I was thinking about getting the DS (mainly for possable Zelda games) and was wondering where I could go to find out what accomplishments have been made in the modding scene with it. Does anyone know of good sites?

Full Version: Nintendo Mod Scene.
I know that with 1 wire and a file you can make the DS play GBA games...
Also with 1 wire you can link the Antenna up to the chassis and increase the wireless range...
The official PC emulator used for developer debugging is floating around...
Also there is something called a Magic Key that can rip the rom files from DS cartrages and write them back to re-writable cartrages....
This is all stuff I've heard in passing so I'm not sure how well any of it works...

the last site's home page on the right side has a healthy list of DS related sites. I hope this puts u on the path u want to be on. I , too, am trying to get into the ds scene's info bits.

I remember catching a news post (maybe on slash dot?) months and months ago. About how someone had leaked a pefect DS emulator (I remember seeing a few picutres of it running too).. Sorry I can't be of more help then that.

The DS scene is a bit behind the PSP scene. But things are beginning to look a lot better. A homebrewn TCPIP stack is almost done for homebrew dev. A partial SDL port has also just been completed. Super Mario War was even ported with it. There are also a few emulators out, the best IMO beign ScummVM, with the touchscreen!
All homebrew is run through a good ol GBA flashcart and a device dubbed "PassMe" wich redirects the DS game slot to the GBA slot tricking the device that it is playing an actual DS game. As for backups, some work, some don't. It's pretty much hit or miss from patching.
