Hi

Just wondering if someone could tell me how to change the boot sequence of my xbox. I basically want to change from evox to xbmc but I am unsure how to tell my xbox to boot the xbmc default.xbe

I have read a post on how to change dashes but it doesnt explain this step - i think

thanks,

nlh

for a future reference this is actually called changing your default dash.

are you running a hard or softmod?

im not positive on this but i think you can just name it evox.xbe the xbmc to load...i havent messed with that in a while just search it the bios loads the dashes in a certain order and i know evox.xbe is the first ( correct me if im wrong ) but i use x select its a program the is in the usual place its nice cause it allows you to change the boot sequence easy and press different buttons on start up for different dashboards and its simple as hell and a tiny file its sweet up to like 8 dashes well gl

I'm in the same boat.

i want to change dashes to xbmc but dont know the boot sequence of my bios

I've discovered that I need to know what BIOS I am running so that I can change the boot sequence (and as a result change my dash)

I'm currently running Ex2 4976 (i think) on an ALX2+ chip and I need to know the boot sequence so I can rename the xbmc xbe file to whatever boots first (i heard that was the way to do it)

Any idea where i can find the boot sequence for 4976 bios? I found the sequences for a lot of other bioses here but cant seem to find the dodgy old 4976.

i'd flash my bios with an update but im not sure what is compatible with my crazy ass chip

does this make any sense??

If the box already boots evoxdash then you know it boots evoxdash.xbe so just ftp on the new dash and corresponding files.
Re-name the evoxdash.xbe to enidxdosh.xbe.
Change the name of your new dash to evoxdash.xbe.
The other way is to edit the bios to boot the xbe you want first but thats another story.

Links in my sig for the most popular dashes.

duuuuuude. just got a fatal error........ but then i fixed it and all is well!

it came up with error in home address or no skins or keymap.xml present or some shit. after a bit of fiddling i realised that i had written the home address wrong xboxmediacentre.xml

i had written it as e:/apps/xmbc

when it should have been e:\apps\xbmc (backslashes instead of forward slashes)

why do they put them the other way????

anyway its all working now and i am fantastically happy!!!

thanks for all your help!
