Full Version: Windows Wmv Zero-day Exploit For Xbox 360?

I don't have a Xbox 360 yet so I can't experiment anything. sad.gif

I know that every unpatched Windows version (even Windows 3.0!) had a the WMV zero-day exploit that could be used to run arbitrary code due to a flaw in Windows while reading Windows Meta File images.

Now I know that the Xbox 360 was released before that zero-day exploit was found, so the same exploit is probably on the Xbox 360 too. Also, on the unprotected Xbox 360 Kiosk Demo Disk there are some WMV movies. It's crazy, but there's a chance that replacing them with an exploited WMV image might work.

Here are the possibilities:
- Freezing (which would be normal in this case)
- Some error message ("not a movie", black screen, etc.)
- Surprisingly working (that's what I hope)

Can anybody test it? And with all the possible WMV files just in case? Thanks! pop.gif

It's WMF (Windows MetaFile). Not even sure the Xbox 360 can display them. Someone should try it.

well, bad news, WMF files dont appear to the 360 via win media connect, i'll conduct a test with a standard 64 mb jumpdrive.

edit: bad news, negatory on the jumpdrive as well.
