i have xbox V1.0
i have a second gen. mod chip (not sure which)
i don't know what BIOS i have

i do know i renamed my evoxdash.xbe to evoxdash2.xbe

i did this because i wanted XBMC as my default dash. -> i was told to rename (RENAME_ME.xbe)
to something my BIOS could read. so RENAME_ME.xbe became evoxdash.xbe /and evoxdash.xbe became
evoxdash2.xbe

now, i have a timing switch with my power button -> hold for 1sec = xboxdash.xbe/2-3sec = evoxdash.xbe
3+ = flash bios.

i can go into xboxdash without problem. When i go into evoxdash.xbe it stalls when the white MS title
comes on

i can play xbox games off disc from either dash but that defeats the purpose of the chip.

i can't FTP to fix this and i can't get a CD-RW evoxdash.xbe (renamed default.xbe) to work either.
i don't have a DVD burnner.

i'm not sure what to do now. I don't want to flash my BIOS without knowing what i have first.

any help/suggestions would be awsome.

Sounds like you have an Aladdin chip.
Don't reflash the bios. Concentrate your efforts on getting an evox boot disk to work.
make sure you have put the evoxdash.xbe (renamed as default.xbe) and the ini file inside a folder on your PC.
Use qwix to make an XISO of this and burn the image to CDRW (You may have to try a few brands to find one that your drive likes.
The other way would be to obtain an Autoinstaller Slayers and burn this image to disc to boot from.
If you do it the evox boot disc way you still need to ftp to change back the name to evoxdash.xbe.
If you do it the Autoinstaller way you can just install evox straight from the autoinstaller

Or maybe you could run a gamesave hack that has a file manager to rename things correctly.

If he doesnt have a burner to get it on his xbox its an issue......
And if his xbox wont read CDRWs and he only has a cd burner then it's another option. BUT, he must know someone with a DVD burner if it comes to that.

Well usually CD-RWs work in most boxes. If not then CD-Rs. But a DVD burner to burn a little 300mb file to a DVD is way overkill dont you think? All i have is a little CD burner. And i get by just fine.

memorex CD-RW rewritable 4x700mb80min brand discs don't work on xbox v1.0

i made a music cd and i wouldn't read it.
i'll try more brands tomorrow

i forgot to mention i have:
qwix/smartxx.exe/craxtion/slayer/xbtool/nero 7 (demo exp.1/1/2006)/nero Express(free with comp)
not sure why. but i have 'em.

i don't know much about softmods-> save hacks??

cud i hav a link for learning?

thanks for helping.

Well if you ever end up with a drive like my old Thomson that wouldnt read any CD media of any sort then youd understand why a DVD may be an option. He could also swap in an pc dvd drive if he had one available. Need not be a burner.

hey thanks for all your help
i fixed the problem

what i ended up doing was a pot tweak
it was at 1700 ohms and now it's at 820 ohms

it read a sony CD-RW650L but nothing else. my xbox is four years old so i think my lasers weak.
i also think thats why it wouldn't read anything

i did learn that i have a thompson drive, a muppetX chip and evoX m7 bios

i made a boot disk with DVD2XBOX which let me change the file names easily.

everythings good now thanks for your help biggrin.gif
