The real reason for the shortage of 360's is so MS can limit the amount of xbox's out there that are first gen box's and when the first gen's are chipped....MS will find a way to disable the modchip while producing new 2nd gen xbox's that will be immune to the modchip
I hate people coming here and posting shit like this as fact. I noticed you didn't say this is your opinion.. or you heard is third hand.. so of course.. you "KNOW" this to be true.
First.. it's a retarded comment, founded only in the infancy thaty is your mind.
Second, "limiting" any release.. so that you can make something immune to hacking in it's next version, is equally retarded. Those with the skillz, interest, and tools will continue to bypass methods used to stop the chips.
The only real stumbling block, is the first version. Once it is chipped, pretty much all future versions will fall in place. Want to know why? it's the same reason all of the version of xbox and ps2 got modded.
When you release a console, the first version, is the base. All games, need to work on that model. You really don't get a second stab at it. All future games for 360, must still work on that first unit. So if Microsoft makes any revisions (and they will.. hell.. we've already seen at least 2 revisions) they can't change much, as the new units, must run the entire 360 library. There is a limit to what MS can do.
Where MS has an interesting new (or stronger) tie this time around is the LIVE connection. LIVE is so much more intimitately tied to the console, that they will be able to affect software changes on our consoles. (forcing us to "update")
Bottom line, no one producing a game console is going to limit release to thwart the modchipppers of the world. That would be a losing battle. If microsoft could have had their act together, they would have had 2-4 times the consoles on hand for sale. MS is here to make money.
Don't make any more posts in this forum as "FACT" unless you got some evidence, real evidence to back you up.
