Just wondering if with the BC for xbox games will AA be used for 480i as well for the people without HDTVs?

GTA: SA was very bad for jaggies, will this BC solve that do you know?

If you've read the 480i/480p conversations here in XBS, enabling progressive output can be easily done for many titles by just altering a few hex codes in executables. All the games are initially rendered in 640x480 resolution anyway, so not having 480p supported is just plain lazyness and negligence from certain developers.

GTA: SA in x360 will look much like its PC counterpart, since Xbox and PC versions go pretty much hand-in-hand technically. Textures will still suck big time, but they weren't that hot in PC version either.

Either way, it's something to show your Playstation buddies anyway wink.gif

So is that a yes? Games on a none HDTV will have AA?

Games on non hdtvs will get AA.

on that, i have a question that i haven't heard anwered. when emulating will it put a higher antialising on a 480 as oposed to a 720 so like 8x for 480 and like 4x for 720 or because of the scaling chip will it not mater and all be the same.

There won't be any extra AA for any of the resolutions, but you will get what we call 'free' AA. Since each game will be done in 720p, when you play a game in 480p, you will still be viewing the same 720p image scaled down to 480p. Essentially, a group of pixels in 720p would equal 1 pixel in 480p. This blurring of pixels together further helps to anti-alias the whole image.
The Xbox 360 won't bring EXTRA AA in a lower res because it isn't RUNNING THE GAME at a lower res. When you play in 480p, you are still getting all the pixel data from 720p. If you were playing the game in 720p, you will be getting the same amount of pixel data as if you were in 480p, etc. All the 'scaler' does is essentially 'zoom in' and 'zoom out' the image. I guess that's the simplest way to describe it if you still don't understand.

How about free, frame rate improvements. I know it hasn't been mentioned, but whenever you upgrade your pc cpu and graphics card, you old games automatically run better with a higher fps. Think this could/will happen with the 360 bc?

Ok, I'm guessing that we can get better framerates, and possibly less texture popping (Halo 2), but it would have nothing to do with resolution. If I play a game in 480i rather than 720p on Xbox 360, it will play the same.
We don't know about framerates and game performance.

Your sig carlo, I'm sure that was true at one point, or nearly true anyway.
