Hi all

I was just wondering if some of you could post opions about something im a little perplexed about, and was wondering if its worth doing to be honest.

I have a 42 inch plasma TV but its not HDTV ready, however I have a VGA output on the back(you know the type standard thing for using the TV as a PC monitor) Now im just wondering if its worth buying one of the HD VGA 360 cables so that I can use that VGA socket.??

Does anyone think this is worth doing? and secondly will it improve the 360 picture quality?? on the non HDTV ready plasma. I have the fully loaded xbox 360 with the HDef cable but it goes through to the scart adapter that came with the box, however even using this the picture quality does seem sorta pixalated especially around writing on the screen.

Any advice as always would be appreciated thanks

No, I dont think using a HD VGA cable will help the picture quality on a plasma tv that isnt HD ready. I am not 100% sure though, just wait for some other members to post.

VGA has a higher quality signal then component

HOWEVER some TVs wont let you adjust the picture through their VGA input so you may want to check out if your set will let you do that.

well ive been reading through the manual of the TV and it says the following:

"The VGA connector allows the following TV and monitor display modes

VGA 640x480
SVGA 800x600
XGA 1024x768
WXGA 1280 x 768

Note:
Use the XGA 1024x768@60hz video mode to obtain the best image quality for your LCD monitor
Use the WXGA1280x768@60hz video mode to obtain the best image quality for your PDP monitor

I take it that the XGA and WXGA is when you are using the plasma as a duel monitor with another monitor but from what I see there 800x600 is quite a good resolution for the HD for the 360 so therefore its defo worth buying a cable in my case so that I can use the VGA connector is this correct?? the model of the the TV is a
Philips 42PF9946, ive just found out that this TV is supposed to have progressive scan, but im still confused and ive googled all morning to see if there is any other info regarding this TV and a 360 but no luck so far.

Thanks again for the help guys its much appreciated
