There's a new PGR3 video here, and it's a night race for a change.

Before the usual people complain about it not looking that good in-car this version is probably 4 weeks old now (version at X05 was 3-4 weeks old) and it looks like the shaders and stuff have been turned off for the in-car view at least.

The scary bit it the left wing-mirror. At the start of the race it's fine and gives a nice sharp image (but it looks a bit flat, possible because of shaders) but around 55 seconds in he drives into the wall and breaks it. When it switches back into in car view you can see the cracked mirror. Odd thing is it seems to look more realistic when it's broken.

Xboxyde also have a new 3D screen shot showing the fancy paint effects on one of the TVRs.

That has GOT to be a joke. This is PGR3?

Yea I think your right about the shaders being off. The mirror does infact looks a little more real and it's the fact that it isn't perfect. It hink thats one of the main problems with game these days is that all the visuals are so perfect looking that it's easier to tell they are fake. It is getting better by far and it's probably going to be gone with this gen.

the hands look really bad...

I watched this on my 55" HTDV and I wasn't impressed. Far from 'photorealistic'. Hopefully this is a very old build where they hadn't worked on night mode much.

The other vids seem pretty good.

all of you people who arent impressed and are whining obviously dont know the effect that shaders have on the look of a game. ill leave it at that.
wasting
why would you leave it at that, you know atleast 10 more people are gonna come in here and say it doenst look good so explain

think about it, whats makes the water in xbox games look good, what makes fur look good, what makes the grass stand up, or the stubble on the face of a character? shaders. if you want to learn about it then, like some of us, go out and read about the effects they have on a games looks.

wow, thanks for the educated response on what a shade is.

im not a developer with all the technical details, atleast i can see when shaders are being used and have a basic idea how they effect the look of a game. like i said if u want to know that bad (any of you people), do some work on your own and learn about it yourself

im not the one bitching about things i know nothing about
wasting
im not bitching about the shading, obviously its not complete, so what id say i was bitching about would be why do they release a movie/pic of something thats not completely done, it just makes it look bad

i understand that but to the people who do understand what is activated and whats not they put all that into consideration KNOWING that everything will be put into effect in the final product. with unfinished videos i look for things that impress me (like the mirror) and not bad things that i know wont be in the final game.

I know what your saying KAGE and im sure you know your video games but shaders have zilch to do with the hands jerking around like a robot.

No that would be your imagination. The animation on the hands is fluid and it's fine.

BTW, PRG didn't 'release' this video so quit bitching, they released the 3D flash image which looks amazing.

This video is off a CAMCORDER and was recorded at X05 which was an opportunity for journalists to play some EARLY BUILDS

PGR3 is a must get, since it's the best eye candy offered to x360 atm. Too bad it's not the racing game I like the most on current gen, Forza has the most precise physics and Toca offers great variety of really different cars. Both look very good as well.

Now let's see .. other options? Ridge Racer 6 was very smooth in TGS and ran about 160fps, but wasn't really anything new. Test Drive ran about 12fps in the same show, but looked convincing - I'm actually putting my hopes up for it since I like the free driving aspect they've taken there. Hopefully they don't have to cut corners (no pun intended) to get it running 30fps. Need for Speed - not really interested.

Oh, and almost forgot about that Grand Raid Offroad. Cars look a bit odd but scenery is nicely rendered and it looks like a it could be a lot of fun.

Amazing lineup of car games and still I'm not quite sure if I'm going to find a game I'd enjoy as much as Forza or Toca. Call me picky, will you biggrin.gif

(toca is actually set to february launch .. on Xbox rolleyes.gif. here's hoping they have a secret x360 port planned as well)

there is a vid out there, maybe xboxyde?, of test drive and i thought the frame rate was ok. im sure it will get better from the vid but it didnt seem unplayable. i also like the free driving route they took and from what i saw in the vid even though the game wont match PGR3 in near-photo realism, it still looked damn good considering how huge the game really is.

PGR3 is a must buy for me as its one of my fav. racing series and a great game to showcase what the 360 can do standing on its head.

as for forza i think its more then just a safe bet that it will be coming to the 360 and looking amazing.

Forza might be the second most important product for MS right after Halo, they've poured the money into developing the first one and creating the awesome live! system for it. There's really no doubt that Forza will make a huge comeback to x360 in 2006, break a few records and set the new standard for console car games.

No disrespect to PGR, which is a good series, but Forza is really MS' 1:1 answer to Gran Turismo.

The biggest guestion is: will we have those long-craved force feedback wheels by then beerchug.gif

its no disrespect to PGR to what you said. i dont think that PGR was ever meant to compete with GT as one is a sim and the other is more arcadey.

as for your racing wheel, one has been announced though i didnt see a release date. it has force feedback and a back lit screen you can read about it here
