I modded my Xbox using Mechassault. Just a Soft Mod. I want to play Halo2 on Xbox Live, and you can't play with a modded Xbox. So can someone please tell me how to remove this crap?!

If you used a decent softmod then you can play on Xbox Live, you just need to coldboot the game (search if you don't know what that means). Also, softmods are not "crap". If you want to return to stock then put the stock files back into your c: drive via FTP.

How do I get the stock files? Someone told me if I just got Mechassault again I could go back in and there would be a remove option. Is that true?

that depends on what package you used. you could just restore to stock using slayers

Is there not a way I can just delete the files using FTP?I don't see why it's so hard to get a softmod removed..it's just a simple gamesave.

Slayers can be found on xbins (do a search on the main xboxscene.com webpage).

wow....I don't think you understand the idea of a softmod. Are you aware that if you just go around deleting files you'll probably end up with a useless xbox?
You can burn slayers to a disc or extract using a xbox iso tool like qwix. be very carefull with picking your options though.
