YES PLEASE I NEED PICS TOO

Here is the way I did it.
I took 12V from the pin on the FET which controls the fan, this goes to the main 12V line, so there is no problem drawing current from it.
I also installed a DPDT switch to select between normal and jet mode tongue.gif the switch only pokes out a few mm from the case.

if you don't want the switch, just pull the red and brown wires from the connector and solder them to the 3rd pin on the fet (see picture), which is dead easy.
(hint for soldering to the pin; try 'tinning' the pin/pad first, heat it up with a soldering iron and add a bit of solder with the other hand. tin the wires too, then you can just touch the wire to the pin and melt the solder together.)

is this detectable by Microsoft and can i wire whisper max fans like this
yaywoop
no rolleyes.gif Microsoft will not know you have done it, unless you send them your xbox.
and you should be able to run any 12v fan off it. as long as it doesn't draw more than about half an amp.
i am assuming you want to replace the fan with another one

yeah i just ordered the whisper fans

Are those whisper fans any good? I have heard they are quite noisy

Kind of an oxymoron, don't you think?

lol
probably the best thing I could do is to cut out the metal fan grill, and drill each hole in the plastic case larger.
that way it would reduce noise, increase airflow and still look ok
or just cut the entire fan grill out and stuff the looks...
XxLos139xX
what yaywoop said will reduce the noise but i really don't care about the noise because the Tv mostly covers the sounds of the fans so no problems and i bought it for the looks

Note: Yaywoop i wired the fans the same way you did except i just used the nitro switch instead of a dpdt and it`s being working beautifully

So, the images in the OP are messed up. Is there a chance that can be fixed? I don't like working blind.
Dietrich
hurrrr never mind, perhaps I should have checked the last page instead of just reading two pages in, I think I follow yaywoop's idea. Wish me luck.

hi see the conector of the fan . direct under motherbord their is black i/c with 4 leg ( 1 front 3 behind )

and the the same other one naer the power . the two of them for both fan > this was happan to me

and i fixed by removing the i/c and replace the new for both > mine was 2 fan not working

My 360 started overheating after about 5 minutes oneday, out of the blue. Needless to say, microsoft was no help. Even though I shipped out my console 3 times for the RROD, and its only been like 7 months since they shipped me this new one, they said my warrenty was expired and wanted to charge me. Why the warrenty doesn't extend when they switchout your console is beyond me since it IS a new console. Anyways, enough with the ranting. I decided to open it up and try to fix it myself, and I found out the right side fan stopped working. So I got three questions.

1. I checked to see if the fan was getting power and its reading the correct voltage (Starting around 5 and going up as the xbox heats up) when the fan is not hooked up. As soon as the fan is plugged in, the voltage instantly drops to around 1 volt. What could be causing that, and is it easily fixable?

2. I decided to wire the fan for 7 volts using 12v from the power supply and 5v from the USB. I did that just incase I couldn't fix the regular fan power supply, besides, I'm planning on adding a third fan, infront of the CPU and the wire won't go to waste. So I hook it up and the fan works fine, but now the other fan doesn't work. I check the voltage on that and its only reading 1.8v with or without the fan hooked up. Any ideas on what the hell happened to that one?

3. Assuming that most likely any fix for the regular fan power supplies will be out of my skill range (ie. replacing a transistor or something) I'm probably gonna have to find new power for all the fans. I don't wanna have the fans at 12v. I've read its noisy as hell, and probably not nessesary, especially when I add the third fan. So my question is, is it safe to run all three fans off of the new connection I made (12v off the power supply grounded to 5v off the USB) or should I use different points for each fan. I'm sure the power supply can handle it since it is powering the whole thing, but will I damage the USB with all 3 fans?

Just thought I would post a few more pictures just in case anyone needed some clearing up. It was actually really easy. I think though when I get more time I will install a switch to go between 7, 10, and 12 though. It is pretty loud. I will say I left my xbox on and went to do a few things around the house, came back, and it was AMAZINGLY barely even warm. The noise definitely is better than RROD. Pics arent to clear, from my iPhone. Srry.

Here is my question.

Can I add an additional fan to this? I have a 70mm fan but don't want to do the fan header mod. I would like to place this in the side of the case. If I connect it to the 12v output in the pics, but leave the rear fans stock.

Hi,

I've got a Zephyr board with a different fan connector.
Something like in this post:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=4473030

(just an ordinary PC 4-pin connector, it even fits).
A close up (probably will expire after some time, so I hope the post above is enough):

IPB Image
How do I connect this to obtain 7 or 9Volts safetly ?
My console overheats after some time, but when I put on the GPU/CPU radiators (after removing a DVD drive) some 80x80 fans connected to my PC for a test - no problems. Played Burnout for 3 hours with no problem.
So I guess a fan mod should do the trick.
I've got Delta fans and none soldering skills so I'll leave it to my friend wink.gif I also have a spare PC fan voltage regulator, so If it's too time and effort consuming to have 9V instead of 12, then I could use this. But if it's easy and quick, then I'd like to keep it to overclock my PC a little more smile.gif

Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

Anyone have pictures of what to do? The main pictures from the beginning of the post arent showing up and I would really like to make sure I am doing it right. If anyone could help or knows of another tutorial it would be greatly appreciated.
