I can boot it up just fine and I love the Features and appz and the Nice KDE interface to go with it. But Now I want to install it to the HDD. Ive searched and Tryed about three diff tuts. From here and the sXb site. None work. It says "Cant find your img files." or something like that. Then it says Bash 3.0.0 and gets stuck there. Im using

sXbig release2.


Any help is appreciated. Thx in advance.

Speil oh,great you like my fir sxb big hum thats old now but it was a bit slow.
download sxbnew its 30 percent faster and very latest apps and if you like kde desktop
i think i have added a full kde module at site http://sourceforge.net/projects/sxb

Speil,did you have any luck running big sxb on hd ?.
Go,back a few pages on this nic forum i must have add few times how
to run big sxb on hd.Hum,i have not talked about big sxb for 6 7 months
now but i had doc in there and i remember it was no problem running big
sxb on hd.Hum,big sxb release 2 ya i think i asked keck to rebuild the iso.
to add something in etc dir and i think when he rebuild sxb big release iso he did
not add my sxb original doc from release 1.
Try copy all files to e:/sxb and edit linuxbootcfg file and
point dir to there,and run ok.
if usure go back to my old pasts here i must have written
a small book about it on somewhere in old posts. as i have to be
quick today ok i will help more tommrow if no joy.

Hum,i see other people told me they downloaded wrong iso
instead of sxbnew so i change sxbnew iso dir so people can
download .YES,no doubt people still downloding my first sxb big
that was really well build by me but slow as i did not do too much
changes to it so its real slackware the closest you get.So yes
i think slackware com says "IF YOU DO NOT KNOW SLACKWARE THEN YOU
DO NOT KNOW LINUX"

My newer sxb's are more faster and look good but with few silly errors,
as i am experiment new ideas and methods and changes things often.
but when all done as planned it be the best one of all my sxb's and
be well worth it,as i am doing things to new sxb' slackware would not
dare.

what cfg file you on about and are you using sxb big you sure
ok explai what errors you are having fully ok.
which means does it boots and stops with sxb files not found
etc or what,so you just can't say it does not work you have to
tell me where it stops and message does the kernel shows up
or you getting black screen have you 1,6 xbox etc ok.

check if you are using the right linuxboot.cfg file are there 2 linuxboot.cfg files

check you do not have any other linuxboot.cfg file in e hd in root

as e:/linuxboot.cfg

can you cut and paste the linuxboot cfg you are using on post aswell.

ok just past the linuxboot.cfg that will help ok.

Its the linuxboot.cfg.hd.

I rename it to linuxboot.cfg

and change it to




Then I place all the files in sxb on the E partition.


Then i run the .xbe and it says SRRY CANT FIND YOUR IMG FILES!!
along with some other stuff saying that perhaps i entered a wrong location.

then it says

Bash 3.0.0. Then it has the blinking curser.
and it stops right there and goes no further.

And im sure its SxBig Release2.

Ok,been log time sxbbig but i seem to remember people having problems then on hd.
i have left old notes few times on post here.On newer sxb we do not have this problems.

anyway i will see if i can remember and explain again so try again ok.

Ok,sxbbig when it does not find img files error like the prob you are having.

1] Check if you have any linuxboot.cfg files on your xbox hd in root
example E:/linuxboot.cfg or F:/linuxboot.cfg or G hd if you have one.

YES the e:/livecd/linuxboot.cfg or e:/sxb/linuxboot.cfg this is ok
but check you do not have any other linuxboot.cfg in root as i said above ok
in sub dir its ok.
IF you installed any other xbox-linux on your hd and if they added linuxboot.cfg
in root of e f or hd then you will have to rename them or move them..

I think nearly most other xbox linux distro for some strange reasons sometimes
add e:/linuxboot.cfg you see they use xromwell.xbe as default.xbe
so for example their default.xbe usally looks in e/debian/linuxboot.cfg or in e/linuxboot.cfg.

lalee the guy who does Xfedora for xbox was only the other day was still running
his new loopfs as in e/debian/linuxboot.cfg and e/linuxboot.cfg i asked why you
still use e/debian or e/linuxboot.cfg.i said my other and sxbnew i recompiled
xromwell.xbe for sxbnew so in new sxbnew it will only look for sxbnew linuxboot.cfg
in e:/sxbox/linuxboot.cfg only no where else.So i suggested to him to recompile
xromwell as i did and change his path to e:/xfedora anyway i have not been to his
site for few days.

So in all new sxb now sxb will only look in dir e/sxbox and not in root.
hence newer sxb's do not have this problems ok.

So for sxbbig check there are no linuxboot.cfg files in root of hd's ok.

Ok,now you know one of the reasons sxbbig might not be working right
as it might be finding other linuxboot.cfg files on root of your xbox hd's ok.
so check.

You see in sxbbig even if you have your linuxboot.cfg and e/sxb or e/livecd
all correct and in their correct subdir.
See sxbbig will run the first linuxboot.cfg it comes across no matter if its
actually sxb's or other distro's linuxboot.cfg.

So what sxb does is finds linuxboot.cfg in all root of hd's so it runs
using thoes settings and for example: say when you run sxbbig from e:/livecd ya.
and if you have say installed xdebian and if it finds xdebians's. linuxboot.cfg
somwhere in root then sxbbig uses wrong settings from the wrong linuxboot.cfg file
hence sxbbug error sxb or livecd img files not found.

So,again note sxbbig will always run linuxboot.cfg files first in root of hd's
then if does not find in root then it looks in subdir ok.

So 2 things you can try ethier get rid of all linuxboot.cfg from root of hd's
and keep your sxbbig in your subdir only.

The other thing you can do is copy your linuxboot.cfg from your sxb sub dir to
root of e hd e:/linuxboot.cfg and make sure its edited so its pointed to
whatever hd and sub dir you copyied sxbbig files to ok.
you can still leave the linuxboot.cfg in sxbig subdir aswell as you
have doubled your chances of sxbbig working on your hd.

SO NOTE ALL ABOVE IS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS SXBBIG USE TO
HAVE NO FOUD IMG FILES ERROR.
NOTE on newer sxb this is gone and i write install scripts so its easier ok.
But i see even now some silly people having problems even with new sxbnew.
i will explain below why,i have said this before but some do not listen so i will
say all again one last time.

ALL SETTINGS IN LINUXBOOT.CFG LOOKS OK.BUT STILL SXB NOT FINDING
FILES,THIS MEANS LINUXBOOT.CFG GOT CORRUPTED FTP A NEW ONE.

SO AGAIN ONLY EDIT LINUXBOOT.CFG INSIDE RUNNING SXB OR OTHER DISTRO.
OR FTP IT BACK TO PC THEN EDIT WHAT CHANGES YOU WANT TO ADD AND
THEN FTP IT BACK TO XBOX.

Ok if all above fails what i will do is a compile a new xromwell.xbe today
so it only looks for sxbbig files and linuxboot.cfg in some sub dir only ok.
this will get rid of most errors img or wrong linuxboot.cfg not found.
hum tell you what i might even change the name linuxboot.cfg
to sxbboot.cfg so sxb does not run anyother linuxboot.cfg ok

Speil,hum strange,ok go to sxb project site and there is another default.xbe
called poorlinux.xbe i uploaded it for sxbnew.
Its,an xromwell modifed xbe. You know you are using old sxbbig ya,

well there is a new version of sxbbig i was working on called sxb justlike slackware,
i have only uploaded the xorg for it for now i have to finish this new sxbbig soon ok.
and as it is like sxbbig you like,but this one is made with newer slackware and latest
apps i have new kde on it gnome office the whole works on one sxbbig just like slack.
iso and install scripts new kernel and a new initrd.gz etc.

So what i am saying is this new sxbbig will be newer faster use less memory then
my first old sxbbig you like easy to install no file not found errors,etc.
and it be just like old sxb but better ok,i have not had time to finish it,
as i am doing sxbnew release2 sxbmini and poorlinux and not enough hours free
to finish them, new big sxb be 700mb iso full just like slackware ok as i have to
finish one of the others of first,you have to wait.

Ok,when you go and download poorlinux.xbe ya
make a dir on e called sxbox ok

now copy the sxbbig files to this dir and the poorlinux.xbe also

delete or rename the old large default.xbe and rename poorlinux.xbe
to default.xbe and edit linuxboot.cfg script

i am not sure what you doing wrong must be something silly ,but no worries
i give you full marks for trying,hum most people have it running.Not your
fault,it was my first sxb and i had not added much to it.

Ok,all sxb now have a different initrd.gz and what i added was few more
lines of script in linuxrc so now very rarely sxb not found files error.

You see on newer sxb in linuxboot.cfg we can add new lines so sxb always
find the files.. these are sxbhd=disc0part50 this tells sxb that sxb files are on E hd ok
now sxbsubdir-/sxbox this tells sxb that the sxb files ar in sxbox dir ya
so together sxbhd=disc0part50 sxbsubdir-/sxbox means E:/sxbox
so you see not much room for error files not found ya only if someone done something silly.

So i could do a new initrd.gz for old sxb again,but i be honest no point as i said above i have
already done for newer sxbbig,you see i have it all installed and nearly build with
latest slackware102 ya with most apps,etc..

And just to do new initrd.gz again i will have to get old slackware 10 out install
and rebuild all again and i can not see any point doing this as i am already doing
the same for a newer better latest slackware big.,can you see my point.

You see all the sxb devlopment files i had for old sxb big i do not have them as
when i was away for 3 months some people here at home messed with all my
hard disk and stuff and i lost most of my old work and i lost intrest in doing
sxb for a bit.

So few weeks back when i came back i had newer computer stuff,etc and i started
to do sxbnew instead and others now.So there is no point in doing all old stuff again
when i am doing newer scripts and newer sxb ya as any old errors are veted out with
newer sxb's hence less chance of sxb files not found then old method.

Ok,Hoooo,i forgot in sxb's there is a very important file did you add this
little file called livecd.sgn? without this file sxbbig will not run
so check this and also check if not in some other dir.
so realy must be something silly as it works for most
try all above and new default.xbe and let me know how it went.

and why do you not try sxbnew instead ?. or you did.
or wait for new sxb just like slackware,best bet is to ftp
sxb new to e hd instead.
