In the same MS CES presentation that Bill and his cronies announced the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox360, Peter Moore himself also let it slip that the legendary Street Fighter II is going to be hitting the XBox Live Arcade within a few months. No word yet as to which version it wil be, or how much it will cost, but let's hope it is along the same lines as the other XBLA titles. As we have said many times, if MS keeps this up, the XBox Live portion of the 360 will play a huge part in helping the unit catch on with gamers.

i know its not the high-def street fighter sequal we have been wanting but its still good to see a high profile game being available for LIVE arcade. i wonder how the low rez. sprites will look displayed at 720p

Depending on the version I will probably bite. Hopefully they can get SF3 or even SFA3 on there....

Playing the MAME version of Alpha 3 is sweet....haven't found SF3 yet though.

That's AWESOME news...

I love the Xbox Live Arcade, so much fun, here's hoping they have a fully functional demo of SF2, even if they don't the typical $5-$10 price is fine by me biggrin.gif

Now if we could get some classic Midway fighter action on XBLA...

or maybe one of the old Killer Instinct Arcades love.gif

now that would be cool!!! im also hopeing that SNK will join in the fun and release some of the KOF games
id be happy to pay £10 per game if they did
twistedsymphony
oh man ANY of the classic SNK titles... Ima have to bust out the NeoGeo tonight biggrin.gif

I like classic game collections as much as the next guy but I get tickled pink when I think about being able to download them a-la-carte love.gif

One thing is for sure....we're going to need bigger HDs in the future....

H-A-W-T!

I can't wait for this. Honestly, I didn't like SF3 very much so I hope it's SF2 Turbo that makes the cut. I could also go for some SFA but I couldn't tell you which one would be the best. I wonder if they'll trump up the sprites a bit for 720p... Oh man oh man. Gimme some Live MP too!! I'd pay the 400 MS points for that. That's only 20 quarters; a small amount compared to what I paid in the arcades.

I'm still hoping for a vector based version of SF2 (or even SF4 I suppose).

i dont play any games off of the LIVE arcade (except the geometry wars demo) but arent some games online playable? it would be really cool to have an old school online street fighter.

I got Bankshot Billiards with my Live Starter Pack for "free". It has online MP but noone really plays it. I usually just ask my brother to pop on to play me.

Geometry Wars is amazing and totally worth the $5. Too bad you can't get MP on it. A second player would help ALOT!

I think I might splurge on Outpost Kaloki as it's kinda fun in a mindless Sim kinda way. Anyway, XBLA is my favorite part of the 360, and to answer your question, yes, some of the games are online MP.
twistedsymphony
Smash TV is MP too... that's true classic arcade brought back to life with online MP
miggidy
This is great news!
It gets no bigger than Street Fighter 2 when you're talking about arcade classics.

Not only am I excited over this because I'm a huge SF fan, but this might persuade other key arcade game devs to follow suit beerchug.gif

I got the impression that it was the original Street Fighter 2...but hopefully leads to:
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
(any other of the above mentioned games)

...and Ultimately Street Fighter 4!

BTW...I can't wait to kick all your asses in the above games wink.gif

I hope it is sf2 World Warrior smile.gif
Then maybe do add ons for the others so u pay like 400 m$
Then smaller amounts of credits to build up the other sf2 versions

I wonder if the moves to reset the arcade machine will be left in to reset the 360 lol

Hello. Sounds awesome. I'm new to live and don't know exactly how live arcade works.

Furthermore, I have street fighter collection that features the classics and sf3. I also have sf from midways classic arcade collection that was released way back last year or so. I guess what I'm trying to say is, what's the point of having this on live arcade for those that already own multiple versions ie. sf collection. Is there something more to these arcade games like smash tv and what not? Please, I want to know, because I will invest. This is an honest post, so please no flames. Thanks guys.
mgamer20o0
i would get it.
Terrier
They'll probably start out with one of the first editions of SF2 and then gradually release more as time goes on knowing a lot of people will probably buy more than one version that way.

gsxr
hehe Sammy4, Garou mark of wolves, last blades. All great SNKs. hehe i wish.. and alpha 3 would be awesome.

I hope the companies really start to utilize the live features currently and I hope it grows to great proportions.

I would love to see Digital downloads in the future. Also be able to re-download it again if need be have it all linked to your gamertag/account. Also downloadable hi-res movies all this to an external HD maybe. Digital downloads could cut down price maybe? same with the movies?

I don't know just some thoughts.. cause we all know the way the market is now and is heading with media in general... beerchug.gif

Oh yeah btw.. you can also play SFalpha 3 Arcade via a kaillera network supported client. I use to versus people all the time, pretty fun. www.kaillera.com just a heads up... wink.gif

the one thing im really curious about is with the sprites being so low rez, wouldnt upscaling the game to such a high-rez make the characters look like poop?

Reading into their blurb a lil more carefully, they don't say it's available now... "Early 2006".

Back in the 90's I was unstoppable at SF2: Turbo. Awe the days before combos, reversals, and side-stepping.

Last time I checked, those games aren't compatible with the X360 (SF Collection).

Ahhh I love this idea.
I used to play SF for cash back in my middle school days.
I wonder if we can exchange M$ via Xbox Live?
Who's willing to put their money where their mouth is?

I would like to see the original Grand Theft Auto on the Xbox Live Arcade.
