when i play music on my computer its really choppy, it like freezes for a split second and repeats what its saying, almost like its skipping

anyone know what causes this?

ive run spybot, and antivirus software, they turn up nothing that helps the problem

and when it happens, in the task manager my cpu usage goes up to like 98%

Try a different media player. Mine plays choppy when I have a lot running, but it could just be your player.

Could be one of many things.
You see it a lot when the media is in use by another application and the program has to wait.
On rare occasions an antivirus can cause this behavure in some media players.
Other times from running multible applications(including backround start up items).
There used to be issues with some media players that would not share the audio card correctly and cause a conflict when another application attempted to use it. (like a IM event sound)
Sometimes a heavy media player like ITunes for windows may be too much for you PC, you may need more ram or a better processer.
If your maxing out your ram useage then then the virtual memory could be sucking away your pc power.

There are other posibilties as well.

mine does that too, mostly from limewire.
