Can someone please confirm that if I was to remove all of the videos on the kiosk disc and all of the demos excpet Call of Duty that the disk woudl boot.
ksteiner
what about the exe files, its pretty odd why wouldnt be an xex file , ms put it there for a reason. Since this is an exe file then we could probly run it on a pc.
JoCamel
In those fake boot images thereīs a file default.xex (10.821.632 byte) and a gif file.

Didnīt try it on X360 yet

Other thing: Know n e thing about Livevision? In the images folder thereīs a file called rel-LiveVision-01.png whitch shows a cam and a TEMP mark on it.... In the video folder thereīs a promovideo with a samsung HDTV, which has the same cam on top.....

They could have named it a .jpg file if they liked and it wouldn't mean it was a picture, would it? File extensions don't dictate the contents of a file.

It's probably just a normal xbox 360 (.xex) executable program with a different extension.

i tried the the new default.xex on its own. didn't boot. I am going to replace the kiosk disk with the new default.xex and test. will report back

As far as I know, it could be referring to their webcam service they're supposedly adding in "spring 2006"
cmay227
does anyone know why on the oxm disc demos thier are 2 xex files, a default and (game name) xex. yet on the kiosk disc demos thier is only one?
swanlee
The King Kong Demo for the 360 is in this months OXM so is Kameo, I wouldn't worry about that showing up in your game profile.
JoBlo69
has anyone eather confirmed or not that the demos on the latest xbox 360 demo disk has a media check or not???

It would be interesting to see if the demos from the xbox mag disk can be placed into the kiosk disk.........

So if the menu is configable and it's possible to view hd, does that mean i can watch a custom 'lost' dvd on a 360???

Yeah, if it's in WMV HD format. Just make a WMV HD video, and replace some of the videos with your own wink.gif
EDIT: Yeah babe, found it biggrin.gif (don't ask from me where to find it though)
hurlamania
Some of you may now there are 4 themes to download from the disc to a memorycard, but actually there are 5 on the disc if you mod the ini in the en-en folder you can make the 5th one show up it is a theme for japan only called Sun... if anyone is interested i can get you the instructions.

If you edit the kiosks ini you can totaly relink to whatever you want add a logo ect...

Slowly the xbox360 is getting hacked wink.gif This disk is a great advantage, and I see a mod for next year.Cant wait to play the emus in hdtv!! If it wasnt for "the scene"...M$ wouldnt have had all the ideas they have now for the xbox360..media center.....downloadable ROMS from xbox live for old games...And what possible money does M$ lose from people who mod their systems?? Not everybody knows about "modding". Anyway I know C & linux so Ima take a look at this disk and see what exploits it may have wink.gif
Guerrilla
isnt it possible to just add more themes to the disk and install them through it? would be great to finally make my own...
crasher0255
Not sure if this has been asked in the past, i was browsing through the thread and didnt see it. Does this release only work on PAL Xbox360's? or is it region free? Also can like 3-5 GB WMV HD movies be put on this disc and the entire disc burned to a DVD9 without affecting booting?

you can add 1 more as i talked of in my past post, it is on the disk already but not accesible the way it is as for adding more it is set up where if you have the file (no extention you could do it or add ones from other discs ) there are 2 more japanees ones but arnt on that disc mabey someone from japan has access to a disc with them on there they are water and pink.

if someone finds out how to make the files them you should be able to poip them on and edit the ini for them.

I bet the group doesn't even have a 360 to test with. I also belive that few groups even have a 360. Once the shortages are down I bet we will see more things. I think the best thing we can hope for from this disc is a Flash FTP sever or some sort of Flash Application that will do somthing. Maybe a way to make new skins or somthing might come from this. And that might be what MS wanted. Us to make that so they don't have to pay someone else to do the work. I don't think MS is going to get caught with a way to make a boot disc as easy as the dreamcast days. besides you would also need to find away to disable the bios's reset to dash after opening the dvd tray right? and that might have to be a hardware change or bios change. I also doubt there will be multi disc games sense it suports dvd9. I mean the day it does I'm sure MS will release a BIOS update thur live or the game that has more than 1 disc will have a way to update it. I'm not much or a programer so I'm not going to mess to much with this. But creating new skins for this would be cool I wonder if thoes are signed and how we could make our own if they are not.
cmay227
ok itried something with the demo disc to see if i could get the demos off the oxm demo disc to work by placing them in the kiosk disc. failed. i then tried placing the oxm demos into the kiosk disc again but this time i deleted the default .xex file and replaced the kameo.xex file with the default .xex file from the kiosk kameo demo and it booted right up . this maybe old news and I'm a noob at this stuff . so the dvd check is in the xex file , and i guess thier is no way to alter it? just thought I'd try something to give my 2 cents.

Why do you need to find them ,their URL is in the release:

www.infinitymods.com

They just did that so people will order from them , i mean stupid one, as 80% are stupid, and 20% will hate them, they simply expect 20% to not say anything, and 80% to visit and may be buy.

Seems like crap spidergx way of doing

Are you kidding me there won't be multiple disc games? The games are already almost filling a DVD9 due to high resolution textures. To quote the opinion of developer Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki:

The problem, in Itagaki's mind, is with the choice of storage medium, two layer DVD. Itagaki believes one reason MS went with the 9.4 gigabyte DVD format for Xbox 360 is that American and European developers use real time movies. Japanese developers like to use pre-rendered videos, and may feel a bit uneasy about the storage, especially with the space required for high definition videos (Itagaki makes a side comment that Team Ninja was originally going to distribute the E3 Dead or Alive 4 trailer as an uncompressed high definition 2 gigabyte movie file).
cmay227
ok sorry about the wording. the oxm demos have 2 xex files. the kiosk demos only have 1 xex file, like in the kameo demo in oxm disc i deleted the smaller of the 2 xex files which was default xex, the other is named kameo.xex well i then replaced the kameo xex file with the default.xex file from the kiosk demo kameo and then transfered the kameo demo into the demos section in the kiosk demo and it worked. maybe a useless thing to try but i'm new at this so sorry if this was useless to post , it was something to try and see what happed.
StormLord
yeah, the oxm demo's are set up differently, i wonder why the two files instead of the one xex, maybe the media flag set on the second xex?

An update from me: (had to work this day)

Last night i added the oxm full auto to the disc, and deleted kameo. I added extra info to the ini file, and it shows up in the menu. When i try to launch it it gives me the error, about region code, or maybe dirty disc. Ill try some further but i don't think i can get it run.

I guesse you cant FF or RW the videos on the kiosk disc

Even if this doesnt provide exploit to the 360 I bet it will be a handy Multi disc menu for launching several homebrew once 360 is modded

Now I haven't tried this and this is my first post here so I really hope I'm not making a fool of myself hehe, but for all the people that are worrying about getting banned from live using this demo cd...isn't that solvable by just creating an offline profile and using the demo with it? that way your live profile will be safe...right?

would it be possible to copy a full length WMV-HD movie to the kiosk disk and while stripping everything else out? specifically I want to watch the terminator 2 WMV-HD movie on my 360 using the kiosk disk.. possible? yes no?

Lots of fakes and jokers showing up in the wake of this. I think the key is through this disc. Once it is discovered how the media flag is dealt with, then we'll be up and running.

It's a pain having to go back to the menu system every time I get done playing the Full Auto Demo. It would be able to transfer that to a separate disc (or even the hard drive) and be able to avoid going back to the menu.

Funny thing is, the actual game might be out before it's figured out.

Are you saying that somehow you were able to rip the full auto demo from the OXM Demo Disc and put it on the recently released KIOSK Demo disk and got it to boot? Or are you just talking about playing the OXM Demo Disc?

How about this video?...*STOP LINKING TO THE RAPID SHARE SITE**..scroll down and click on FREE. Once the countdown finishes type in the letters or numbers that are in colour in the space provided and start download.

i was trying some things out with the kameo demo that was included in the kiosk and my own kameo rip. I took the files of my rip deleted all languages that wern't needed then i replaced the default.xex with the demos default.Xex and burned it with nero. Result -> it boots but i can only play the first level because at the end gate it doesn't load the video it usually does i can just keep on walking and nothing happens

btw you can just take all files out of a demo map and burn only those files to a dvd. It loads perfectly
cmay227
what i did was delete the kameo on the kiosk demo but first copied the .xex file to my desktop, then i put the kameo from the oxm disc into the demo folder of the kiosk disc and deleted both .xex files and added the default .xex file i had copied to my desktop and the game launched, i don't know if this is a big deal but when i looked at both .xex file from both demos they were diffrent from each other.
FlashKick
cmay, that isn't such a big deal..it would be if you replaced the original kameo .xex with the one from the oxm disk.

For every Body that want's to use it to watch wmv-hd maybe this might come in handy

Go to then /en-en/ folder then open up your kiosk.ini
Go to
CODE
[Attract]
InactiveTime=240
Attract0_Video=game:\videos\brandvision.wmv
Attract1_Video=game:\videos\accessories.wmv
Attract2_Video=game:\videos\kameo.wmv
Attract3_Video=game:\videos\pgr3.wmv
Attract4_Video=game:\videos\brandvision.wmv
Attract5_Video=game:\videos\cod2.wmv
Attract6_Video=game:\videos\nfs.wmv

And change it to
CODE
[Attract]
InactiveTime=2
Attract0_Video=game:\videos\yournamefromvideohere.wmv

As soon you put the disc in it will autostart your movie within 2 seconds. I haven't tried with 1 second, or with 0 to see what happends then. I assume you can delete your whole Demo directory and empty your whole video directory to have as much space as possible.

OH MY.. I just wasted 10 minutes downloading and watching this. Why didn't you make it clear this was just a video of the kiosk disc working? I was thinking this was some other video showing something useful but it was a waste of my time.

Should have said -- "This video just shows how the demo disc loads" because to ppl with the disc this video is pointless. No offense, though.. :|

That's basically it.....

http://www.wmvhd.com/

http://www.atomfilms.com/af/spotlight/collections/hidef/

Of course, if you have any of the WMV HD dvd discs, you can probably rip your own clips of the actual film in some kind of codec to play on the 360... I know you can do this to get them to play with the XP MCE link by rigging it this way. Of course for this demo disc, a full-length film would possibly take up too much space so you'd maybe need to make 2 of these demo discs and swap em (if we ever get to that point but I may be wrong anyway). I don't have any WMV HD discs b/c the 360 doesn't support them by straight playing them (which is CRAP!) If it did, I would have bought a couple dozen of them (probably every one on the market).

Since it's said that you can't pause, ff, or rw them, however on this demo disc - I think I'm just going to forget about it. That's just me, though. I get all the demos off Live Arcade and my OXM subscription as it is already plus I don't care about any other current possibility this demo disc has so I have yet to burn it and throw it in.

Well there are some other companies putting out WMV-HD films that aren't advertised by MS (and adult-oriented) like the "PIRATES!" one that's very popular. I lost the url to the official site which is a great site but here's one of many links:
