Make sure you have Windows ICS (internet connection sharing) enabled for the 2 nics beerchug.gif , go to www.xbchelp.com for more information , that should solve the prob

dont use a crossover. i used a cat5e and worked wonders.

edit:

one more thing. make sure your DNS match too.

cat5e is the type of cable, category 5 enhanced, that just says that it's meant for ethernet and is of a certain quality, there's also cat5 and cat6, 6 being the best on the market, if he is using a nic card in his computer then a crossover is the correct way to go, crossover is simply the pattern of the wiring inside each end, it is meant for like devices like 2 pc's or 2 xboxs or xbox and a pc, Patch/Straight-through which you are referring to is basically for everything else, mainly using a hub, switch, or router for the connections adn then the patch cables to everything - hope that was informative enough beerchug.gif

By the IP Numbers you have written in your question, your default gateway is on a different subnet.

Your PC is 192.168.1.4
XBOX 192.168.1.5

Your gateway should be 192.168.1.1 not 192.168.0.1

Try changing the address on your gateway and see if that works.
