Hey guys and gals,
I am new here and have a problem and was wondering if anyone had any solutions that would not require me to get a new hard drive or motherboard. I have the 1st version xbox version 1 that i bought the first week the xbox came out, and it has worked no problem until the other day. I start the xbox up and the startup screen comes up and the sound, but then the error message comes up saying that i need to contact xbox customer support (there is no specific error code 1-20 up in the left corner of the screen also) it is just blank with the error message in about 6 languages. The light on the front flashes red green red green non stop. Also, i dont know if this has anything to do with it, but if i slightly move the xbox or shake it lightly, the picture on the tv goes out for a second and i see only a black screen instead of the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and hopefully i didn't post this is the wrong forum section. Thanks much everyone.

It could be, that the IDE cables are messed up. But who knows.

here's your chance to get your hands dirty!
open up the beast and verify everything is plugged in and what not.
there are some good tuts on the main x-s page that can guide you
through checking out everything.
the only way to find out what's going on is to tear it apart.

Once you open xbox remove cover remove HDD tray and DVD ROM tray.
The EIDE cable is the gray ribbon that connects mobo to DVD rom to HDD
Make sure everything is secure.
Also there is a yellow power cable to DVD rom, and power cable to HDD.
The fact that you do not get an error code is not promosing.
