well i saw the video that ghost made
ghostbox tutorial
ghostbox chip install

This was my second attempt to install a pinheader. The other times i used the wire install or the soldering pad. I did exactly what ghost did. I touched one side of the pin w/ my iron and then the solder on the other side. When the solder melted it didn't stick to the motherboard lpc. only stuck to the pin. I made sure that the solder touched the lpc and the pin header.

am i supposed to put flux on the lpc holes?

I ended up pushing the pin down the lpc hole until the pin head was flat w/ the motherboard. the pin header was sticking out slightly. I melted a dab of solder on my iron and then applied the solder to the lpc hole. that was the only way i can get it to make contact w/ the lpc.

thanks.

You need to have the iron touching the pin and the pad on the motherboard, both need to be heated for the solder to make a good connection.

yeah i wouldnt just rely on the zinked wires i would use some solder as wel to make sure the connections are properly jointed... you can also use flux to help the the joinning of the solder with the board....
