okay, so i'm putting a box in my new(ly aquired) jeep wrangler. now this thing rides like a kangaroo, has anyone had shock problems with their hard drive? any suggestions? should i mount the hdd vertically or anything? okay, second and partially unrelated question: i'm using rca ins for sound through my car's stereo, i'd also like to put a couple 1/4" jacks in the back so i could plug a couple guitars into the stereo system, what are the line levels on an instrument with a 1/4" jack as compared to a normal rca? is there any way to boost or cut the signal to make it work? thanks very much! -parker

Well, I'm not sure about all the audio stuff, but I don't believe it will be a simple plug and play. But on the harddrive, mount it vertically like you said. I've also seen people suspend harddrives. I know they sell kits that let you do that so it absorbs more shock.

for the best in hard drive protection use a 2.5" notebook HDD, suspended or covered in foam, you just need a 44 pin to 40 pin adapter and to set up the drive for the xbox.

I've had my 250GB hard drive in my car's Xbox for about 6 months now...daily usage and its had its fair share of bumps...and I'm running on a sport coilover suspension and 19" wheels with low profile tires...in fact, I just ran over a huge pothole and bent two wheels going around 70mph on the highway...and the Xbox was on, playing MP3's...didn't even hiccup...I'm actually more worried about heat than vibration.
