im the type of person who likes to figure out how games work so id like this thread to be about the intricacies of geo wars... now im not the best player at it but ive noticed some things in the 'levels' i can reach: hopefully others can expand upon this...

weapons upgrade : every 10,000 points*
extra life : every 75,000 points*
extra bomb : every 100,000 points*

2x multiplier - after ~900 points
3x multiplier - after ~3500 points
4x multiplier - after ~16000 points
5x multiplier - after ~60000 points
6x multiplier - ...

purple pinwheels - random flyers, not aggressive, sluggish
blue rhombus' - direct attackers, non evassive, sluggish
green squares - direct attackers, evade fire, moderate speed
pink squares - direct attackers, moderate to fast, split into 3 small pink square when hit... the 3 small squares are looping flyers that are moderately aggressive
snakes - moderately aggressive, can only be killed with a headshot and you cannot pass through their tails, sluggish
black holes - very passive, suck up enemies and you as well as distorting your fire path... once theyve sucked up enough enemies(seems to be 7-10)/merged with other black holes, they release a swarm of 'mini-blue-holes'
'mini blue holes' - very aggressive, swarm with direct routes to your ship
red ships - ... not sure as there are normally way too many enemies to keep track of when these make their debut...

just random stuff ive noted that others might want to add to to aid those of us that like to attack games with a little logic and understanding of the AI...

I can't get past 175,000 points. Those little blue guys always get me when they come out from the red circles that you need to explode.

I got to like 195,00 something like that. Its very fun

Retro mode is hella hard, I think Ive only gotten about 30,000

you for got one enemy, what are those litte tiny things that com out of the corners. almsot have asmoke effect there are so many of them

The BLUE TRIANGLES that swarm in from the corners are nearly impossible to evade without use of one of your bombs. I've only escaped them once without a bomb by using the upgraded rapid fire weapon and some deft flying. They are non-evasive and swarm to the point of congestion. Make sure there are NO BLACKHOLE things onscreen or youre screwed.

The RED SHIPS have a shield that depletes. Best to let them fly at you, then dodge them and shoot them as they fly past. I usually ignore them as they make a sound right before they attack. They aren't a problem.

I've gotten 722,000 points, but only once. My next best was 548,000. My average is around 250,000. Always trying for more!

You didn't mention the red holes which can actually help you control swarms of attackers. Although they explode into lots of mini blues holes they are easier to kill than all of that were swallowed. The red holes sort of act like a buffer and they also control the density of opponents and the directions they can attack from.

There is also the blue snowflakes which come at about 250K from all 4 corners, they are very hard to kill because there are so many of them. Very slow but there are about 500-1000 shapes that are launched on each attack.

One thing I know you need to do in order to get by the 200K mark is get the pacifist rating. This will help you understand how to avoid shapes, it is important to try to keep moving in circles to keep the shapes behind you. You also need to be able to precisely control the direction you are shooting to clear paths to allow your ship to keep moving in circles so you can stay alive.

I just passed the 1 mil. mark last night.

The blue triangle (jacks) I actually look forward to seeing. What you need to do is shoot a path through the stream, then sweep your guns through the hole a couple times, then bust through, make it through 2 streams, and then clean up the tail end of the third, and you will have a huge mass of them in the center of the level. Just take pot shots at them when you have a chance.

The multiplier is not based on points. It is based off the number of enemies you kill. x2=25 enemies x3=75, all the way up to x10=2000 enemies! It resets after each life.

Once you pass through the beginning stages and they start spawning a lot of enemies on screen at once, just focus on making boxes around the edges of the map. Keep shooting ahead of you to keep you flight path clear, and when you have a chance, shoot behind you to eleminate some of the group that will follow you around.

Try not to make a path through the center, it almost always means death.

Use your bombs to clear the way ahead if it becomes to much.

Those little blue X things that come in like thousands are what get me it seems like i cant shoot fast enough, i just need to have a plan for attack i guess.

i just got to the jacks today actually... they can build your multiplier really quickly and arent that hard to avoid (if there arent many other enemies on screen) because they are slow and easy to punch a 'hole' in their swarm as youve said... a couple of corner swarms of those and you get at least a free life and bomb, let alone 1-2 levels in multiplier...

@thax: the red circles that i 'forgot' are the ones other people and myself call 'black holes' as they act as such...

I notice some of teh shapes cluster together if you don't take them out quickly... is there any advantage to this approach?

Also any tips to get pass the 1 min mark without shooting?

I will try to rotate around the map shooting ahead of me like mentioned above and also making circles. I still haven't gotten use to the 360 controls yet.

Approx. 166,000 is my max it blows my mind looking at some of the leader boards.

The red ships target you and then put up a force field in front of them and try to ram right in to you. Your bullets can't hurt their forcefield. Their weakness are they only move in a straight line, and that when they miss you they are slow to turn around leaving them open to attack. They don't come up often (from my experience) and only come 1 at a time.

My highest score is somewhere around 212,000

Ive reached over 300,000 finally and on my way to the 500,000 mark. I hate using bombs because you dont get points for using them. So i always end up dying and have like 3 or 4 bombs still left. This game is so addicting and gets so hard to see later on in the game, too much going on. Just keep shooting in front of you while you skim around the edges and i find it helps to move out away from the corners as you go around since most things come out from there and you dont want to get hit.

I love Geo Wars II. It really hits me in that primal arcade shooter type of way. I really hope developers are hearing everyone, and that they start making more games like Geo Wars II. My high score is 267,000. I also hate those super tiny clusters, that come at you from all corners.

I love playing some nu-skool breakbeats while playing (uberzone, Adam Freeland).

I was playing this game all night and finally got up to 710,000 then died. I was on my way to getting that 1 mill Last night i keep seeing shapes flying around in my head as i try and shoot them and find the best way to kill them. Next im going to start seeing shapes in the food i eat

I think the 360 is learning my style in the game. I was attacked by not 1, not 2, not THREE, but FOUR waves of floaty green square things. Then the snakes came and I was fugged. No bombs left

I swear I can't handle next-gen AI. I'm just not smart enough.

I can handle it when a bunch of shapes come out because i just start fighting a path in front of me, hit a circle and run, then they all go into the circle and give me a chance to get away but sometimes they will send a TON of those snakes and those SUCK!! You have to hit them in the "face" or else your screwed and i always run into their tails because i can never kill them fast enough. I should have my 1 mill within the next week though

Honestly, if it wasn't for the snakes... i'd be past 1M by now. They are the ever constant source of anxiety when I get into the 500K range. Just tooo damn much coming and going for me to worry about hitting a snake tail...

I HATE the snakes. I survived to 493k before running into a snake. I saw red.

Its too bad theres not a record option so i could see how you guys do it. My hi is like 105K and i felt like that was hard then i look in the online leaderboard and #1 has over 9 million WTF!

I couldn't watch any more out of disgust for myself... I can't even get pass 162k. It looked as if it didn't start getting hard for him till about 250k maybe I downloaded the EXTRA HARD Version of the game, and our playing styles look similar except for he is good and I am not.

OK I am mad enough to try again.... I won't post anymore on the scene till I surpass my highest score.

After watching the video i got inspiration to play harder, i was playing all night and eventually got up to 800,000 and then died. I was so close to getting my 1 mill and now im stick at work being dead tired and falling asleep while talking to customers.

I can never get passed the 250K mark, my HS is 247K I always die when the sperm comes out, but I have noticed that there is usually black holes at the corners right before they come out, so activate the black holes quickly.

I FINALLY GOT PAST 1 MILL! WOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!! I had my hopes up so i was gonna try for the 9 bombs next and i got up to 8 bombs and was like YES thats another one down so i stopped trying and died then realized it was 9 bombs i was posted to get

I got to 499,850 the other day... I was so pissed I didnt break 500k. But anyways, Im sure I will eventually, I usually just restart if I die before like 175k or so, even then sometimes its a waste of time.

Ok finally beat 300k mark I think mY HIGH IS APPROX 365K I am heading to #1 rapidly ;p

ranked 8000+ I have a long way to go... yet the funnest game for the 360 IMO

I've looked at this thread a few times and have decided to give the 3 tips that wll have you to 1,000,000 in no time.

1. Fire in front of you, but not only that, strafe the fire as if you were the Terminator. This way you control an area in front of you.

2. Circle. The reason I state this is because the "enemy ships" as I call them (the red things that actually fire) travel in a straight line. This way you can avoid them untll you shoot them or they get sucked into a black hole.

3. Use bombs often. The multiplier only stays with the life you started it with. This means that the longer you stay alive, the easier it will be to earn a high score. You will find that earning enough points to get new bombs will be easier when you have a high multiplier. Using bombs, as oppose to dying and wasting a ship, makes all the achievements easier to accomplish.

those tips are all there are, but knowing them and doing them are 2 different things, those fucking snakes kinda suck balls

I hear you there, i got the 1 mill mark but for some reason i still cant stop playing, i thought once i got to that point then i could take a break but i keep seeing myself playing it and next thing you know im sitting in front of my tv playing it lol

Heartbreaking failure.

I hit 900K last night and died. Almost unlocked survive one million. Pulled the trigger to launch a bomb, and nothing. I then fly right into a little blue ball from one of th 7 exploding black holes on the screen.

Worst part is that I didn't get enough jack spawns to crank my multiplier up to x10. I was on x9 forever.

Ah well, at least I hit my new high score of 1.34mil. . .

Ive thought it was immpossible to do the surviving 1 mill but i guess if you time your bombs right and use them when you need to then it would be possible. I always seem to get hit on the dumbest possible places. I wish some of the arcade game achievements were worth more though.

Just remember that when you get to the point where you are going for survived one million, you can use one bomb every 76,000 to make it.

by collecting 9 lives/bombs, do they mean not dying/using bombs as well?

For the 9 lives you cant die, but for the bombs you can die all you want.

umm... you said you got 1mil points and 9 lives in the same game, and you don't have the survived 1mil points, so i would assume that you can die with the 9 lives achievement as long as you get enough lives to cover it

i got this game off the arcade a few days ago and my best so far was 368,700 or something. Awesome game.

This game is rediculously crazy after smoking a bowl, all the blasting, fireworks, and floor swirling, I dont reccomend it though as your heartbeat goes to like 1 million beats a minute from all the adrenaline!

Wow, I hit the million mark this morning...I've been trying for weeks now and finally!!! 1.094 million I'll take a break now...and I hate the snakes too...IMO those and the hundreds of purple jacks that come out later are the worst ones...game is crazy hard after a million, but addictive as all hell...

yea strikers video showed me to eliminate the BlackHoles immediately. Once i did that a million+ points came pretty easy.




Now surviving 500K-1mill is extrememly tough for me.





Geometry Wars + Marble Blast Ultra = Quality XBLA experience. I can completely see Geometry wars montages and whatnot.

bump. i'm stuck at about 280,000 luv the game, extremely addictting.

Grrr....i got 550k , unlocked the achievment but the game didnt register my high score!!!!!!! (still stuck at my old one, 270k).

HA HA HA you dont want to do that Keep at it and you will get up there. It took me about a week before i started getting scores over 200k and now i mostly get about 300 - 500. It makes me SOOO mad when all the snakes start coming out all the time.
