xonlinedash and if it worked on dual retail of the 1.0 than maybe I can look at it.

Cool, i can lose that program.

here is a post done earlier in the thread:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=3225365

He explains how he gets there, but that clicking on anything crashes it. it requires AutoLogin to be Enabled, and can be booted into via Dual Retail Dash mode. Clicking on anything appears to crash it.

Guess I need some help here.

I just picked up Splinter Cell, Platinum hits which as far as i have seen is supposed to work for softmodding. I copied the ndure 1.1 savegames to my madcatz card with my modded xbox. I currently have a 200GB seagate created with XboxHDM which works fine, accept the G:\ was never partitioned during setup and only <137GB can be used. I've tried to use Evox to format G:\ and allow G:\ yes in settings, but I still can't FTP to it... Even though the Kernel 4981 supposedly supports LBA48.? LSS... I was hoping to uninstall ldots linux UDE1 v1.7.5 autoinstaller w/ Xcecutor2 4981 and PBLmetoo. Go back to original backup of C:\ and dash (K:5101 + D:5693) and start over again with Krayzie Ndure 1.1, because of the 137+GB support, and all the new updates, but I don't wish to connect to live to update the dash to 5960. I know nobody hosts M$ dashes of course, but I would rather not hit live. Any ideas? I know the basic install allows any dash, but don't I need the Extra's to work with G:\ formatting options?...
PS: You FOKKERS rock mang. I have learned more than I ever thought I would need to about my X, and now I'm hooked like crack and can't stop hittin' up the SCENE...!!!!
krayzie
the minimum install doesnt require the 5960 dash and the extras work fine with it. the only thing that doesnt work are the multi retail boots and even they can be fixed later on. and a 5960 dash could also be found on slayers 2.6
