im using the lastest version 0.4 of dsl

i extracted the iso and ftped to e:\ liek the readme file and the website tells me to.

it gets to the black screen after checking the usb devices i get this error " cant find knoppix filesystem" and it puts me in the shell?

can anyone plz help me?

i did all this:

If you don't wish burn XDSL onto a cd and have the ability to ftp to you Xbox, it is possible to simply copy across the required files. Extract all the files from the iso and copy them to the following locations:

E:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX
E:\KNOPPIX\linux24
E:\KNOPPIX\minirt24.gz

These are case sensitive. Then create a file E:\linuxboot.cfg with the following content

title XDSL
kernel KNOPPIX/linux24
initrd KNOPPIX/minirt24.gz
append root=/dev/ram0 init=/etc/init rw video=xbox:640x480 frugal quiet kbd-reset

Finally if you are not using the Cromwell BIOS copy default.xbe somewhere where you can run it from your Xbox.
Then run Cromwell/default.xbe to boot XDSL. If you then want to peform a loopback/native install simply select your desired option in the Apps, Tools menu.

Well "cant find knoppix filesystem" usually means exactly that. Are you 100% sure that compressed filesystem is at:

E:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX

?

Please note if the filesystem is at

E:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX
E:\knoppix\knoppix

etc

it will not be found and X-DSL will not boot. Getting the path right is important.

/E/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX/ (dir copy pasted from flashfxp)

I think these is some confusion over directories/filenames

The KNOPPIX file should be in the

E:\KNOPPIX directory

not the

E:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX\

directory

i.e. there should be 3 files in E:\KNOPPIX, one of which is itself called KNOPPIX. The should be no subdirectories.

oke thanx for your help m8 it works now the tutorial is wrong and confusing they showing it like a subdir.
