ok, heres the deal

I have a box v1.6a, I got a spider gx, got it installed with little problems, got the right bios flashed with little problems (X2 5035 512k) AND got the slayers auto installer to install slayers with no problems with my new 80gb Seagate hard drive in.

BUT NOW no apps run on slayers. I have tried everything involving putting more pressure on my chip in different places to make it work, and re-installing slayers and even my bios. I am stuck right now and have no idea what to do. HACk DA BOX HELP!!!!

This seems to be a common problem ... Have you trired flashing the Evox M8 Plus V1.6 Bios to bank 1 ?

Hello everyone ,

Can everyone that has the " No apps will load " problem please report here with the xbox model and which bios you are using !

For example:

V1.6b
X2 5035 ( bank 3 )

If you are using the X2 5035 bios on ( Bank 3 ) please try flashing the Evox M8 Plus V1.6 bios to ( Bank 1 ) and see if that helps you at all ...

Flashing the Evox M8 Plus V1.6 bios !

Skip down to the Flashing part ( near the bottom of the link )

Version = 1.6

Bios = X2 5035 Apps will not load but backups work fine. XBMC works fine if you use it to boot to.

Tried flashing M8 Plus v16 countless times to Bank1 and Bank2 and it has never worked.

SPIDERGX SUXS!!!!!!! DO NOT BY THIS CHIP!!!!!!!
gxnoob
yes the m8+16 didnt work the only thing that worked was x2 5035, i got that one to load and everyting, but after i put slayers on, it shows the dashboard and looks like its all good but it just wont load anything, its really wierd. my freinds that also have modded xboxs says they have never seen it before..

The people that had the same problem i guess had a problem with thier chip sitting right on the board, but that is not a problem with mine.

If the bios loads on the M$ startup screen does that mean that the bios will work with slayers and everything?

thanks HACK DA BOX!

HAS ANYONE GOTTEN A V1.6 XBOX TO COMPLETELY WORK WITH THE SPIDER GX? SLAYERS AND ALL..?/??
crypysmoker
heres what I did because the chip is picky.

I had a 1.6b for my friend.... the bios/webos thing that is on the chip is just crap. there is barley anythign that works right now till they update.....

BUt I took a new harddrive and put it in my xenium chipped xbox, reverted the 120 gig HDD to stock (yes you can do it and it does not screw anythign up unless its over 137 gigs) also DO NOT LOCK THE HDD TO THE SECOND XBOX.
then I put it in the 1.6 b xbox and locked it through the chip, then I just went and put the splinter cell exploit files on through the memory card and soft modded my 100 gig HDD like it was a stock.

no problems since. I know it seems like a lot, but this is the only thing I came up with. I was on the first list of when the spidergx came out, I got mine 2 days after it was released so mune may be different, but it works and this is what I did after almost 2 months of trying it with just the spidergx chip.

hope it helped a little sad.gif

Sorry, I should have noted (though I've already posted on this subject) that with either M8+, I can run applications if I use the EvoX dash, and reboot from the EvoX dash menu before trying to launch the application. However, stuff doesn't always work right (for example, XBMC launched from the EvoX dash after rebooting won't play most videos, but it will work if I use the X2 BIOS and run XBMC as dash).

Can anyone else with a 1.6 Xbox and these application problems try to replicate this?

Install the EvoX M8+ BIOS to bank 1
Install the EvoX dashboard (by CD if necessary)
Boot to the EvoX dash
Choose reboot from the menu
Try and run your application (not a game!) from the dash menu
If it works, see if it behaves as you'd expect, or if it freezes up at some point

OK ive had my spider for around a month on my 1.6 im on house arrest so i have a whole lotta time on my hands when im not working...ive tried just about everything ,every bios and dashes mentiond anywhere in any of the spidergx forums with this chip, with the exception of the method above that cryptsmoker used. This chip has the one major problem that there seems to be NO TOTAL FIX 4!! i got lucky and i sent my chip back and got my refund this is the best thing that could happen to you if you have one as well! With out this site where would we all be...lost in the dark. THANK YOU XSCENE!! read up on this site...then buy yourself a chip!!!

I did this exactly as you said and it is still freezing on the "Loading...Please Wait" screen
HackDaBox

Just to clear up a couiple of things !

If it freezes on the X2 5025 bios loading screen then you need to install a dashboard. Try booting Slayer's Auto Installer or Auto Installer Deluxe and installing a dashboard !

But if you can boot your dashboard but you can't launch any other apps then i want you to post here !

Also V1.6 is not enought info as there are 2 versions ... could you please let me know if you have a V1.6a or V1.6b

Xbox V1.6a has samsung ram chips on the motherboard

Xbox V1.6b has hynix ram chips on the motherboard

Ps hopefully all these issues will be fixed soon ... I have a few guys trying various things right now to sort out these issues !

Thanks for trying, gxnoob! However I'm a little puzzled by the screen you're getting stuck on - are you getting into the dashboard at all? The latest EvoX dash I could find (3935 I think) has an application loading screen which is just a big green EvolutionX logo, there aren't any other words. Could you please clarify?

HackDaBox, my box is a 1.6a.
HackDaBox

It depends on the SKIN you have choosen in Evox , alot of SKINS do have " Loading Please Wait "

HackDaBox !

gxnoob
I have a 1.6a as well.

Im getting the slayers dashboard to load, its just when I try to run XBMP or any of the apps it goes to the loading screen(varys depending on the skin that you have) and freezes. At this point I have treid about everything. The only bios that works with 1.6a is x2 5035 that i have found, and the chip sitting on the board is not a problem.

I think 2 things might be the problem:
1: On the spidergx OS it says "Xbox Version : 1.0-1.5" (ours bieng 1.6a)
2: When I boot the Xbox with the chip in the "off" position my box gives me the 05 error.

Those are my only ideas so far, but the wierd thing is that even though the xbox gives me the 05 error eith the chip off, it will still load games and with the chip on it works. Wierd?

Thanks alot guys!
HackDaBox

Xbox Error codes !

Error 05 means the hard drive is unlocked and the MS bios will only boot with a locked hard drive so this is not a Spider GX problem oddly enough !

Yeah the Spiders OS ( operating System ) is not smart enough to know you have a V1.6 but this makes no difference !

choklit does your evox m8 plus 16 on bank 1 actually boot ? you see there are 2 problems everyone is having ...

Evox M8 Plus 16 boots and plays games but wont launch apps ( possibly the pogo pin is not making a good contact with pin 1 on the lpc )

Evox M8 Plus 16 boots to a black screen and won't start the dashboard at all ( possibly the Spider GX has bad cpld code and needs an update )

I have both had it load and not load. Can't remember what set up I had when i got the m8 to load. When it actually did load, the apps remained red and unhighlightable.

I'll test and see what set up I had to get it to load.
HackDaBox

This is a different problem and not Spider GX related !

If a item is RED and you can't select it that means it is not installed on your xbox or the path is incorrect ! this is not a Spider GX problem !

Please use a Auto Installer like Slayer's Auto Installer V2.6 and re-test !

same problem here xbmc started up, i could start everything except apps and games. this morning i found out that the bios uses x2config.ini thats located on F drive, i opened it and changed all the 1's to 0's. now everything works like a charm.

Have you guys tried changing the x2config.ini file ?

else maby you should..

Two bits that might be useful:

1. If using the EvoX M8+ BIOS, I can only boot the EvoX dashboard more than once. If I try to use any other dashboard (UnleashX, Avalaunch etc.) it works the first time, and then locks up on a reboot or any subsequent boot. It will still boot to a CD with a dash on that, so maybe that's worth a try - boot to CD, replace dash with EvoX via FTP, remove CD and reboot. It works for me!

2. I have found today that it's not all apps that refuse to play! Using X2.5035, I can boot any dash. XBMC will not run as application, neither will 2 demos I downloaded (Irrlicht Q3demo and a fractal generator). I know XBMC and the Q3demo are not bad files, because I can boot them using Evox/EvoX and the reboot method. But today I downloaded some emulators, and I have yet to find one (I have tried 6 or 7) that will not run as application when using XBMC as dash. So if you can run your dashboard OK, but not applications, maybe try some emulators? Something like neogenesis, xboyadvance or xsnes9x.

Maybe someone can make sense of all this?

With slayer used (forgot to do it after I was trying to get the x2 bios to work), app's will work the first time after installation, but then after that the box needs rebooted from the slayer menu or the slayer disc is in when the evox dash starts up.

*edit*

Even when doing this, games cannot be played from the HD, they lock up immediately. They ripped fine, but will start and freeze.

This is some great news ... Thanks Janne !

OK everyone the X2 5035 bios looks for a file called x2config.ini which holds settings for the bios. You can just cut and paste this default untouched x2config.ini into notepad and save it as x2config.ini

CODE

Now ftp the file to your F:/ drive is you have a large hard drive or E:/ if you are using the stock hard drive. If you can't ftp then just burn the file to a cdrw and then copy it onto your xbox using UnleashX / Avalaunch / XBMC File Manager or BoXplorer !

thanks for the .ini file. When i changed all the 1's to 0's like Janne stated, it worked.

Just loaded a game off the hd, and went through quite a few of the apps.

noResetOnEject = 1

; patch away xbox live connectivity code

These three codes above are the ones i think may need to be changed ... anyone wanna try changing just one and testing , then revert it back and try another untill you find the one code that needs changing to 0 ?

HackDaBox !
janne
No problem.. smile.gif

HackDaBox: I'm pretty sure it's "igr (in game reset)" thats not working correctly. It was the first thing i changed when i got it to work. The thing is that all was working great and i was playing a game, then i used the igr and when it started up again it was all screwed up.

Someone should try to just change the igr setting so it's off (0)

1 means ON and 0 Means OFF

so it should be changed to :

; enable igr
igrEnabled = 0

PS! It seems like the more thats loaded during boot the more it will be screwed, But you will all have to try it out changing one after another to see if it makes a differens, One setting thats screwes up my xbox might actually work on yours, so for best results make some changes, save and reboot to see if it got better or wourse
hurricane
I got a copy of the x2config.ini and changed the options from 1 to 0. It however did not work for me. The ini file is used though because I also changed the flubber animation options and those worked.

Not sure what I am missing. I am going to try and install an app myself to see if that will work since all I have tried so far is what Slayers installed.

Great find on the INI file though, and these forums rule for its contribution factor.
gxnoob
I am in the same position as hurricane. I cannot find the .ini file. It is located nowhere on the F: drive. Is there something wrong with where my bios is located? Im not sure what to try from here.. I dont want to mess anything up cuase we are so close!
hurricane
Gxnoob - You can create the INI file by copying the text that HackDaBox had posted on page 2 of this thread. Paste the text in a text file and save the file as x2config.ini

FTP the x2config.ini you just saved to the root of the F drive on your xbox.

You also have to change the option(s) that HackDaBox mentioned on page 2 of this thread.

Hope it works for you.

HackDaBox

Hello everyone ,

I must say this is the xbox community at it's best ... everyone is helping everyone for the best outcome for all !

Now i should of mentioned the posted x2config.ini is only for the X2 5035 bios. If you flashed your bank 3 with a earlier version then please re-flash with X2 5035 as it's the latest version.

Also when you flash your bios with the X2 5035 bios it does not create the x2config.ini file for you ! You have to ftp this file over yourself !

You can now download the edited version of x2config.ini ( with all the 1's changed to 0's ) from

I hope spider comes up with an update in the near future, because the inability to restart in the middle of a game not only leads to locking up that time, but in my case often takes about 2 or 3 restarts to get all the apps to work again from the dashboard.

although this is the wrong forum technically, i think its fitting to place it here because of the bios and set up we are using. Is there a way to get this to acknowledge the g drive? It's turned on in the settings, but remains to show "0" as its size. There is an extra 100 gigs out there I eventually wanna get ahold of. All the different tutorials on here seem to show using different versions of bios and dashboards and say it could corrupt things if not that version.

but hey, im still looking on the good side here. You guys were lifesavers and came up with this, and I thank you like no other.

No problems !

I think the default settings will make one large F: drive but you change it to F: and G: if you like ... the easiest way is to use the X2 configuration utility , Download it from here ...

http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/~xbox/xbox-scene...X2ool_1.0.4.rar

Once you have tweaked the LBA 48 settings to your fancy you will have to format your new G: drive

Just boot Slayer's Auto Installer V2.6 or Auto Installer Deluxe V2.11 Final and format your G: drive. Then reboot xbox and make sure G: drive is enabled in all dashboards you use !
HackDaBox !
HackDaBox

CODE

lba48 partition modes:

0 = standard partitions
1 = F: gets all (Default)
2 = F: up to 137gb, G: gets rest
3 = F: up to 137gb, no G:

You have to patch 0,1,2 or 3 value at offset 0x1b04 (if you wanna hex dit manually)

However there are tools for lba48 patching and ini file creation - they can be found here:

http://home.alltel.net/nghtshd/x2ool.html
http://x-projects.xbox-scene.com/

Well i was right cool.gif Unless you edit the bios you will just have one big F: drive and no G: drive. You may need to just re-format your hard drive again to sort out the size issue !

Hiya people

Fitted my 1.6a box with a SpiderGX without any problems what so ever, thanks to your guide Hackdabox. Flashed the chip with x2_5035_v16plus_512k on bank 3. Installed slayers. FTPed the x2config.ini from this post to E:, still I have the hang on load problem.

Only difference I can see from the other posters here is that Im using the original HD. Wanted to get everything up and running before buying and installing a new one, but as of now only backups work. Any one here have any sugestions? I know the x2config is placed where it should be on the HD because I can remove or add the "blob" animation by editing the file.

Will installing a new HD and FTPing the file to F: solve the problem? Any suggestions welcome, Im dying to play Ice Climber wink.gif

I have a V1.6 box that I have the SpiderGX installed in. I have been able to install and run Evox with the M8+ bios and the X2 5035. Once I got everything installed I could not launch apps so copied the X2config.ini into my E:\ drive and I can now launch apps. I have made .iso of games but when I try to play them it loads the beginning screen of the copied game then goes to a black screen that says "There's a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged." Does anybody have any idea what the problem is or has anybody got their SpiderGX to play burned games?

I think you just have a bad burn. It sounds like you are able to boot to the disk just fine the xbox just can't read all the data on the disk. Try another disk.

What I don't get is how some people with 1.6 can use the m8 BIOS while some of us can ONLY use the X2 BIOS.

HachDaBox, I took the edited X2config.ini file you posted and placed it on my Xbox on my F: drive. My Xbox responded differently to this file than the other x2config.ini files I have tried. With yours my xbox gives me an ERROR 13 code. But this ERROR 13 code is a distorted version of the one you normally see with a FUBARed Xbox. Any clues?

Your the second person to say that ? OK please email me the x2config.ini that did work for you to HackDaBox@yahoo.com Are you using X2 5035 or X2 5032 ??? I know you must use the right config files that came with each release !

I want to see whats the difference in yours and mine !

HackDaBox !

Hehehe, I got the same porblem when downloading the one from your link. Just copy and paste the tekst from HackDaBoxs link. The problem is easily spotted if you download from the link and edit the file you get. Instead of a neat and "vertical" tekst file, you get every line of text cramped togheter on three lines.

I did this first as well and got the distorted 13 error. Tried again with copy paste, and everything was back to normal. Backups no problem, anything else hangs on loading

OK my original x2config.ini was in ascii text but it got distorted during the download ??? Now i have put my file inside a .RAR file. unrar it using WinRar (www.rarlabs.com) and then the file works great !

Download New Edited x2config.rar !

Or you can copy and paste this NEW edited file into notepad and save it as x2config.ini

Please report back here if you can run games and apps after this new update !

There are many modders ... But there's only one ...

Nope. I still cannot run apps after the new ini file.

Oh well. I can run backups and use XBMC which is all I really wanted but it would be nice to play an emulator once and a while.

Is it possible that there is an IGR setting turned on somewhere else that might be causing the problem?
HackDaBox

Yes if you guys are using Evox Dashboard then please edit the evox.ini file ( it's in your C:\ ) Here is just the top section as thats what we need to edit !

Please make sure you have TSR_Type = 0 and IGR = No. Other dashboards like UnleashX and Avalaunch don't have IGR settings. Only Evox Dashboard needs this editing !
