Being its a RARE Inc. product it will feel like Goldeneye as in the N64, where perfect dark originated from. It is a great game and to compare Halo 2 to it shouldnt even be done. If you know anything about textures you can clearly see the differance. It is a great game, the story isnt very compelling but I still like it.
If you were to compare multiplater vs Halo then I would probably shy to say it is funner online for deathmatch. But this is the first game that I know of that is Live Co-Op supported which is freakin sick, you can walk someone through a mission so on and so forth.
The problem is, your probably acustom to halo running around shooting people with SMGs and having your life refill every 10 seconds. Sorry but thats not how this game is meant to be played. Its nowhere stealth like as say Splinter Cell but this game is definatly worth it and worthy of a reason that M$ purchased Rare.

Doom 3 has live co-op.
I too am a tad disappointed in PDZ. The campaign seems solid enough but I found deathmatch to be a let-down. It reminds me of Soldier of Fortune II...the way you run around the maps.
Running up to someone just doesn't seem realistic and early Xbox gen.
I'm not totally dismissing this game yet though. I'm gonna give it a fair shot and put in a heafty bit of online play. Hopefully it will grow on me.

anyway, if your not happy with it, PM me and I'll buy it off you

I've been playing this game all day... the graphics are incredable...
maybe you need a new TV
or maybe you need to understand the difference between good graphics and art direction.

The gameplay seems lackluster, though. Kinda reminds me of TimeSplitters (essentially Goldeneye's gameplay). It just seems linear and repetitive in a sense. It also feels slow paced, being a run and gun/cover game (good mix?). Also, it doesn't seem as if there is much need to really move your crosshair around the screen or do anything twitch-related - just seems like a really monotoneous gameplay experience. TimeSplitters: FP was great for the first week, but it got old fast, and PD0 might be the same for me, which is why I'm skeptical of it.
Graphics are obvously top-notch, though.

the graphics are fine I suppose... but the game play is lacking. I hate when I do what I know I shouldn't.
this game does highly dissapoint... I let all the hype get to me when I knew I should have purchased COD2... see I don't intend to buy 2 games at this time...

how do you get a store to take back open games? Please inform.

No, just going by what I've seen. I'm not at all judging M EXPERIENCE with the game, just how the gameplay is. Why? Was it accurate or not.
And to those who keep bashing the fact that I compare Timesplitters to PD0 need to understand that the designers who made goldeneye and PD made Timesplitters. Timesplitters is Goldeneye and PD gameplay, and so is PD0. From what I've seen, I haven't been proven wrong yet. timesplitters was an awesome game, but the gameplay mechanics and design gets old fast, which is how PD0 feels to me. There's not much action invlolved with how you move around and shoot the waves of enemies, so it seems.

Oh well, different strokes for different folks and all that. Personally, I know what you mean by the somewhat slow feeling gameplay however I loved Goldeneye and Perfect Dark so I feel fine with that gameplay style. Those looking for a halo-like experience will indeed be dissapointed (though I've only played solo and coop so deathmatch may be different). I definitely can't say anything bad about the graphics though. The game runs very smooth even with explosions going on and has high-detail textures in most places though a few still seem a bit bland.

The graphics are good, but aren't great. The Single player is pretty good, but the multipler was a let down for the most part. However I gotta give them props for co-op mode over live. I wish more games had co-op modes.

i have both COD2 and PD0 and i think COD2 is amazing.. the singleplayer was/is awesome..(i chated with my friend using private chat as we both went through the campaign) i tried some PD0 but it was too slow and boring for my liking. Although PD0 is probably the prettiest game ive ever since... i was unable to really try the online becuase COD2 was sooo laggy and i couldnt find a single game for PD0?!?.. overall i recommend COd2.

Does co-op mode mean that you can have 2 people playing off the same tv set split screen over xbox live? You can do this with PD0 and I have found that this is not possible in COD2. I need more games where I can play live split screen with one of my pals.
Thanks

I must say, I'm loving the PD0. Maybe I'm not as picky as others whatever, but I just take each game as it's own entity and try to experience it as it's own thing. Anyone who has played the game must agree that the graphics are top notch. The level of detail that has gone into the game is very nice, menu's are subpar, but who gives a rip. My buddy was bashing it because it didn't look as "real" as CoD2, but they are 2 totally different games. PD0 is a sci-fi adventure FPS, CoD2 is a realistic war shooter. 2 diff. games.
Some things that I like about PD0 is the weapon system. Having to choose what weapons will fill my slots does give me headaches at certain times, but those are good headaches to have. The weapon switching is poor. I have had instances were I have tried to drop 2 pistols for a shotgun, etc, and drop my other weapon instead.
I like that you can drop your weapons for a speed boost. It has already saved my ass in some deathmatch games. The speed of running with full guns can be a problem though. I definitely do not want to be caught out in the open, which makes you play with a bit more stealth than you would in otehr types of games.
The lack of a radar in the mission is very hard to adjust too. Couple that with those flashing arrows for waypoints, and I have gotten lost a couple of times, which is annoying.
For a launch game, I say it gets great marks. I wish that the running speed was a bit faster, and that switching weapons was easier.
I love the art direction and the way they styled the game. It looks pretty amazing and is getting me pumped up for Gears of War.

^^im with that guy^^
Another thing, i dont understand why ppl are comparing it to timesplitter and rogue agent. The difference between it and those games (and even halo) is that it seems to have more depth IMO. Timesplitters got boring quick becaquse it didnt have the depth that we expect from fps'. I know ill be playing it for a longtime, and my friends seem to feel the same way since we play multiplayer everyday now. The weapons are wonderful by the way!

I completely agree with what Rubix42 said.
As for PD0 being like Goldeneye... well it is, not entirely though.
There's not much to compare the gameplay to because it's very different from any other FPS I've played. having only had the game a day I can't comment on whether it's style will age like vinegar or wine but it feels like the bastard love child of Goldeneye, and Halo 1, with little bits of Splintercell sprinkled here and there. It's also got a lot of "wow that's really cool, why haven't they been doing that in FPSs for years?"
It's not a typical shooter, and if you're expecting the ultra refined hardcore FPS fan shooter, this isn't it and you should try your luck with COD2 or Quake 4. I'm sure both of those games would more than please you if that's what you're looking for.
Remember the "Gamers Manifesto"? That came to mind frequently when playing PD0 as MANY MANY of the things asked for in that article are answered. Because of that it's NOT your typical FPS, and not being your typical FPS hardcore fans of the genre will probably be disappointed when the Game Zigs instead of the Zag they're used to.
As for me I'm not a fan of FPS games in general, I purchased PD0 because I was a Goldeneye fan in the N64 days, and I know it's a title that all my friends will want to play when they come over for game night

Well ive only played PDZ for just a little under an hour now and I really have to say I love it. The graphics in HD are incredible, the sound is awesome and very realistic, I havent gone very deep into the gameplay but I do like how it plays so far... I guess if this aint your type of game go with COD2 but for me and my likes PDZ is awesome bcuz i dislike WW2 type games.

Not necssarily...
A tv's resolution doesn't justify the set's quality nor ability to produce 480i well.

I agree with twisted in that I think PDZ is a great game, although people that were expecting a halo clone might be dissapointed. Since about noon me and 7 other guys have been doing nothing but playing PDZ and COD2. I have to say i love COD2, but i dont know how anyone can rip on PDZ. The co-op is a blast to play through, even though the storyline well... sucks(at least compared to the original). And dont insult the graphics until you have played it on a high-def tv. For those of you have 360's but dont have this game yet, you should definatly go out and get this game. - Nate

Personally I love it, the graphics, weapons, game modes, single player; I'm very pleased with it all. I was a big fan of goldeneye 007 on the 64 and my friends and I spent so many summer hours on that game its not even funny.
Perfect Dark Zero brings me back to those Goldeneye days with tons of welcomed additions, PDZ+Live=no sleep for me

edit: If I remember right Perfect Dark 64 had a few multiplayer levels from Goldeneye didnt it?
Man what I would give to play a 4 player deathmatch in either the stack or facility on PDZ.
