hey kids.. is there any way or program that will alow you to turn your xbox without the use of the powerbutton? you know.. just using your controller pressing some random button combination.. or sinse the controllers are usb they don't get any power while the system is off so there is no way... is that just too much to ask for..

not really. there is a hardware mod you can do to a controller to add a power button to it. I don't remember where i saw it though. google it.

Now that i'm actually posting i'm beggining to doubt myself but i'm pretty sure that the new xir thing from xecuter is capable of turining the xbox on using the dvd remote.

I remember seeing that on Tech TV. They used a wireless controller and used a garage door opener to turn it on.

hot damn did anyone else see that?? do you know of anyone who's tried this? because you know what.... that is amazing... does the controller or the port operate any different? and by that i mean can you still use a different controller in the port and will it work perfectly and vice versa can you use the modded controller in any system or any other port just for normal gaming? i would really really like to try this... but i don't wanna screw up too terribly so i need reassurance that someone else has tried it

It works, you just lose the ability to use a lightgun or racing wheel on that controller port. It's about getting a connection via a wire from the mobo to the modded controller. It can also be done by putting a switch in a memory card.

I did the mod awhile ago, works great. I only deviated slightly to the button placement on the controller. I put the switch into the hole where the bottom center screw was. i just shaved the screw post a little bit. So now the micro switch it recessed... no chance of accidentaly powering off the Xbox.Oh and I also used the smaller controller.
