According to a report on C&VG's website Final Fantasy XI is going to require the xbox 360 hard drive to run. This could definitely be a blow to MS as they have recently stated that xbox 360 core owners will not be missing out on any games due to the lack of a hard drive.

False alarm, its just a rumor. Although it wouldnt be surprising to me if it was true, the hard drive is very important to ffxi.

i thought it was confirmed already that it is required to have a HD. i thought it was needed to have the HD for any MMO. just like deftech said, 85% of the 360s being made are the premium package and the other 15% are the core package so i dont think its going to be an issue.

IF the fuggin game required it for the ps2, square isnt going to remake it so it doesnt need it for the 360.

If you can afford broadband, 50 bucks a year for live, and 15 bucks a month for FFXI, you can afford a hard drive.

ok first of all the game is only 2 years old and we waited like 3 years for grand theft auto to come to xbox didnt we and we still play that right? thats what the hell I thought.

second of all you never know maybe they will release ffxi for xbox 360 with chains of promethia included and possibly the new expansion or perhaps you could download the expansions via xbox live. so you would be all caught up with the pc version.

as for the core bundle its pretty decent for people who wont play very often lots of parents will choose that over the 400 dollar version you better believe that. especially with these huge online possibly in store bundles that only save u 20 dollars coming out left and right.A lot of people would probably choose the core system and upgrade to a hdd and wireless controller later on. Especially since the first shipment of 360s could have problems. the fact that the dvd drives or water cooling might have problems will have me getting the 1 year protection plan.

I think this is awsome. I was worried about games getting crappy from not using the HD. Even though this is a rumor, I fully support it. If cheap bastards don't want to pay for a HD then fuck 'em. Make games for people that care.

Via Kage360 and his reading of an interview...all the expansion packs have been confirmed to be included with the 360 version.
