Microsoft's CEO will have to shop for his Xbox 360
-- Posted by XanTium on December 7 23:27 EST
Coming from Reuters ... so I guess it's not a joke:
[QUOTE]
Microsoft Corp.'s Chief Executive Steve Ballmer will have to shop around for an Xbox 360 game console this holiday season just like the rest of us -- it doesn't come with his job.
"The Ballmer children do not have their Xbox 360 yet. I'm in the same boat as many of you," Ballmer said. "Thanks to the wonders of Sarbanes-Oxley, management does not get a free Xbox 360," he quipped at a meeting of technology industry executives.

Whatever. So, celebrities received free Xbox 360's, but Steve Ballmer has to wait? Hmm...

He's not in the same boat as most of us. Steve Balmer has a
net worth of 14,000,000,000 dollars, making him the 11th richest person on earth. He could buy a hundred 360s off ebay in blink.

Like the "Balmer Children" don't have one. They've had it for months, just like the "Allard Children" or "Allard Friends" or "Gates Babies".
Now I feel like they're taunting us...
If I were man enough, I would boycott the 360. But I'm not... I'll admit it...

I would say BS to this as well if he had not dropped the name Sarbanes-Oxley. I swear to god, those auditors are the biggest jokes on this earth. We recently had them audit our company. No clue as to what they were doing. They make up rules that just made my head spin, something as stupid as this wouldnt spurise me.
But Im sure he has his own by now

Actually it's not BS, management, employees, vendors.... no one gets one for free. Hell you can't even buy 'em at the company store.

Yes! As someone who deals with the Sarbanes-Oxley crap on a daily basis, I can attest to this. The type of things they have us doing to prove we're financially responsible is almost beyond belief. The amount of work that this has added to an everyday persons job like myself (I'm a programmer) is unbelievable. I would not doubt this either. Love the quote about ebay btw.

I too have experience with Sarbanes-Oxley.
I wouldnt doubt this story one bit. To all of those calling BS, I would have to assume the Enron fallout didnt effect any of your families. These guys are in place so shady stuff can't go down again in theory, however who watches the watchers is my question.
Looks like me and Steves kids get screwed for Xmas. Ironic considering im a nobody
Well everyone that was involved with the 360 received a special edition box (just like the dev. of the first xbox). I cannot remember if they had to pay for them or not, but they were made just for the company.

Guys, it's obvious. Balmer doesn't want to spoil his children. He doesn't want them to grow up to be brats. He's teaching them a lesson by making them wait like normal people, DUH!

Our lan backup failed and I reported it, but didnt put the ticket number of the case I created in our logs. So now I have one more thing to do to make sure I dont forget the first thing I was supposed to do.
I mean, all we do is make playing cards! (its still a fun business though)

That blows...
Bill Gates: Eh yo make me more 360's!!!
Employee: ok...
5 Minutes later Bill gates leaves....
Employee steals over 100 360's, quits job and sells on ebay! ( i would have done that but, i would not qualify as a MS employee )

1UP: ...like Steve Ballmer?
Moore: Like Steve's kids! True story. Steve, I don't know if you're familiar with Sarbanes-Oxley, but that's the law since Enron and everything. If you're the officer of a company, you can't accept a gift. Steve's obviously an officer of a company, so, even if we wanted to give him one, we couldn't. And he can't buy one--because he can't find one. And so the Ballmer boys--Steve has three boys, they're all pretty...I don't want to say "hardcore gamers," Steve would hate me for that, but, they all want to play with the 360 and just can't get one right now.
No load of crap guys. Sarbanes-Oxley is no joke, you dont want to piss these cats off.
