OK I'm trying here to make a 1080i hidef skin version of this skin

But no matter how I try, making all images bigger like Width="1920" Height="1080" for the background and such plus adding this tag to the skin.xml
<ScreenSize Width="1920" Height="1080"/>
The skin will always act like its in 640x480 mode and then streach the skin items such as the menu and images out and if I try to put the menu at something like Top="600" Left="700" Unleash will just display them off the screen even though I am running in a screen rez of Width="1920" Height="1080" so it should display it in the middle somewhere.
I can confirm that I am running in that rez by looking at the system info when I press the Y button and also my TV tells me so

So I ask
Is it even possible to make a native Hidef skin ???
has anyone ever made one that works properly ???

If the answer is yes can someone give me a link to it so I can see how it works for myself

hmm do you have the cables to output to 1080i? And that turned on in the xbox? I know its a dumb question but ya never know.

I've been doing a couple of 720p skins in UXArchietect, it has a video mode selection tool. Unfortunatley, I haven't been able to test it, as I still need to get my Hi-Def cables.

Looks like I'm going to have to reinstall UXArchietect and see if it does it right at the moment I do it all with a text editor

Nope looks like UXArchietect can't make a proper 1080i skin either

I finally got my cables (bought them from Sticky_Bud) and tested my skins out. The menu filled just about the whole screen! I enlarged it to fit nicely inside UXA, but it's gotten kinda fucked. I guess it's trial and error getting it working.

So I got a little confused there does that mean you can't get it to work too ?

Yeah. I puts my backgrounds and everything in, but acts as if the things like DVD title, etc are in standard NTSC!

I put the DVDtitle in the upper left hand corner, and it ended up in the middle of the screen. Guess I need to learn to do it manually.

Except the menu should self stretch and the preview videos should too.

Ok it looks like the same thing that happens to me. Basically unleashx is scalling down your background to 640x480 and then expanding it out again and its also scalling up all the other stuff as well like your menu which looks like its about 500 wide is getting expanded out to about 1000 and all the other things like date time and sound stuff are just getting drawn off the screen because unleashX is only taking the first 640x480 grid of the skin and scaling it up to fit the screen rez.
If you wanna test my theory then move /resize everything in the skin into the first 640x480 of the image and they will all display fine

That sounds about right. It is 500 wide, I believe. Unfortunatley, photobucket doesn't give me thumbnails

I feel sorry for anyone running any resolution lower than 1280x1024. Those screens are gunna kil.

Any ideas as to how to fix this problem? I'm sure I saw a 720p skin out there before. I'll grab it, see if it works, and if it does, I'll dissect it.

Hey Jezz X, I just downloaded a skin called "Jin Ro WIDESCREEN" and I only get it fo fit right on my TV if I set my MS$ to 1080i supported. I first tried out the skin on 720p and the skin did not fix, BUT when I went 1080i it fit fine. check it out bro.

Oh yah I think both allxboxskins and xbox-skins have it on there sites.

Its Fake the skinner has realized what I was talking about and fudged it look at this image then the info I Paste below from the skin.xml from the skin



From the skin .xml compare to the actual image above (Allow some pixels for me inaccurate measures)

Main Menu is like 45 pixels wider than set in the skin


Game Icon and this is the big one we can all see whats going on in is like 50 pixels more to the right than the xml says and 20+ pixels wider


Oh and just to set some things straight with the post above
the skin is made for 480p mode and has a rez of 720x480 UnleashX usually displays in 640x480 thus the widescreen tag on the skin

Overlay Images are not a problem they will always display in the right size if you put width / height tags in them but like this skin will be drawn off the screen in 640x480 mode

Things that always get treated like 640x480 are

• background image/video
• preview videos
• game icons
• main menu
• Anything past the 640x480 in xpos and ypos will be drawn off the screen

Guess thats why it was a bit fuzzy at 1080i, maybe in the next Version of Unleash X we will see a True HD Skin.
