I am trying to make a SlaYers Auto-Installer v2.6 boot disk. I was wondering what kind of disk that I should use with a Thomson DVD drive.
saunders73
generally cd-rs dont work to well and cd-rws work way better but each drive is different so you just have to see for yourself

none of that matters. it all depends on who makes the discs rather than their brands. there's a thread all about this...

Just try DVD-Rs. You'll have a far better chance for success.

i'm having the same problem. i need a boot disk to recover my dash

i've been unsucsessful so far.

go to here:
http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Talk:Xbox_L...D_Burning_HOWTO
and here for info on cd's in general:
http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_dye.shtml
i was told that the type of dye is important.

i've tried memorex CD-R/maxell CD-RW/Fuji Film CD-R photo/memorex CD-RW/and
sony CD-RW650L

so far sony's the only one xbox recognises as a music disc. but it won't play music
(note:when testing cd's make a music disc first. -> if it can't read music it wont read anything)
how you burn is just as important.

i'm starting to think my laser is weak, because it's a xbox v1.0 which i've had and used since
2002

EVERY THOMPSON IS DIFFERENT WITH WHAT WORKS!!!

no one will be able to give you an answer. Only advise wink.gif

there we go

now there are three ways to make your thompson read.
1)pick the right media
2)clean your lens
3)pot tweek
try cleaning your lens first it's the cheapest way to go.(free)

OK. Thanks _iffy.
