Hey. I have heard a lot of negative things about this game. I read the reviews from both ign and gamespot. Usually the consumer reviews are higher than the video game websites. But in this case, it appears that the consumer reviews are lower. So, are there people out there that think this is a great game? I'm anxious to get online and play this for months. I'm hoping it's as great as its claimed to be....

I myself did not enjoy it very much. I think COD2 was way better, and much more fun to play over live. Perfect Dark was ok at best, but that is my opinion. Here are opinions of some others.

From someone who just got the Xbox360 yesterday and played PDZ quite a bit (up to level 4 or 5 already). I think it's a pretty good game depending on what you are expecting.

I have COD2 on PC and have beat it. They are two completely different games. COD2 is obviously more realistic and authentic since it's a WWII Based FPS that relies heavily on squadmates, scripted scenes, etc. It's very immersive.

PDZ is more along the lines of the standard FPS but they add variety (controlling a robot, providing sniper cover for your partner, etc) but is obviously unrealistic since it takes place in a fantasy world and time.

Personally I think PDZ's strongest point (is reflected in most reviews too) is the amazing weapon modelling. All the weapons look great, sound great and are fun to use. The graphics are decent most times and can be really good at times. It's a lot more action and most of the time, it'll be you against everyone.

I think it's unfair comparing the two (COD2 and PDZ) because they are really two different types of games. I would get COD2 for the Xbox360 but already have it beat it on PC.

Just get both.

Yea, I did my research and got COD2 and Perfect dark for my 2 launch games. I'm really looking forward to xbox live. I'm also thinking about pgr3, but I'm not too fond of racing games. But yea, I'm not expecting too much out of PDZ's single player. But I hope the multiplayer is off the charts!!!

LOL. Online too?

Honestly, I think the online multiplayer aspect of this game is its greatest feature. Eradication and infestation with 16+ people is alot of fun. Although I like the campaign, I feel its lacking somewhat. But I'm sure if I played this game through on co-op it would be a lot better than single player. Anyways the array of weapons is awesome. Everything from the look to the way they fire is pretty sweet. But like I said if you plan to play this online you won't be disappointed. While COD 2 has a better campaign mode in my opinion, its online play is not as good as PDZ. COD 2 online play could be improved with an update but right now its somewhat limited.

perfect dark zero is really good in my opinion...
deadpool66
Pdz is ok but call of duty 2 and condemned are way better games.

I finally got a hold of this game last night from blockbuster, and made it a good way through it. I think I am on level 5 now (just started).

It is a decent game. I think if I had spent $50-$60 on this game I would be disappointed. the gameplay is entertaining and I plan on playing it all the way through, but it is definitely not worth that price. Maybe if it were $20-$30 I would purchase it.

The multiplayer was pretty good, I only got to play two games (split screen) but had fun with the bots. It reminded me a lot of unreal tournament on PC (only slower). I play halo, and I don't think the multiplayer was as fun as halo, but stil entertaining and I could see myself playing it for a while.

Summary: Not worth the current price, but fun and worth buying later for a much cheaper price.

I just got pdz and it is notwhat I expected. I was expecting it to be very similar to the old school perfect dark that I enjoyed so much. it seems they took a lot from that game but not the kind of stuff I was expecting. I was hoping to have all the mini game, training sims that were basically the center of the old game. All that is included in pdz is single player missions which are boring and the multiplayer which is really awesome. The multiplayer really reminds me of the old goldeneye and perfect dark multiplayer. I kinda suprised they kept it so slow paced and didnt add a jump, however. playing a rockets only is a very strange experiance if you are used to playing rockets in halo. i see a rocket coming and my first instict is too jump and dodge it. I think this game just takes some getting used to if you have been playing all the new school shooters. i think its more of a nostalgic game than enything else.
Granulated
I played PDZ for a while...first two levels and half an hour of multiplayer. Very unimpressed with single player, even more dissappointed with multiplayer.
xPRimNT
It is totally a matter of opinion. If you go into a game expecting something, you are going to be disappointed, even with something like Halo 2.

I went into PD0 with no expectations, just wanting to see what it could offer. In my opinion, it delivered some pretty interesting stuff!

The Co-op single player was what has drawn most of my time. Playing through the hardest difficulty was ... hard enough to keep our attention, with tons of level retries. I found it great fun!

Multiplayer is also fun. DarkOps is like a slower paced CS, but without jumping. While I found it strange that they didn't include jumping, it doesn't take long to get used to.

I prefer PD0's 32 people online to COD2's 8.

All in all, I like the game... Give it a try.
jfoster
IMO, sucks. Included it with the sale of my other 360... will not miss it. COD2>

crobar
this game is poop...
the ai is horid.
for instance...and im sure many of you will agree.

you can be in cover exchanging fire with the enemy
and your having fun till you realize the enemy is so
stupid that not only do they not take cover well but they
will openly run up to youin the middle of the cross fire to hit
you with their loaded gun or fire at you right next to you and
while you in the"cover" mode ists not easy to get out of it to fight the idiot who doesnt value his AI life

thats basicly it for the AI none of the characters value their life much if at all you can tll by their actions.

the voice acting is soooo funnyits like a bad japanese dub or somthing.

graphics wise...its good but everything looks plactic and wet...you can call that the games style i call it lame.
this game sucks

Playing on Perfect Agent is a lot of fun, you really have to sneak around, snipe, and avoid getting into big gunfights as much as possible.
kaz786
I dont like the game. it wasnt what i expected. im gonna trade it in for pgr3 this week.
Darcom
The online of Perfect Dark Zero is the only good part and the features are far from limited.
MadEx
On launch day I picked up PDZ. Played 4 or 5 levels and the next day went and exchanged it for CoD2.

I'm happy with CoD2.
MadPerry
game is dull. i never liked the original Perfect Dark, so i should have known. it was hyped so much...

my son likes it a LOT, so it is certainly a game of personal preference.
Marrvia
It's a pretty good. The worst problem with it is the controls. It's too hard to aim. If the controls were as good as COD2, I would have liked it a lot more.
KMFDM
I bought pd0 thinking it would be a blast to play beat the entire single player was kinda upset about it, then hit up live for a few. couple days later i bought cod2 and i've been playing that online nonstop for 5 days. pd0's mulitplayer just sucks in my opinion. ya cod2 would be better with an update and more then 8 players but its still a kick ass game on live love.gif
mitch2025
COD2 has good single but bad multi (untill they add a party feature [if they do which i hope they do] and once they fix the damn lag issue) and PD0 has awsome single (coop is the shiznit) and awsome multi. the thing about PD0 is some people like it and others hate it. i just never expect to be blown away by a game so when i play it i wont be disapointed if it sucks.
AnC
i think its quite obvious most of rares "talent" were busy with Kameo and left a rather newish team of people to sort out PDz, compared to the original this game is pants..

as a single game and forgetting the original its an average game with very good gfx and Horrible controls (aiming like said above is alot harder than it should be) and dodgy Voice acting.
Deftech
This is an odd game.

Those who were excited about it, ended up disliking it, or should I say it was less than what they expected.

And those who didnt care about it end up liking it.

I fall into the middle. I didnt care either way and was giving Rare the benefit of the doubt, and ended up laughing at it due to the boredom it caused me.

unclepauly
Pdz looks like a wet butthole.

and only fags like wet butthole...
unlike dry butthole only sony fan boys like that

Crobar summed it up best in three little words:

Schismatized
i felt this was a pretty good game. cept for the ai sucks. i think ppl are just saying it sux is because its better than halo 2. i have no problem with aiming. it could have more features but i think it is fun all around. at least it doesn have a bunch of glitches that ppl exploit lik assholes.. unlike halo lol.

That's some theory you got there. blink.gif They're actually saying it sucks because they're not having fun playing it. It has nothing to do with a Halo. I just plain don't like playing it (link) because it's not entertaining to me. I don't find it to be any fun. The multiplayer aspect of it is mildly better than the single player experience, but that's not saying much. If only gamemakers could suck all the weapons out of PDZ and put them in a better game. I agree with you, however, that the game is pretty fair on Live.

But like they say, "Opinions are like assholes: everybody's got one." The initial poster should give this game a rent so he/she can decide for him/herself. No point in making such a decision without a solid frame of reference.

addyb
I agree with a previous poster. Most FPS games that come for xbox or 360 will always be compared to the Halo games... fair enough they are quite good games but in my mind are nowhere near as good as all the fanboys hype them up to be. Also halo online.... LOL give me a break..decent FPS games online are games like Unreal Tournament, Counter strike etc.
Most of my mates own Perfect dark zero and absolutely love it. Why? because its quite a tough game and has some variety. I love COD2 as i own it for pc but it gets far too much hype for its own good. You take away the flash gfx and theres little variety or challenge to any of the gameplay. I supposed its all down to what you are used to but PD0 is far better than COD2 IMO

I purchased PDZ as my launch game and after about 3 to 4 hours I just decided to play Live Arcade. The next day I bought NFSMW and CoD2 and I now finally love my 360 like I should. I wanted so hard to like PDZ, but I guess I'm halo spoiled. I need a jump button! Also, something about the size of the screen seemed odd, kinda like I was zoomed in 2 much. I don't know, its just I really wanted to like it but everytime I played it felt like a chore.

Yeh i admit that i havent been blown away by PDZ either but i do enjoy the game for the amount of time ive played it. I'll admit thats another game that hasnt lived up to the hype. It took me a while to get into Halo tho at first. I just couldnt get used to the slow pace of everything, again i think thats because ive been spoilt with PC FPS games like Doom, Halflife, SOF etc. As time went on i grew to love halo for its twisting storyline and some good levels. But as for halo online i didnt like it one bit, again that was due to my love of unreal tournament and Counter strike etc. Anyways thats always been the beauty of videogames. Some you love and hate. Some you hate and then begin to love etc etc. I wouldnt say the launch games for 360 have been outstanding, but i remember saying the same with PS2 etc. Im personally looking forward to Resident evil 5, Fight night Rd 3 and another forza motorsport, mainly because im such a fan of the originals and i cant wait to see what original material gets released............HOLD ON.. this thread has gone well off topic...sorry guys, me and my mouth jester.gif jester.gif

any one who thinks perfect dark zero is getting bad remarks because its not some kind of halo killer is a moron and obviously dosent know what good game play is.
halo has nothing to do with the fact that people dotn like PD0, there are other shooters
out right now and guess what people love them are they halo?
are they being compared to halo?
NO
so shut your face.
perfect dark zero is not only an easy game but it lacks any fun game play.
the ai is retarted andthere is too much focus on the graphics.
it is a bad game...its the number 1 returned (for preowned sale) game at my local EB.

WOW shut my face! I wont even rise to the bait my friend and resort to a slanging match!!
I even stated on my last post my feelings on various games etc. I like PD0 but did i tell you to shut your face? I like Halo!!! WOW shock horror, i just stated that it was overhyped much like PD0 was. I like both games and yes its always the case of "this games better than that because..."
End of the day its just our own opinions and ultimately if we enjoy the game and others dont, well so what!!

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Nah dont worry about it, i get told to shut my face daily by my GF so its no biggie!

I apologise as it wasnt my intention to start a PD0 vs Halo argument. For what its worth i think i think halo overall is a better game, guess ive been waiting so long for this damn console i get caught up in the hype!

Excellent point on gameplay, man. This feature is sorely missing in PDZ.

pdz disapointed me alot. I am a massive pd and goldeneye fan. Still have my n64 chillin in my bedroom. cool.gif As people have said i cannot get over the controls and now im playing the game just to try and get my moneys worth, not for fun.
So the rule stands i think, if you expected you got disapointed.
Hopefully whatever Rare do next in the fps area will be alot better. Perhaps Free Radical will beat them to it.

yeah...if you expected any thing...anything at all form PD0
you were dissapointed.
my self i expected somthing fun.

I think it all felt very...how do I say this...

Generic?

does that make sense?

Maps/environments were generic. I didnt like the game mechanics at all. I thought Id like it online but that left a lot to be desired too.

Put it this way, if I had to pick between this and Halo 2, I might actually pick Halo 2, and people who know me understand what Im trying to get across laugh.gif

I thought that the single player campaign was good, alot of people say that it sucked. Perfect Dark Zero online owns Call Of Duty 2 in multiplayer.

I would have to disagree. pd0 mulitplayer isnt really even fun. COD2 takes more skill than pd0. Ever since i got c0d2 i havent even touched pd0. love.gif

Ditto. On all counts.

You know, I was thinking this thing over: why do people keep on comparing everything to Halo, even the compared games that don't resemble it at all. But then I understood that none of us compare the games based on the gameplay or graphics, but the impact they've made to us back then. There's just something to having a kickass game that sneaks up from behind, blows our minds and basically steals our lifes, making us neglect all our friends and completely forget about our school and work.

There's just something absolutely great about it. As sad as it is.

At the moment neither of the FPS games for x360 can't do anything remotely like that to me, and that's why they both feel somewhat tame. I can play them, yes, but I can also easily be without playing them.

Here's hoping for that GOW would be able to ruin my life for a few weeks.
