go to www.HackDaBox.com click on Spider GX !
Soldering wont really help with the Spider GX , squeeze it in and if you get all 6 leds on ( one led on the SPider GX and 5 on the SpiderWire PCB ) with the chip turned off then the legs are inserted ok make sure the Spider GX is squeezed onto the lpc !
Use the X2 5035 V1.6 bios and put the edited x2config.ini on your E:\ drive you can grab it from here ...

My website does get busy but it is working fine for me ??? Anyway try the mirror site posted above !
Soldering is not really possible with the Spider GX ... i guess you could remove all the pogo pins and solder on a pinheader and then solder wires on the motherboard for a LPC rebuild but it would be easier to buy another cheap chip and solder that in !
Try returning the chip and order a different chip if you can solder like the duox2 !

For the fact that it frags means your d0 is working !
It's the connection to the lpc that is bad , try pushing down firmly on the chip in different spots and turn on the box ( keep away from the power supply - leave the hard drive in the xbox but remove the dvd-rom and flip it so it's facing the wrong way around )
If it boots even once then your problem is poor lpc connection !

it doesnt boot even once though.. i pushed in most of the spots and still frags. what else could i do? and is there sopousto be 4 or 5 lights when the chip is on? because i ge only 4.. and when its off then i get 5

OK there are 5 leds on the SpiderWire PCB. With the Spider GX off you should have all 5 leds on. When you turn the chip on only 4 leds will be on. There is also a LED on the Spider GX itself so you will have 5 leds on in total out of 6 !

Dude I have the same freegin problem, I have spent a week on this board trying to find a fix. SpiderGx just sucks plain and simple. I am gunna try and exchange for the reliable Xenium ICE. I know cause I've installed them and they are a walk in the park compared to this piece of shit spiderGx.

If you cut the pogo pins , How is it making contact with the LPC port ?

I have another problem...leg broke off...put it aside to solder back on, on one of my days off...now its gone...can i just use wire? if not what is an alternative to the spider wire legs?

Wow i Am very tired of trying to get this dumb ass chip to work. I have all the Lights bright blue as can be, when i turn the chip on, one light goes off..... from what ive been reading that is the objective....Right?
But still nothing at all. I read on the SpiderGX wounderfull Istalation guide that if the Chip isnt in the off possition when you are installing it, the box will reboot 3 times, Which mine is doing everytime unless the switch is in the off possition. SO I took it all appart and reinstalled it with the chip in the off possition.... still the same damn thing 3 boots...... this is very annoying.
HELP PLEASE IVE READ ALL FORRUMS BUT STILL NOTHING
PS. oh yeah and I did the add pressure thing....... oh and another thing. i had to shave parts of the chip and drill a bigger screw hole so that it would make contact.. this chip sucks... Help

Hey i have a new SpiderGX i bought it because i flashed my regular spiderchip wrong, i put in my spider and when its off the regular dashboard runs, when its on it turns on, off, on, off, on (because it was flashed wrong) so i am assuming that the chip is working exccept for the fact that i flashed it wrong. When i put my spiderGX in i can get the 5 lights on the pcb and 1 light in the GX chip it will run the normal ms dash when off but when on dose the same thing as my normal spiderchip (on, off, on, off, on) as if it were flashed wrong. I have 2 questions 1) where does the washer go for the screw on top of the chip or under it? 2) also the the 16mb on the chip is ROM correct? if so why do the put it in a box with a magnetic seal won't that fuck up the rom and erase it.

Hello There ...
The washer goes under the Spider GX ! Try this and your chip might now work !
Follow my install guide here ..
http://www.hackdabox.com/SpiderGX.html
Also thats 16 megabit ( 2 megabytes ROM - 1 meg usable by you ! ) and the case and magnets is one of the best features of the Spider GX !
I haven't herd of any chips not being flashed properly ! so i guess the magnets are safe !
Seriously you have to admit the packaging is awesome !

Buy the cheapest digital multimeter you can and set it to 20k ohmes. In the pic the dial needs to be turned 5 clicks to the left for the correct setting !

Remove the motherboard. Place one probe on a pogo pin and the other probe on the lpc hole on the back of the motherboard. Check every pogo pin. It should read 0 if it's making a good contact.

I tested my LPC connection with a mulitmeter and everything is good, but still my chip won't work and my box keeps fraging.Booting it from bios bank2 dosen't help. I don't know much about chiping but is it posible that my chip is flashed wrong, and can I do anything against it. and what does that wheel on the front panel do?

I have the same problem:
All but one of the LEDs light up when the chip is turned on, and all light up when off. Never comes up into the Spider OS.
Xbox ver 1.0
It frags everytime after 3 tries. I've tried holding down the card multiple times and don't think it is a connection issue.
Anything else to try?
Thanks!

This Chips A freaking Joke!! how are you supose to install this on v1.0 if the lights can hardly help you. The people at spidergx.com wont respond to emails, and the install guide is so hard to follow you might as well guess. On top of all of this their websites down today. Even if people try to help me, theres nothing they can really do except give me advice. This chip sucks!!!

Oh come on ...
Do i have to make a video of the install procedure ???
On a V1.0 - V1.5 you simply place the washer on the metal ring around the screw hole near the lpc area. Place the Spider GX on top of that and screw it down using the provided screw. Then you insert the green wire into the D0 via. The dip switch settings are shipped in the all on state which is perfect !
Boot the chip and flash your bios.
HackDaBox !
PS i do realize the V1.6 install is harder and has issues booting .XBE files but early models are easy !

I tried for 2 1/2 hours last night trying to get mine to align. So far this chip sucks, but I am gonna keep trying to get it aligned. I am having a problem because there is a capacitor or something on the motherboard that I think is in the way. It keeps slipping forward and away from the contact points. I also think it might have something to do with having my lpc points all soldered in and very unevenly. Maybe if I can flatten them somehow I can get it to work. Overall, I am disappointed with this install procedure.

I just tried installing on my other 1.0 that has a Matrix chip in it. No luck. This chip sucks. Will divineo give me my money back. This is ridiculous.
Haha, I put my matrix in, screwed it down, turned on the xbox and BAM!! It booted up. I didn't even try to align it. Good job to everyone that created the matrix chip.

-iv got xbox v. 1 (theres solder in the holes, i crattered it in with a safety pin so the progo pins would stay in place

same same, before checking out forums I bought this chip since Xenium Spice solderless chips weren't available anymore. I used common sense but in general almost everybody has the same trouble. With my chip everything is working the way it should exept booting up gives me frags. It really sucks. Guys from spider just don't comment which ofcourse sucks even more. I guess expect the quallity of the package it is just bad performance and a freaking joke. Some hobbying in the backyard I think.
It seems that the bios is not ok, but I haven't seen anywere how I can put in new bios from a non starting chip. Also all info on the website from
http://www.hackdabox.com can found all together over the internet so read it done it etc but without any results. Thanks anyhow for this guy just to assure myself that I have done all I can and gathered it all together. Measured by AVO meter and all's ok

It seems to be going this way... Unfortunately I bought my chip on the web and the supplier is not responding on my bad news. I suggested not to sell these chips due to bad experience, and advised them to do some forums searches before selling new stuff. Since they are claiming to deliver quality and wish the best for their customers I would have expected this to be done, but not! This was the least I can do to prevent some other people from getting the same chip s..t. I will not tell the name of this website, give them some more week to anwer and come back to me.
