Ten things to hate about the Xbox 360 -- Posted by XanTium on December 7 19:53 EST
CNET's David Carnoy wrote an article about 10 things he 'hates' about the new Xbox 360. It's a bit different then those "all good" reviews we've been seeing over the last few weeks:
1. Beige isn't the new black
2. No killer games at launch
3. Accessories cost a small fortune
4. The hard drive isn't big enough
5. Limited keyboard/mouse support at launch
6. No built-in Wi-Fi
7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back
8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity
9. No built-in card reader
10. You can't get it.

Read the whole article on cnet.com.

8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity

That's the one I agree with the most!

He forgot:

No video play back without MCE.
No divx/xvid support

The fact that its so glitchy and plain old fucked up, with WAY WAY WAY too many errors.

I think MS really screwed up big time. Next-gen console, more like Next-Gen problems.

Since when is white beige? and has anyone filled the hard drive?

MS has done a really good job with that. You get a 20gig with 13gigs free.

btw im being sarcastic.

i agree. i want support for divx/xvid!

also though i understand why it is loud (12 speed!) i wish the dvd drive was quitier... allthough i will put up with it for faster load times, though why does it spin at max speed continously??
is this name taken too?
only 10?!? damn!!

tell you guys what, if you're so unhappy, i'll buy them all from you. laugh.gif

What if the nintendo revolution sells more than the 360 and the ps3 I'd be friken amazed like crazy. Man that be
whats that word im looking for???humiliating for sony and ms. Nintendo is great they just messed up on the cube.
zX_Storm
I think the X360 might actually be worth it.... once it gets modded. I like customizing my games and using my own ideas instead of stealing them and making them worse. *cough*... Until then, I'll stick with my modded XBox, modded PS2, and homebrew apps on PSP. Thank you.
is this name taken too?
what if boys were girls and girls were boys? THAT would be crazy!!! sounds like an adam sandler movie.
theraventron
messed up on the cube? meh, why, nintendo have always been after a different audience/target genre than xbox or ps2. cube is an awesome machine for what it is & the price, around 99AUD(60USD aprox). which is nothing if you love the old school mario/zelda/metroid games.
mrjkwik
although i can agree with a few of the arguments, the rest seem to be more petty bs. many of the arguements coulda been replaced with something more valid.

5. Limited keyboard/mouse support at launch
7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back
9. No built-in card reader

I think those are complete crap. Limited keyboard/mouse support? It's a console! And It's got 3 usb ports! Why would you need more then that? Most computers don't have "built-in card readers". Why would a gameing console...? I hope this guy dies.

finally...some real input. cool.gif

im just so happy right now...

i was planning to get a 360 but instead decided to wait until it was moddable and therefor i spent my money on an 320 gb hdd to my xbox instead.. much better solution..

and for all the problems it has been. im just laughing my ass off and feel pitty for my friends who actually bought one..

its just hilarious to see..

i wanna add a few things too myself..

scratch disc..
no divx..
no storing movies on hdd..
A 20 GB HDD????.. WTF??
heating probs...
160 W powersucker- hey somebody gotta pay electrisity..
the price...
all the little overprized "things" u need to make it some useful..
a media senter- i mean CUM ON- that shit is OLD!
u gotta have xp media center too... WTH??

u wanna think that M$ would thought that 20 gb of hdd would be small- i mean- they are the worlds biggest software company- dont they know that 20 gb is small and USELESS??

my hd on my 98 pc is bigger than that!! ORIGINALLY!! LOL

its just SAD-

i hope they will be able to modd it soon and make it a real console- not just this-

until then- ill be sitting on my fence whit my XBOX and enjoying my self...

has this numbskull ever played a video game before? his list is like he was expecting a pc, and could be applied to any console ever launched.

even though this is true the idiots at smashmyxbox.com or whatever decided to have a little fun.. jerks.

and for the other stuff.. meh.. could give a damn. I like my games and right now llamma has a solution to scratched disks. I will not mod it cause my xbox is gonna become my modding machine.

7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back

I think 3 isn't enough. Let's say you want 4 wired controllers??? No can do. And if you want your iPod and wireless connectivity? No can do too... And computers come with like 10 usb2 ports....

And gotta tell you, i have a 360 and I brought(sp?) a PS2 this weekend. Guess what? I played with the ps2 more than the 360. And no, i dont consider myself a fanboy, i didnt even owned it for a week.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAA

man oh man. have u tried deleting the HD videos they have on the hard drive? and the music? u do realise that u can delete things. and HD videos are not small

way to think there.

anyways. commenting on the top 10 reasons.

8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity
9. No built-in card reader
10. You can't get it.

1. ?? wtf.
2. no killer games? its launch, what u expect. pd0 was killer, cod2 was even more killer, seeing all the EA games in HD alone is killer. go play ps2.
3. yeah, ps2. u got the memory card, the second controller, the multitap if u have more then 2 friends. the network adapter. omg, small fortune for every console.
4. the hdd isnt big enough? im sure if m$ released a 100gb hdd, ud bitch about how expensive it was. this guys a f00l
5. is there even a comment needeD? has any other console ever had mouse/keyboard support at launch?
6. once again, has any console done this before?
7. thats what a usb hub is for. should be using wireless controllers anyways, they pwn
8. hdmi or dvi, well, component is enough for a TV is it not?
9. card reader. well maybe if there was a STANDARD. theres how many different types out.
10. no ones fault but yours. shoulda waited in line earlier. or be patient

m$ cant customize the console to everyones needs/wants. get used to it. thats the way it is. call m$ and complain about how they didnt add your card reader for you, see what they say. better yet, call sony and nintendo and tell them to put it in their console cause it could sell millions more. im sure theyll respond much like m$ would:
'sir, the card readers are $2 in stores, go buy one and use the usb like everyone else'

im sure im not the first person to think this, but isnt it just annoying how many people are riding the '360 sux bandwagon'? most of which havent even played or owned the console.

this brings back the old bash.org (i think) quote from irc of:
"im going to invent a device that allows me to stab people in the face over the internet. ill make millions"
something along those lines

CNET's opinion doesn't matter. After all, they're the people who decided that the new GameFAQs layout was a good idea.

Anyway, maybe I should send THEM an email... 10 things I hate about CNET. #1 would have to be "Prompting me to email then with a list which, in its creation, forced me to narrow down my top ten things to hate about CNET from the thousands upon thousands of possibilities."
jaygould30
Im sorry but I agree with the people saying this list is just a pathetic excuse for someone to fill their daily story quota. I garentee he dont even play video games. First off it's a video game console not a friggin computer so why would you expect them to have a whole bunch of stuff for keyboards/mouse stuff? Remember WebTV, that thing sucked ass and so does anything that tries to use keyboards/mouse combinations other then a computer...it just doesnt feel right. Also a friggin card reader!?!?.....First off that comment is grounds for getting shoot in the head. Their is no purpose for that on a video game console (yes people lets remember what it is) and if you really need that functionality well lets see it connects to your friggin computer and allows you to stream so get a friggin card reader on your computer! Then their is this whole beige comment...this makes me think he hasnt even looked at the damn thing because its clearly a white console not beige. Beige is the color of the old standard computer cases. Also I think that anyone who complains about the COLOR of a system is being pathetic and personally I think the system looks amazing in white and I love how it stands out instead of the boring black that everyyyyyy system uses. Another one that seems like he went and just listened to some whiny people at EBgames or Gamestop is the no killer games on launch comment. Umm was I mistaken or isn't Call of Duty probably the best game anyone has ever seen? Then their is PDZ which I know alot of people are somewhat disappointed with but I think its prety amazing and multiplayer is tons of fun. And if your a racing fan you have 2 reallly good games to choose from on launch. Personally I think this line up is better then any I've seen so far except for, of course, halo on launch and we all know that halo 3 will be out in time to fight sales of the PS3 so I dont see how that not being out for launch is such a shock. I dont think Halo 3 should be considered the ONLY killer game that could have launched during launch day but its safe to say if it did no one would be saying this because if you put Halo 3 on top of the games out right now would be the wetting yourself for the next year off of those games alone. The USB's issue is kinda stupid too. The idea is to make everything go wireless so all your going to be using those 3 USB's for is WiFi adapter and a camera later down the line.

I think if your going to make a list of things that you hate about the xbox 360 you better have alot of time using the system and know what your talking about because people are passionate about things like this and people dont take kindly to stupid information. If you wanted to put anything on that list it should be how loud the dvd player is when running an xbox 360 game. As well as the penny pinching they did by not making it so you could indeed move the system (noticed I said move not flip) while the game was still in with out ruining it. Also I will grant that 20GiGs isnt that much butttttt it's more then the original or any other system will offer for that matter. We all just have an issue with it because we are hacking bastards that put huge harddrives in the old one to steal games and such. But dont worry you know within 6 months they will have more options for the hard drive. Thats what they do....its all about upgrades, you will see the 40 and 60 GiG hard drives eventually. Mark my word. Thats if someone doesnt hack it first.
luther349
not enough usb ports. thats kinda true and false. if 3 isnt enough why not get a usb hub. this is what sony did with the ps2. so if you think 3 isnt enough ask m$ to relese a usb hub for it. it shoulda had 4 thow in the case of 4 wired controlers.

are you telling us you arent aware of the fact that the games themselves play in HD?

if you didnt know, they do.

I only have 3 beefs with it:

1) The DVD drive is incredibly loud.
2) Backwards compatibility is iffy at best.
3) Half-Life 2 dosn't play in widescreen (playing at 1080i and it is in a box... bs)

ok the HD-DVD format isn't even finalized... it would cost an arm and leg to include.

the reason lots of people are concerned about HDTVs is because it supports HD in the following ways:

every game is in HD,
you can watch WMV HD through MCE extender built in (though Divx HD would be wicked as well)
you can watch HD TV through your MCE if you have a HD tuner in it.

what else when the next gen dvd format is finalzed they could offer external players. using usb 2.0 or even on new revisions they could include next gen dvd format support in the box (this would end up pissing me off tongue.gif )

I have one simple solution that solves every one of his problems.

GET A PC!!!

Also on a semi related note. I'm under the impression that DivX/XviD are different implementations of MPEG4. Isn't there some simple way to change the container format to a compatible one or something, or does 360 not have any mpeg4 support at all?

buy a hub..... dry.gif

Doesnt ps2 only have two (that are relatively useless)?

Oh yea.......its not a computer!!!

So your saying that you have a 360 and just got ps2 and now your playing it more. Im not a psychologist but I would expect you to play the newer system more.......

on the other hand I own all the systems and even though my ps2 is defective right now i cant bother to fix it.....never used it anyway.

anyways back to pdo!!!! pop.gif

6. once again, has any console done this before?

Actually, yes. And not even a console, a friggin handheld for crying out loud. I gotta say though, MS did really screw up on the launch with not having enough units.
amb7247
having a wi-fi adapter is the smartest thing MS did. They make more money off of the accessories and make it up for the cost of producing the consoles. It is smart of them not to include it in the console.
jaygould30
I forgot to add one other beef that I think might have been brought up already but if not here ya go. THe backwards compatibility issue. I havent had any problems playing the games that are supporting it but I do have an issue with the list of games. 1.) It's to small right now and should have been much greater at the time of launch. It almosts seems as if it was a complete after thought and thats not cool. I personally think its nice to be able to play all your games on one system instead of going back to the original system again. and 2.) Some of the games they choose for the list boggle the mind. Get the good games first dammit. Just my opinion.
BasicAir
X-S was lagging me and therefor double-posted for some reason... Sorry.
madsci1016
Does anyone else get that this game conlsole is just that, a game console. Untill it is hacked and modded the only reason for its being is to sit there and play games. A car's man purpose is to get you from point a to point b, so arguing over the quality of its stereo system is mu point. sure m$ threw in some extra features, but they do not concern its main purpose

I have a digital projector, dolby 5.1 and a terabyte NAS filled with movies and my xbox with xbmc has been one of my best investments ever, sure i play games now and then, but i use it mostly as a full blown media center. This list should have been saved untill after it is hacked, because then most of its points come into play, not now.

I do hope to one day buy a 360 to replace my xbox, but untill the day where it can do as much as my modded box, my money is staying in my pocket.

Like a couple of other people have mentioned... my biggest complaint is the inability to stream video without MCE. That's a load of BS. I can stream just about any video format I want with XBMC and WinXP on the original XBox. Requiring MCE is total and utter BS.
MusashiX2
ok, i do not own a 360 and i honestly don't want one until the modding capabilities match what i do with my current xbox. but here is my take on his gripes. i think if you read just what X-S posted on the front page it seems like he is being unjust. once i read the full article i thought he was actually pretty fair.

1. i agree, i do not like the way the console looks. it's not exactly white, it's like a de-virginized off white. i've seen the pics of the black dev kit version and it looks much nicer. and yeah, i agree that the faceplates are lame. they cost $20 and only the front has the design. i can get a can of spray paint and a can of clearcoat for like $8 and i can have the entire system be the color i want. the color of a console is always hit or miss, some ppl do not like black consoles, so who cares? i just don't see why M$ went from black and green to white and green. why not ditch the green also?

2. his main point is that nothing is AMAZINGLY next gen. the stuff looks like the highest end computers. but what he didn't mention that i think is a better point is that lots of the launch games are on other systems. the sports games came out awhile ago on everything, PC has call of duty 2, most wanted is on EVERYTHING, and some others. only xbox-only games off the top of my head are perfect dark, gotham racing, kameo, and criminal origins.

3. yeah, there are lots of accessories for every console and they add up to quite a bit. but i have never seen such expensive stuff like the 360. even controllers are pricy, and doesn't the wireless adapter cost $100?

4. mehh, it's not huge but they gotta go economical here so i don't agree too much with this point. can you run stuff off a network from your computers like i do with XBMC? is so then so what about the hdd size.

5. i think it'd be nice to use kb and mouse on games, and there are plenty of ppl who agree with that. if there weren't enough ppl who think that then why were the XFPS(forget the name exactly) and the SmartJoy Frag for the original xbox made?

6. yeah, it would be nice if it was built in. i just think it's much more lame because the adapter is so expensive!!! and yeah, PSP launched with it built in.

7. sucks for poor ppl who can only afford wired controllers. also, M$ did advertise a lot how the 360 would be compatible with like EVERYTHING, from iPod to PSP to toasters. remember that hip looking pirate J Allard infront of the big screen showing all the stuff it would interact with? well in my mind the more compatibility the higher need for more ports. the ps2 only had two but its controllers did not use them, you never really needed more than 2.

8. component is awesome. i think HDMI would be awesome and they should have done it, since this system is supposed to be next-gen and next-gen TVs' best input is HDMI.

9. sucks if you don't have the hdd and you wanna watch stuff on the 360.

10. indeed you can't get them. and saying "you should've been in line early" is bull shit. some ppl have real jobs and can not afford to do that what-so-ever. if my buddy who is a lawyer really wanted a 360, sitting in line for hours and getting it after midnight is not an option when he's gotta be up for work at 5am and may be working until as late as midnight. other ppl can't miss work for a console launch because they don't show they don't get paid.

so there's my take on it. i'm sure i may get flamed by some for this, but whatever. i just thought i'd throw in my 2 yen.

QUOTE(BasicAir @ Dec 8 2005, 04:51 AM) *

What a cock sucking son of a bitch idiot. I'm sorry, but this Cnet idiot is clearly an anti-MS flaming faggot trying to convert others to his views. Jesus christ what a fucking stupid article... X-S should refrain from all news items like this which are no more than personal idiotic rants that have no merit.

The #10 "reason" is direct proof of how bullshit this article is and how much of an idiot this Cnet guy is. I'm normally extremely civilized, but I can't help but go off on this pathetic fuck "David Carnoy." What a fucking idiot.

Let me break down his bullshit "reasons" for you:
=== TOP 10 REASONS NOT TO BELIEVE A WORD THIS IDIOT SAYS ===

1. Beige isn't the new black.

Come on... What the fuck is this bullshit? Come up with some real reasons if you want any respect. Idiot. Just because he doesn't like the color white doesn't mean nobody should buy the console. Not only that, but who gives a fuck when you can easilly paint your console whatever color you want... Much easier than painting a black system, too. Plus you can get a faceplate of whatever color you want. This guy needs to be fired from his 'job.'

2. No killer games at launch

Riiiiight. The 360 lineup has been called the "best launch lineup ever" by MANY critics. What the fuck does this douchebag expect, a 'Halo 3'? Get real... The launch lineup kicks a LOT of ass. If anything he should have made this "reason" to state that there could have been more titles released within 1 month of the 360 launch than there is... Now 'that' is actually a -decent- reason.

3. Accessories cost a small fortune

First of all, NO, these accessories do NOT cost a 'fortune.' Secondly, anyone remember the accessories for Xbox1 and/or PS2? They were just as expensive (controllers, memory cards...). What a dumbass. Thirdly, if he's expecting a next-gen system to have accessories more than MAYBE $1-5 cheaper than the 360's accessories than he's having a wet dream. Idiot.

4. The hard drive isn't big enough

I agree that it -could- have been a little bigger.... Do I really care though? No.... Whoever seriously wants to download every single item on the Xbox Marketplace and/or wants to keep them on the hdd for more than a few days or weeks is an idiot (except for extremely meaningful items and/or Arcade games). Also a larger 2.5" SATA hdd would have costed significantly more money. Sure it wouldn't be $50 or more, probably, but it would still be more. Plus if you're really that kind of a person who never wants to delete anything they've downloaded, M$ will definitely put out larger hdd's in the future. All-in-all, though, the size of the hdd really isn't a deal-breaker so sorry you Cnet fuck but you're wrong again.

5. Limited keyboard/mouse support at launch

Ummmm.... There's a reason M$ doesn't make keyboards/mice more compatible (such as making fps titles kb/m compatible). Why? Well if they did, then people with controllers would get raped and would be complaining non-stop at M$. Okay, so they could just get a kb/m, too, and start kicking ass again, right? Wrong... I am NOT the minority when I say that I would prefer for home console systems to NOT support kb/m for fps titles. Why? First of all, as already stated, you will essentially HAVE to play with a kb/m to stand a chance, unless you're a truly 1 in 1,000 person who's seriously better with a controller than a significant amount of kb/m people. Now before anyone bitches at me saying I'm wrong, let me say I have experience! I've experienced this with Dreamcast and Q3Arena... Believe me, if you didn't have the DC kb/m than you were as good as 1 kill and 15+ deaths. EVERYONE complained. Secondly, though, playing with a kb/m is less comfortable for most people... You can't exactly lay back in your couch or lay-z-boy with a kb/m.. It's physically possible but insanely impractical... Believe me. As for other kb/m support what would you want? I hear you can already use them all over the dashboard like typing text messages to 'friends'... Even if you can't, who cares? Just send a voice message... My god. Idiot Cnet fuck, once again this is NOT a deal brekaer for buying the 360 or not.

6. No built-in Wi-Fi

What more can I say than this is certainly not a deal breaker? First you have the wireless adapters available at launch... Sure it costs some more money, but if you're that serious about wireless connectability than surely you have some spare money. Secondly, can you really blame M$ for trying to get a few more bucks out of you? I can't... It's good marketing. Thirdly, don't you think internal wireless support may possibly result in more chances for your system to malfunction? I think so... Idiot. Lastly, the fact remains that more than 50% of the people with Live (probably 75%+) actually have/want wireless networks and/or the 360 to be wireless. Enough said...

7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back

Come on... There are more than enough... There's really not enough more to say about this other than this guy is a total idiot... Talk about absolutely stretching his idiot 10 IQ to find something as lame as this to list... God, what a fucking idiot!

8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity

Oh my... You got to be kidding me. I'm a A/V enthusiast and especially in the field of high definition. What more would HDMI or DVI give you with the Xbox 360? Hmmm... Literally less than 5% of a difference in quality, and NO I do not mean it would be as high as 4.9%. I'm such an A/V fanatic that yes, I would care about 5% but enough to complain about it to anyone/anywhere/anytime? NO... If he actually played the 360 on a HDTV with the component cables, for example, he would take this back... Then again this guy is obviously a complete idiot so who knows. I got HDMI and DVI and PC and Component, etc., etc. connections on my 50" DLP TV, and I have NO complaints the 360 doesn't support HDMI/DVI. As a matter of fact, all my other HD components are using up all my HDMI/DVI jacks, so it's actually very nice to use my 360 on component and get 95-100% the same quality as if it had HDMI/DVI. This Cnet guy can fucking blow me; he obviously doesn't know enough about HDTV or else he wouldn't have even said this. Yes HDMI/DVI would still be a compliment, but NO it would not be a big deal in any way and by no means is it a 'deal breaker' reason to buy or not to buy a 360.

9. No built-in card reader

Just like built-in wi-fi, this could give your 360 more reason to crap out on you. Okay, yes this feature would still be nice, but with all the other ways to view digital pictures (including even hooking up your digi camera that HAS a card in it -- omg what a novelty, imagine that), what the fuck are you complaining about? What an absolute moron; I can't believe this idiot has a job at Cnet. DEFINITELY not a reason not to buy the fine next-gen system the 360 is.

10. You can't get it.

This guy is smart - he actually tells us with this moronic 'reason' exactly how stupid he is and why we shouldn't take his advice and 'not buy the Xbox 360.' EVERY next-gen system is going to be sold out (at least to some degree) when it first comes out... And if he's a Sony fan, and I don't know if he is or not, than what are we supposed to do - buy a PS3 that doesn't even exist right now? Japan is going to get a PS3 way before us Americans will be able to get one and THEY won't even get one for probably 6-10 months. So what is this guy really saying here- Wait 'til you CAN buy it and THEN buy it? That's surely what it sounds like... Doesn't that mean his entire 'article' contradicts itself? YES. Fucking idiot.

----------------------

Even if I wasn't a Xbox fan (and I am, but not any 'fanboy' despite what you might think), I would still say every single thing I have said in this post and no I'm not joking one bit... Everything I said is true and every 'reason' this fucking idiot cites is NOT A DEAL BREAKER OR A REASON 'NOT' TO BUY A 360. This is a completely moronic reply I've got here to an even more moronic news article. Believe it.

Sorry but you are a fanboy... Your opinion seems to be fixed on one side, that makes you pretty mucha fanboy.

For #10, what he meant was that MS didn't produce enough of them to satisfy most Americans, I mean, only 400 000 of em! Are they insane or is it stupid marketing strategy?

#9 Not all digital cameras or camcorders come with a usb cord. And don't forget that a lot of people use those cards to share their photos, videos, etc.

#8 You're right

#7 You're right

#6 Wi-fi is really important now. I for one decided not to buy the 360 for that reason alone. I'm a fulltime student, spending 100$ more makes a huge difference for me

#5 Altho I do admit a keyboard is useless, a mouse would be more than conveniant when browsing through Live when downloading.

#4 It is a deal breaker since it couldve been easily avoided. Just by making the console a bit bigger, the 360 would've had at least 120 Gigs.

#3 Umh... It does cost a lot more than past generation consoles, go double check the prices.

#2 I do remember the launch of N64, one of the greatest game of all time launched with it, Mario 64. It is possible to have a killer app from Day 1 but then again, MS is to blame for hurrying the launch.

#1 If someone is an idiot, it is you. Notice the title: Ten things I hate about the Xbox 360, it's his opinions, we all have our own opinions, get over it, so what if he doesn't like Beige? He's not trying to convince anyone, he's just stating his o-p-i-n-i-on. Freedom of speech, remember?

Well, I will say it once and again, ign is biased. Those reasons are bs. Did they really have to go into time by making tutorials of why not buying 360s but buying nintendo, sony and pc. As other forum members bashing the 360 for not divx. I came to buy gameconsoles for games, that is all. So what if it doesn't have divx. I am currently enjoying my 360 to the core, the most funnest console I played with. I spend 700 bucks cdn, and I say it is worth every frickin penny. Never seen such games in immersive levels, where there is no limits. I get lost in the perfect dark zero jungle level, and hell it is so fun. The graphics are superb. For once, I can reckognise the face of my enemy. Each enemy has different hair deatails and whatever. Xbox 360 is the best console, and certainly is better than ps3.
MusashiX2
my own gripes would include M$ being less unique then before. they had a controller that was solid and somewhat different than the others (obviously i mean the S) but now they copied ps2 with the four shoulder buttons and then gave them stupid names. why didn't they just move black and white to the shoulders instead of Rb and Lb? retarded... and why does it have to stand vertically? is anybody else bothered by the fact that all three next gen consoles are gonna stand vertically? that was sony's thing, leave it to them. oh yeah, and trying to take ideas from the real visionaries... the modders!!! they tried copying XBMC and the whole faceplate thing is for the idiots who don't paint and wanna have a custom look. if you're too big of a pussy to paint your xbox then you send it to one of us and pay us to do it, DAMMIT!!! jester.gif

1. Beige isn't the new black. lets make it hot pink! but wait! hot pink isn't the new black.
2. No killer games at launch. what console did have a killer launch game? (halo wasnt that good. admit it)
3. Accessories cost a small fortune. if you get the core
4. The hard drive isn't big enough. what are you planning to put on the hard drive? its used for gamesaves and music. and downloadable content, not to store your 3 terabyte collection of pr0n.
5. Limited keyboard/mouse support at launch. wow, no console ever has had this off launch. its still barely used.
6. No built-in Wi-Fi. i guess if you use Wi-Fi, i guess you could complain, but you get an ethernet cable.
7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back. agian, what? are you going to use them for? do you need more than one mp3 player on it? LEIK LETS PUT 17 ON THEM LEIK THE PS3 CUZ THE PS3 RRUULLZZ
8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity. ok, your right.
9. No built-in card reader. lol, they dont have a popcorn maker either! /COMPLAIN
10. You can't get it. yah, true. but if you cant get it, how can you complain about it other than you cant get it?

What are you? Stupid or just brain dead? How can you say it's better than something that it's even out yet.
Gosh, you sir are a true fanboy.

Some of his points are good and some bad. But I think what he was getting at is good ole Bill said this is being designed as a centerpiece for a living room (ha) that has huge amounts of media, gaming, and entertainment value making it the next must have thing. So I'll only comment on things I sorta agree on. The rest of them I don't.

3. Accessories cost a small fortune
Very true, a extra controller for how much? OMFG.

4. The hard drive isn't big enough
Bill is just asking for people to mod the 360. 20 GB is nothing these days and I'm sure we will have to keep deleting stuff to add. It should be big enough that I don't have to remove (music 2) folder to add my new (music 5). There will be several fantastic new things to download soon over the next 5 years. Anyone want to bet they will be selling a 100 GB one for $150 in 2007?

5. Limited keyboard/mouse support at launch
MS knows to get full functions out of anything that is this type of computer (it is just a computer you know) you need keyboard and a mouse along with a controller. Once again anyone want to bet a 360 mouse and keyboard will be availible soon?

6. No built-in Wi-Fi
How can you have a entertainment center of the future without this?

7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back
3? 1 extra controller, 1 camera, 1 extra memory thing....you're out of luck

8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity
see answer for #6

9. No built-in card reader
see #6 again

That guy is a moron. You can't expect everything on a game console. He should stop bitching and buy a PC.
There are only 4 things that I wish were changed.

1: You have to have Windows MCE to stream video. I see no reason to not support XP Pro except maybe to sell more Windows MCE.

2:You can't play video from an external USB device. Come on, how hard would it be to support that?

3: Only 1 USB port on the back. I wish there were two just so I could have the wireless adapter plugged in and an iPod to play music so the front of my XBOX looks clean without any wires sticking out. But I agree that it doesn't need a zillion ports on the back.

4: The loud DVD drive. I wish it would slow down when it doesn't need to read a disc at 12x speed. It doesn't need to run that fast the whole time.

Other than those 4 things, I love my 360. Well worth buying.

1. Beige isn't the new black
Isn't it white?

2. No killer games at launch
All around the best launch set I've seen in a while.
What he means is, no halo? Removing the game Halo
from existance, name a better launch.

3. Accessories cost a small fortune
True. 50 bucks a controller.

4. The hard drive isn't big enough
You listen to too much music, so stream.
Or pay a small fortune when a bigger one comes out. smile.gif

5. Limited keyboard/mouse support at launch
It isn't a computer.

6. No built-in Wi-Fi
Yes. So people like me, who don't need wifi, aren't forced
to pay a small fortune for this accessory, raising the price tag.

7. Not enough USB ports, especially on the back
What do you need more for?

8. No HDMI or DVI connectivity
True. Must be a pain for some people.

9. No built-in card reader
It isn't a computer.

10. You can't get it.
I did. Is that what this is all about?

He's got a couple good points, but it seems like he was really stretching to make it to 10.

I just had to comment on this...

1. No HDMI support?? what.

There are already adapters for VGA and HDMI

Pelican Live Wire HDMI Cable (PL3618) for Xbox 360 19.95 from JR music world.

2. No wireless be real, anyone making a serious network is going to wire it. I don't care which one you use A/B/G 108 mbits theoretical, when most wired networks are 1gbit. I know mine is. I would rather have had the box be 1gbit like all my computer and switch then have built in laggy wireless.

3. No usb ports, get real plug in a hub they work fine.

4. Center of multimedia expierence. Thats the biggerst annoyance. Lack of divx support is ridiculus so is the fact I can't load anything I want on the hard drive. External hd work for pictures and music only. Of course, they have to be formated in fat32. Are we back to windows 98 every XP system I have ever seen is ntfs. I should be able to put whatever media files I want on the hard drive, not just "ripped audio cds".

I should be able to play every media file format I want off an external hard drive. XBMC and their own media center have been able to do this for years. It was not a quantum leap in technology.

Oh and lets not forget, setting up that stupid media connect is a nightmare. I still have yet to get it to work with my notebook. Thank goodness I have a media center PC (well a pc with media center installed anyway)

I personally would gladly pay for a more feature rich media player. Maybe there is a license fee for some of the codecs and such. Well, give me a dash upgrade for 50 bucks. I'll gladily pay it to get full media center like functionality.

So basically, nitpicking the color, and lack of usb are pretty lame...There are plenty of legitment issues.

* no divx
* limited uses for the hd
* NO real backwards compatibility, or forwards compatibility. New games I want now, I can't play on 360
* lack of support for saves off the old box.
* cant get one(thats a REAL issue for many people) especially when movie stars are getting them for free.

1. Its white

2. PD0 / COD2 / King Kong

3. If you were smart enough to buy the Premium, the only thing you might have to worry about is extra controllers. and both PS3 and X360, they will cost at least $50

4. 20 GB is plenty for launch.. PS2 didn't have HDD, nor did the Dreamcast / GC.

5. Not needed yet

6. If you need Wi-Fi, buy the adapter.. Most people are still wired in their homes.

7. USB Hubs (though I don't know why you would need more)

8. Component is still great. Though I hear that there will be cables for HDMI / DVI later on down the road.

9. Unnecessary.

10. Not a reason to hate the XBOX 360. PlayStation 2 was the exact same way at launch. and the PlayStation 3 will follow in the same footsteps.
