Over a month ago I preorder my x360 and payed the deposit at well know UK game retailer GAME.
They didn't stop taking preorders till last week and now they are telling me that I may not get a 360 on release day even though a preordered last month and payed my deposit.
They weren't as keen to tell me this when I handed over my money.

I'm working for PCWORLD now so as soon as they come in the wearhouse it's mine.

I ordered from Game... but i ordered before the date on the website that says 'all preorders taken before this date will be ok' blah blah
You must have been too late.I hear dixons/Currys/Comet etc etc are only just taking preorders so you should still be able to get one at launch.
Heres the official game statement:

If you ordered before 14:30 on 22nd August 2005 then, essentially, yes. But we can only guarantee this as much as anyone can guarantee anything - it's never going to be cast-iron. So, allowing for acts of God or alien invasion, then yes. We're gamers too, and understand why you want it on day of release (believe us, we do as well) - and we will do everything in our considerable power to get it to you in time. Our track record on preorder delivery, especially when it comes to new hardware launches, is untouchable.

Ouch! Just ask for your deposit back as they can no longer guarantee you a launch day release - how'd you get a job at PC world by the way? Thought you had to be 20 to work there? Play.com have guaranteed me delivery 1 day before launch

Well I'm 18 and I know the manager really well, it's just a saturday job because I'm doing my A-levels at the moment but I still get 10% discount and access to the warehouse, lol.
You could always go down to the store with your reciept and politely ask to speak to the manager about it. I'm sure he/she will be happy to accomodate your needs.

No need to be polite,you were mislead into believing you were pre-ordering an item that would be available at a certain date,as it clearly is not,you are entitled by law for your deposit refunding,dont take any shit either.

Ok, I'll get it at PCworld before release day if GAME says I can't have it.
Working at a £multimillion earning store does have it's perks.

A day? No my friend as soon as the store gets it, about a week before it goes on sale.
Well if you live in lancaster I may be able to get you one early but if not then you will have to find someone local from a big store that can get one for you.

I don't think I'm allowed to sell it to customers till release day, they make a big thing about release days with loads of ads and opening at 00:00, but like I said I'm an employee, well I wil be when the store is open on the 21st of october.
It's only a week mate, you'll survive. If by chance I can get you one before release day I'll PM you and set one aside at the warehouse but don't hold your breath.

I've ordered mine from Play too. Do you mind me asking when you pre-ordered just so I can get an idea of how likely I am to get mine near launch (I ordered on the day the official prices were released 18th August).
That said we should know when Play have them in the warehouse (I assume you know the warehouse check trick?).
I know Play are usually pretty good for pre-order, I was playing UC2 on the Wednesday before it was released on the Friday

But i was assured in Email that I would definately receive on release day. I feel like a noob now, what is the warehouse check trick? Sounds like I want to know - I've also pre-ordered the upcoming PES5 from their, so hopefully that will come early
